  1. Hi Guys, The time tell sell my beloved is nearing closer and I'm wondering what I would be looking at in terms of selling her. She's got 147k on the clock, 2002, large display, all the motorsport trimmings, sunroof - all the bits you'd want. Along with the motorsport body kit and window tints however, the front of the car is sporting a couple of love bites on each site. Both passenger and driver front fenders would need to be either replaced or panel beated and the front bumper may need replacing. With this in mind how much would I be looking at resale? Is it one of things I just put a $1 reserve on and watch it go? What I'm also tossing up is, do I spend the extra cash to fix up the damage on it "in hope" of a higher resale value or sell as is? I've found a E39 wrecking that has all the body parts I need in good condition. The car is mechanically sound, just had new radiator put in, new battery, tyres are good and no errors messages.
  2. Hey man, Yeah I've got a friend that's a Team Mcmillan mechanic - he's scanned it and reckons it's the battery. I'm more posting to see if anyone else has had this issue and maybe have had a different solution.
  3. Hi Guys, Well I have the dreaded error message and after a bit of research the solution could be to do with my battery. A few times the battery light has come on and the other day the car didn't start at all. Jumped it and drove it around to charge the alternator and now it's fine. Has anyone run into this issue before and can share any knowledge on this? Transmission fluid is ok so I guess it points to the battery.
  4. Relax there fella... just a laugh.
  5. Wow this is insane!!! http://youtu.be/ZaiEdBxrXu0?t=5s
  6. I thought the same when looking at it but it definitely has the F10 appeal. Love the new shape! So aggressive / sexy!
  7. Oh Damn this looks sick... considering putting it on mine! http://www.ebay.com/itm/97-98-99-00-01-02-03-BMW-E39-5-SERIES-BSD-VTR-STYLE-FULL-BODY-KIT-BUMPER-SKITRS-/161336987666?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item25906f1012&vxp=mtr Thoughts? It reminded me of the new F10 shape.
  8. What's the quality like? Mission to install?
  9. Hi Guys, As per the title, has anyone done this? I have the screen display in my car and wondering how to hook up a AUX cable to play from my iPad?
  10. Not a bad way to live from time to time :-)
  11. Oooo nice! I would love to get the V8 - might have to look into it :-)
  12. The V8 is notorious for problems! That's why I didn't buy one in the first place.
  13. One day I decided to floor it up a one way street which lead to my offices under carpark. Had a big gate, going too fast - knocked the whole gate down, disturbed the whole office in the process and did that damage... was 5k to replace the gate hence - looking back I probably should have got my insurance to do my car too however, it was cheaper to fix the gate than my car as well.. Happy days!
  14. Hi Brent, Thanks for this - I've bought my mirrors from you before. How much are you wanting for the guard?
  15. Thanks driftit - I'll get in touch with him and see what he can do. Good pricing?
  16. Hi Guys, Had a few bumps happen to the car whilst owning and I'm finally getting around to fixing these. Can anyone recommend any good panel shops to visit / plastic welders to get this sorted? I won't use my insurance company as I already claimed to fix the building I hit that caused the damage ( long story ). Any idea on how much you guys think this would cost to get her looking pretty again?
  17. Great suggestion elmarco - thanks! I have been seriously considering a Golf GTI as it may better suit my needs however, the E39 is quite economical on long trips etc. All comes down to my personal needs / wants in a car which I'm yet to revisit.
  18. Very valid comment here and where I'm trying to save cash, is the ongoing cost of a car in general. I would rather fork out the initial cash for a later, more economical car than buy something that is cheap to own when in hindsight, is going to burn my bank. Exact case has happened here. Been looking at the VW Golf's and they seem like a fun car - my partners mother has the newer 2011 GTI and that's a bit of fun.
  19. Thank you driftit - I will check out the 530D. I hear they are quite grunty for a diesel so sounds like a good option.
  20. Great suggestion mate - I will have a look. Many thanks :-)
  21. Hah funny you say that I am an avid bike lover and it has been on my mind. Safety is a number 1 for me coming into winter / wanting to avoid getting rained on. Bike probably for summer.
  22. I love my car on the open road - very economical. It's just getting to the point where you do the numbers each week on the cost of a full tank does add up each month / year. Finding myself looking at cars / friends that have fun cars that are much cheaper not only in gas but maintenance / service too. I'm not having a whinge, I understand that when you buy a BMW you pay for the brand / parts that go with it so non issue there - it's more a realisation and exploring my options to stick with BMW as they are great cars.
