220KM, and 100% honestly, it really isn't showing it. Friends are always surprised when I say it's done 200k, to me as someone that's own 27 cars it looks like it's done around 130-150k max, usually I'd expect a 200k+ car to have extra soft suspension and worn interior etc... but she's very tight, it's a real bugger that I broke the door stay-open thing as that's the only thing that's gone wrong over the last few years.

Spotted: E34 540i Manual Purple in Christchurch - Who owns it?
sammcj2000 replied to sammcj2000's topic in General Discussion
Interesting... It was very tidy indeed. Tastefully lowered on the exact same Schnitzer 18's I have on mine. Also, had a tilded twin pipe muffler that gave a bit of a rumble. Interesting thing was, when he booted it and I heard him changing into second (or third? I'm not sure what the radio's on the 6 speeds are like) I heard a bit of wheel spin which made me wonder if it wasn't running a LSD and perhaps had a manual conversion done? -
Was just dropping someone off at the airport in my E34 and was following a very tidy manual e34 540i, purple in colour. Anyone know who owns this? The guy seemed a good sort and we had a bit of a laugh after passing at the lights. Interestingly the manual didn't seem to be quite as quick as my auto, although I have chipped it and removed the cats. Oh and also, MERRY CHRISTMAS to the other bimmersporter's It's been too long since I've popped in to say hi. Sam.

E46 318i M43B19TU Uneven / Irregular Acceleration

Sorry to wake up a dead post but... Ross is still having this issue with his car. Since the last post his pre-cat o2 sensor and air filter have been replaced. He's just reticently noticed that the car is MORE responsive with the Air Con ON - (Go figure?) What could this point to? Thanks, -
Microchips-Tuning performance chip for M60 / 540i
sammcj2000 replied to sammcj2000's topic in Performance
I feels like it picks up the rev's easier at the mid-low end and there feels to be a bit of an advantage at WOT. Early days though, I'll post an update in a few weeks. Note: I am bloody pissed off how long it took to get to NZ though, 3 weeks! -

A dyno would cost more than the chip. -

OK took it for a 'quick' (chuckle, chuckle) spin around a few back roads. Definitely a bit of a gain, will be interesting to see how it performs in the coming weeks, will be watching the fuel economy too. -

I agree with you about the Dyno, but (for me) it's simply not worth spending big $$ to get an automatic dyno-tuned, there is a massive difference between moderately tuning to mildly increase performance the perhaps and economy and getting the 'perfect tune'. Straight out - when I did my 328 it made a big difference, to both fuel economy and performance. Basically, If I can get the same out of this chip I'll be happy. Time = $ Time not spent tuning it myself again = $ saved $100 = piss all to spend to get a limited gain. EDIT: BTW, installing a Dinan chip in a stock M60B40 see gains of 15- 36HP on a Dyno. With Dinan you're paying for the brand name, yes it might be slightly more fine tuned and rigorously tested than another brand but they all basically do the same thing. -
8k!!! geez. I'd hope he's done a manual conversion for that.

No, 8% should be right. I did the same tunes to the 328 and made a massive difference. Fuel, spark, WOT adjustments, rev -
Has anyone seen ether of these two old bimmers of mine around? (Christchurch) I can't find photos of my 525, 318 but... That blue E30 (SA built) was a bloody mint car, never should have sold it. May as well add some other non-bimmer machines I've had below too (yes, you can laugh at some of them!) And at 22 that's not even half of them And the token riding around town with a blowup sex doll photo...

Sorry to deviate from the lol's here, but just remembered another really great one in CHCH that i don't have a picture of. -There is a guy with a Turbo E46 M3 with the number plate 'NO HP'. As in, paid cash - very cool.
