Just thought i would put this up here before it goes on trademe and see what interest is out there. This car is a 1988 535i automatic. It has done about just under 200k miles, which is about 300km. Although it has high k's it is still in very good mechanical condition. I bought it with the intention of tidying it up but have ended up with too many projects and no time to do it. I bought it from a friend of mine who is a bmw specialist mechanic. He has owned it for several years. When he had the car he serviced it as required, replaced all of the rear suspension about 8 months ago and fitted the wheels etc. Since i have bought it i have done, oil change, 4 new tires, water pump, radiator, thermostat etc. Good parts about the car: 3.5l has lots of power and drives really well. M-tech 2 steering wheel. BBS wheels, Lowered, Clear indicator lights, Towbar, sunroof, new rear suspension. 4 new tires, plus more that doesn't spring to mind. Bad points of the car: slight clear coat fade on roof and rear bumper, worn interior, missing piece above rear view mirror cheap enough from someone like Hellbm small dent in boot lid. wobble at about 100k (front reaction arm bush, common e34 issue, approx $80 per side.) The warrant has just expired and registration has a few months left. Will be taking it for a wof early in the week. Wanting $3k with new warrant. Cheers Oli 0274839222

E36 ratios arnt the same as e30s. E36 manual box 1 to 1 5th gear. E30 box 0.8 to 1 5th gear. 3.6 is good on e30 not on e36

Sounds like the gearbox has selected two gears at once. Does the gearstick move freely even though you cant get any gears, or is it stuck in one position? Check the shifter linkages are all still attached correctly.

The car also has 20mm front swaybar $100 51mm front struts with almost new, and perfect operating Munroe shocks. $300 for struts with shocks. Good headlights, good tail lights. $40 per front side, $30 per rear side. Front bumper, no rust, slight bump in front but not very noticeble, good for racecar $40 Rear bumper, straight but slight bit of surface rust. $20
