  1. I was just having a google around and found this website... BMW DIY http://www.bimmerdiy.com/ A very clean but well compounded website covering only 3/5 series: BMW 3-Series BMW 3-Series 2006-present: E90 BMW 3-Series 1999-2005: E46 BMW 3-Series 1992-1999: E36 BMW 3-Series 1984-1991: E30 BMW 5-Series BMW 5-Series 2004-present: E60 BMW 5-Series 1997-2003: E39 BMW 5-Series 1989-1995: E34 Seen that we still have a large number of E30s and other old school BIMMERs roaming around this guide should be most useful...
  2. hahaha...Im Castor Bay/Milford...so Im like a 5min drive from your crib? Dont know is it just me or what but there are more North Shore members than I expected~
  3. yea...318i being 4 cylinder...SOHC unless 318is which is still 4 cylinder DOHC... when you get to the 320i+...not only do you get the DOHC throughout the whole range...but all are of inline 6... if you want something more than a 1.8L...might as well get it as it is... One thing about the 318i is that it should be more economical than the larger engines...but again...driver and other aspects are taken into consideration...with my 318i I do more than 500Km+ per tank...which is nice when fuel is expensive~...
  4. Just one word of warning...to Acer owners...Acer tends fail more than other brands...I dont know why...dont ask me why but I used to fix laptops as a way to pay for my expense...not major problems...just small problems like screwed up speakers, keys wont work etc...nothing major but can be a hassle...so keep those issues in mind... I am not in anyway offending Acers users...just a word of warning...
  5. Yo bro...I do like the 1st one aye...more brake fleshed exposed...looks more agressive...
  6. we owned...thats all that matter
  7. Ive been joined for a while but havent really put the account into use until recently...and I just hoped I should have months ago... So I suppose Im new here...not very techie with cars but getting there already within a few days with the help from friendly members of this strong BMW based community... I dont have any flash...but a damn typical BMW E36 318i which my mum bought a few years back...costing 72K which is just a big joke today...today I roam the streets of North Shore with it...its a real shame that parents only give you the old stuff when they are just about to buy a BMW X5 and Z4 Anyways...this be me ride...
  8. Just under 2K with Goodyear Eagle... Im still open with options...still waiting for the school holidays before I buy so...yea You got a website or something? Appreciate your offer...What I like is...something with deep dish, polished lip and something that exposes a lot of brake flesh~ Cheers~
  9. Thanks for that information...seen that you drive a E36...what rims do you have at the moment? Can 18x7.5 mags fit 225/40/18 tyres?
  10. All good bro...we all learn right? Rogan...you be the man...hahaha...holy mack that was some wicked advice... So its best to also have the installation done by professional? Would I need a cap? 318i doesnt have big battery...
  11. sorry what is porting? bigger box = more boom?
  12. Got any M-Tech front/rear bumper to suit E36 318i?
  13. Interesting information there about different size of subs to suit different gene of music...I gotta say...I listen to house...pratically only house...but I want the BOOM BOOM...so...what to opt for?
  14. haha...thanks mate...totally taken onboard...just beginning my first steps into audio modifications...just not sure what I would step into...with two 12"...So its always better to get a good single sub than two average subs...I guess that sounds more logical anyways... As for a head deck...what brand or model should I be looking at...totally noob at this...I admit...I do like Pioneer though...just need something not too shabby...with MP3 playback... Once again...greatly appreciate your advice~
  15. yup...advice taken onboard...your sound advice of having 225/40/18 sounds good...thinking about the cost of tyres in the future...really troubles me at times...being a poor student...earning every single penny is hard... Would it be hard to source 225/40/18 tyres?
  16. Thanks for your advice there...just wondering...A guy is offering 1.1K for a system which includes: -Pioneer DEH2950MP Head-deck -Pioneer GM5200T Ampifier -Pioneer TSW301R 12" Subwoofers (2) -Custom Sub-box for a perfect fit in the boot -Cables -Installation Worth the bucks I throw at it?
  17. This? Just looking at the final tyres that I would use...225/40/18s front and 245/40/18 rear...hopefully should be all good if I dont lower?
  18. Just wondering if anyone has any experience in upgrading their audio system on a E36 before... With the stock system in place I thinking of adding an ampilifier for dual 12" subs, new head deck... Has there been any issues or difficulties of DIY or should we always find professionals to do it... If so...any good car audio shops around North Shore or Auckland? Ive tried the yellow pages...but not much sucess...
  19. oh ye bro...Im not all that clear on offsets...done some research but still fairly unlike as to what the offset of a BMW should be...and if I do upgrade to some 18" will my offsets need to be adjusted or not? If so...to what settings? Chur bo~
  20. I wont be lowering...make it that I cant lower my ride due to the location of my crib...bloody drive way...if I lower it...my car will make love to the concrete day and night...ye...so next time you see a red BIMMER with some 18" unlowered...pumping bass...you'll know its me...
  21. Oh chur bro... My other "cheaper" options is wacking on a 190/?/18 which is bloody narrow you know I mean? but freaking heck...where do you get 190 tyres? the closes are 185 and 195...so what to go for? Ive seen people run wide with slightly narrower tyres...look fine but are there any issues doing that? Thanks bro~
  22. I have been looking at mags for my E36 currently riding on 205/60/15...yes very suxy I know so its time for a change... Ive been looking at a set of 18"...to be more accurate...215/?/18 front and 240/?/18...are those 240s too wide for my rear? Referring back to the BMW manual it says the maximum wheels for my E36 are 235/40/17...so...an extra 5mm should be all good? Thanks in advance...
  23. whats your asking price?
