Have any of the centre caps?
-
Was this car in Christchurch at some stage?
-
Mmm, good point. Well, I'll get it out and inspect it closer anyhow. I don't have any brake booster at the moment
-
Oops, probably should read more carefully... Also, had a closer look at the PCV and the valve releases the pressure from a small hole at the bottom of the housing which is directly above where the oil is pooling.. so perhaps it's still the PCV that's to blame!

Ok so everything that could go wrong has with this repair has 1. The very first Torx bolt I tried to remove (thankfully the most accessible one) got rounded.. this guy was not kidding when he said they are really easy to bugger up! For those that have done this before, what size bolts are used? I tried a T30 size which was too big and the T27 fit but had a wee bit of play and hence buggered it.. 2. Then I had a closer look at the current PCV and it turns out I ordered the wrong part.. although my Engine is an M60 it seems that I have the PCV of an M62? This engine actually came out of a very early model E39 so I guess it must have had a few upgraded bits and bobs. Inspecting the M62 diagram it seems that the connector is in fact a separate piece so I'm assuming re-ordering an M62 one should do the trick (can someone confirm this please). 3. And if all that was not bad enough, turns out the oil seep could not have possibly come out of the hole I thought as there is no hole lol, as you can see in the pics it's blocked. So it's back to square one trying to figure out where the oil is seeping from.. perhaps the intake manifold gasket needs to be checked.

lol jealous, awesome find man.

Can you get E60 550? If it's for the same price as 545.. I'm keen Heaps of people are recommending it for E34/E39 so seems to a good idea.
-
Sorry to suck you back into the money pit
-
Quoted up an E60 shifter from BMW, costs around 260 to get from Germany.
-
Yep, Hi-Tek's car. Buy it, it's the sh*t from what I hear.
-
Hmm E60 sounds promising !

eeexcellent

Yeh, sweet definitely what I need! Can you give me details of where I can get one / cost? So nothing connects up to the end of the PCV valve outlet is what I mean right..
-
The tube or the valve? I'm still not convinced the tube even exists for the M60.. From what I can tell it's just a pressure release outlet and is not connected up to anything although some I have spoken to seem to think otherwise.
-
So the shifter out of which Z3? Apparently there are differences..
-
Quick question, is there supposed to be a tube going from the end of the valve to the front of the intake manifold??
-
Guys, I'm fed up with my shifter as it's got way too much play and it's not OEM, hence I can't fit a proper M gear knob. Looking for options at this stage and seeing if anyone has recommendations. Seems like the Z3 shifter is the cheapest / most effective option at this stage but would really like to know what you guys have tried and tested. The best option available according to many is the Turners motorsport UUC Evo3 shifter but f**k me if I'm going to spend $500 odd for a shifter!
-
Yeh, will be getting the issue addressed tomorrow hopefully Fingers crossed it's not too costly..
-
The other question is, should I be really worried about driving it in this condition?
-
Sounds bad ay.. I was terrified at first but I THINK it's nothing serious... Anyhow, the M60 is leaking oil all over my garage (Only a few drips a day but still annoying as hell). The idle is also a bit rough and car does not seem to start up smoothly, sometimes even taking several seconds before it fires up. Traced the leak back to the left side of the engine coming out of a hole at the back of the intake manifold (visible when removing the rocker cover). Have done a wee bit of reading and I think this is the intake manifold cover or PCV? Initially I thought that a hose was suppose to connect up to it or something however according to the diagram M60's don't have anything connected up there. After more research it seems that ALL my issues are linked to the one fault... a faulty PCV valve!? Article 1 How to fix Just wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue and if my assumptions are correct here?

Already hate all the cars it's trying to compete with.. and this one is no different. Yuk
-
So you still wanting to sell it? What happened to the E30 you were looking at...
-
From Clinton's post, I can't see how you guys have interpreted it as a "brag" or "wank" thread.. How the f**k can you consider a legacy, or falcon wagon bragging is beyond me. Seems to me like this is a thread about looking back at what has been and gone and the crazy phases / times we have passed through. So I'll participate! (minus the pictures else people might get on my back) 1. Honda City yes... it was the sh*t and lived on petrol fumes, I was 15 and it was a million times better than riding a bike to school! 2. Legacy wagon GT Compared to my Honda, this thing felt like a rocket when I first drove it. Was my first and LAST subaru, cost me 4 times it's worth over the years I had it and was very much a love hate relationship. So fast yet every time you gunned it something broke. 3. Mitsubishi Mirage wagon (in a random pink color lol) I was so f**king broke at uni and just wanted something to get me by. Bought it for 500 then a year later someone hit me head on and his insurance payed out 2k! Bonusss 4. E36 325i (in dolphin grey) My first BMW and the catalyst to this stupid obsession I now have with BMW's.. Was such a mint car and still see it often as I sold it to one of my best mates. 5. E36 M3 The most amazing car and probably the most well rounded car I have owned to date. Obsessed over getting this for years and achieving the goal was super sweet. 6. 1990 Honda Accord (5 speed manual 2L) Managed to sell the M3 for good coin and opted to invest rather than spending all my cash on cars so had to downgrade. The Accord was perfect, would buy one again in a heartbeat. The PERFECT daily, electric everything, cruise control and just a sweet ride for sh*t all money. 7. E30 M325 Tech-II Missed owning a bimmer so once I had saved up enough it was time to see what this E30 craze was all about. The hunt led me to this which sparked the newly new found obsession of E30's! 8. E30 340i Although the Tech-II was loads of fun to drive, it just was not enough power and I began itching for a beast again... the V8 was a no brainer, ticking alllll the boxes. So it's back to throwing all my savings at the metal parked in the garage

What he said.. Have been on the hunt for a month with no luck. And it's not even like I'm looking for a bargain..
