  1. hey nice conversion man, it looks good. i've just found this and was reading and noticed the first hydraulic release bearing you had, cos i had one of those between my 1uz and w58 too, and it too crapped out on me. it lasted about an hour each time before it would break the seal and I'd have to pull the car completely to bits to fix it. I too went for a completely new setup, so I feel ya pain there. its bloody annoying (and expensive) having things re-done. have you thrown it down the quarter yet?

    Rb20det

rb20det conversion's a bad idea imo. they're very heavy motors and are only two litre. by the time you mess round with intercooler and piping etc, you may as well do an LS1 conversion for similar coin. more power, similar/lower weight, and a sound that craps on any skyline engine, particularly when coming from a beemer. t56 would be awesome too.

    Turbo or V8?

ill save ya some time and money and sell you my car, fully engineered, v8'ed, shaved, race braked, etc, just needs cert and a paintjob... its e21, not e30, but i reckon they look better. more oldschool lookin. or you could get it and chuck all the bits into your e30? http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=19863 chur

    340i v8 show/race spec

cheers for the comments guys. originally i was going to bring it over, paint it satin black, spend a bit more on the suspension (rosejoints, big sway bars etc), and chuck a vortech on it, but i want to get into drifting so think a built s14 200sx would be better for my needs. registering it in oz with all the mods won't be easy too, which is why a sale is a tempting, if disappointing, option that i am putting out there. if i cant get half what i spent on it, ill just wait a year or two and ship it over, put a cage in it and maybe just use it as a track car lol. pm me if you have an offer or would like to discuss options. cheers
  5. fully detailed lexus v8 powered e21, completely custom inside and out. fully modded and detailed driveline, body, interior, etc. needs a strip and paint and more work on the interior to finish it off. no cert yet but should be easy, all engineering done professionally and with regulalr consultation with certifier. need to sell as ive left the country and hence it is difficult to enjoy it from oz. over $35,000 spent, plus countless hours. Reciepts available, aswell as dyno sheets (191kw at the rear hubs at only 5200rpm, it pulls like crazy right from idle, and will sing to about 7k rpm all day if you want it to, the motors are well known to be near bulletproof) im after $20,000 ono. i will also consider offers on car without motor and gearbox, if you're not interested in having the shiny motor. (lexus 1uz can be replaced from wreckers for $1000 plus tranny etc). full build info/pics/vids etc - http://www.bmwe21.net/forum/viewtopic.php?...&highlight= cheers.
  6. "However car is still fixeable, but the owner is not bothered to do so" lol i think it could be slightly difficult to fix.
  7. im aware of what an m3 is, hence my comment about not cutting panels for pipes etc. the reason i mentioned FI was that the argument for keeping it original kinda goes out the door when you mod the engine and add motec, etc. if anything, a low boost (5-ish psi) vortech (or a screw type, eaton etc) system running through a rebuilt engine (keep it standard compression) would make better torque and power, cheaper. if you had to sell it, unbolt the vortech, retune the ecu and it is standard again. just trying to put some options out there...
  8. the stuff you're looking at doing seems pretty expensive. why not just do a standard rebuild but with some low comp pistons, then chuck some boost in it via a turbo or vortech supercharger? with vortech you'd barely need intercooling (no need to cut holes for piping or big front mount etc as im guessing you dont want to do). more power, more torque, cheaper. seems like the logical option? or am i missing something?
  9. ha sorry i didnt quite pick up on that. bit too young/ignorant lol. iv chucked some vids of my car up on youtube. they're the same ones that are in the other forum, but its probably easier to find them by searching for 340i in youtube and they'll come up. cheers
  10. those reiger-style kits are cool. theres definitely not enough nice bmw kits on local cars. good luck with the project
  11. haha yeah i would have rather had a bmw v8, so the lexus was a second choice, but one im stoked with none the less. regarding japan+german 'unifications', it couldve been worse, i couldve put a rotor in it....
  12. thanks guys. id like to add 1uz conversions to the bmw drivers id like to find. im sure they're out there, or is it just us, drifty340i? is there any even any slightly modified e21 owners on here?
  13. hi i just found this site and figured i may as well join up. my car; http://www.bmwe21.net/forum/viewtopic.php?...&highlight= after four years in the build its nearing certification, so it should be on the road soonish. id be keen to find some other modified e21 owners, as it seems there isnt many of us. cheers 340i
