  1. I've got the third pedal at least...

I don't wish to make any wholseale changes to the suspension or make significant power up mods to the engine (yeah right, maybe intake & exhaust) as I'm building a track car & have just about finished an RB26DETT re-build (ouch) so this 328 is really a cruiser with some sporting pedigree...if ya push hard ya slide around on the leather!

I'm struggling with tyre sizes though:

    Specification..Sidewall..Radius..Diameter..Circumference..Revs/Mile..Difference

    205/60-15........4.8in....12.3in....24.7in.........77.6in.............817.........0.0% - this is what we've got.

    225/45-17........4.0in....12.5in....25.0in.........78.5in.............808.........1.2% - as suggested.

235/40-17........3.7in....12.2in....24.4in.........76.7in.............827........-1.1% - this is BMW size recommended

245/40-17........3.9in....12.4in....24.7in.........77.6in.............816.........0.1% - very close diameter but pretty fat.

225/35-18........3.1in....12.1in....24.2in.........76.0in.............833........-2.0% - bit small on diameter

225/40-18........3.5in....12.5in....25.1in.........78.8in.............804.........1.6% - bit big on diameter

    235/40-18........3.7in....12.7in....25.4in.........79.8in.............794.........2.9% - ^^ +tyre shop recommended LOL.

    235/35-18........3.2in....12.2in....24.5in.........76.9in.............814........-0.8% - not a bad match but don't exist!

245/35-18........3.4in....12.4in....24.8in.........77.8in.............815.........0.3% - good match on diameter

  2. Seek a 2nd or 3rd opinion & confrim beyond doubt that the gasket has indeed failed.

As stated it may be far cheaper to just throw that POS engine away & fit another...which may or may not fail in the same way in the not too distant future.

  3. hard to say exactly coz i negotiated down a little bit although also got a 3 year mechanical warranty thats worth about $1500 dollars. so i could look at it as either a good price on the warranty or a good price on the car :D lets just say in the $10k's. not too bad from a dealer and it really is in pristine condition. i know privately they are cheaper however most of them that i saw had done around the 150km's+ this has only done 69km's. there is another E36 '97 323i on the yard at the moment with bbs mags and they're wanting $12k for it - its only done 33kms. they sold 3 bmws over the weekend, i had to queue up to pay for it when i picked it up tonight

    Mmm good deal

    Peak power @ 5500

    Peak torque @ 3500

    Redline @ 6500

    I think (edited for spelling)

Ah yup, that makes sense. cheers.

  4. I had a look at those M3 wheels but they're not my favourite M wheel - I think I like the wheels on the 3L better. They'd be best on a properly staggered set up and I've got the feeling I'd need some suspension mods to make that work properly too.

What do ya think of those wheels in my first post? Kinda on a budget here ;)

  5. Anyone recognise this wheel model? Or offer an opinion about the look.

Quite like the look but unsure how they'd look on our Arctic Silver E36. The tyres are useless to us as we'd run the BMW recommended 235/40R17 tyres so would have to sell the tyres, as well as the factory wheels & tyres our car already has.

    and then there's these

Not sure about using an 18" on an E36. If an M3 ran 17's who am I to go bigger on a 328i sedan?!

  7. is that at Tauranga?

Yes it is. Would you like a contact phone number?

Mine are going in next week. perhaps you'd like to see some photos before hand?

im pretty sure the grey sideskirts have body colour underneath them, the grey comes off with a lot of elbow grease......

Um...I believe it's the black rubbing strips mid way up the doors that we're discussing. I know my skirts are colour coded. Weren't only the very early E36's blessed with un painted (or grey over paint as you suggest) skirts & lower bumper lips?
