how hard is it to score the diesel crank in NZ? so u gonna use 2.7 L eta crank with 2.7L con rods using 325i pistons and 323 head?
-
shot Gus, nice article dude :thumb: where do u get Total BMW mag from?

What really happened on that day, only a few will know. As far as the majority of the public is concerned, we are all meant to believe the sh*t we got from CNN/ABC and so forth. Our society is driven by greed and self benefit. One group of people have to lose something in order for another group to become wealthier and more powerful........ Each war has a price and its own economic benefit for the aggressor. In the end of the day, we should all get a life and just get a long with our lifes and turn a blind eye to whats really happening in this f**ked up world. Unless u gonna do something about it, just stay quiet

i used a piece of old copper wire from line a phone or even a pin will do connect pin 7 to 19 and turn the ignition into ON position, dont start the car If u wanna be on a safe side, use a wire with a fuse in case something goes wrong its really easy

i am really suprised the E36's dont rub, my parents E36 got f**k all gap between the tyre and the rear guard, theres like 1 finger gap between the two. I suppose it comes down to suspension geometry and the guard design etc. But E30s with 17s look rude, i reckon 16 is the biggest wheel E30 can take and look good in my opinion. I wonder how big of wheels u could fit under the E30 M3 guards
-
i am just suprised no one noticed this when the whole interior/engine was ripped out during the rebuilt/mod stage cuz i dont think one huge hole in the floor appears overnite.......
-
get like mongoose or AVS make sure its the "5 star" alarm rating alarm they sell for like 200-300 plus install i think
-
make sure u put the right oil in the diff as well. I believe E30 diffs take 80W viscousity oil. Mite wanna go and see Ernest at Bavarian Motors in Glenfield

I am gonna start looking for a M325i as well very soon I hope, the problem is finding a good one for a reasonable price. But the thing is just about every man and dog on this forum is gonna be after one as well. and thats where Supply/Demand price war comes in If i wont be able to get one for 9-10k, i will have no choice but to settle for 325i and i dont wanna sell my 318i for like $1000 just because its "318i". Its like in mint condition with low km, but ppl see 318 as 318.

the shell u got, does it like have rego or rego on hold? if it doesnt u pretty much have to register a new car for nz roads, and i dont think u can register E30s any more with all the new frontal impact laws etc cuz the chassis numbers are different, so like insurance and wof places will treat the new shell being dodgy get a car thats registered with a f**ked engine or whatever for like $1000 and transfer all the running gear into it and get it certed. I think thats your only option i am afraid. Paint? well depends how good u want the end job to look, el cheapo paint mite be a few hundy, decent paint job u looking at a few grand. Not sure how much the whole transplant of engine and etc will cost u as well. To sum it up, get a car with rego and do the swap, then save up for paint and kit etc.

your ride sounds pretty sweet dude, wonder why did that guy sell it for or is there anything minor wrong with it aye?
-
could be a few things aye, are u sure its the diff? if it is the diff, either have to get it reconditioned or probably source one 2nd hand from another e30, doesnt have to be the same ratio, as long as it bolts on aye, saves u time looking for identical one
-
depends how complete the engine is, i bet there will be a lot of ppl on the forum keen i smell a bidding war coming up hah
-
i am scared to think what u can do to a 325i say for 50 odd thousand u got in ya bank instead of buying that M3
-
got more details and pics what gearbox does it come with? location of the parts/car?
-
its without head, and i can take a guess a head to match would be next to impossible to find so only good for someone with M3 already
-
they r pretty much the same engine dude, just the displacement is different ie: M20B20, M20B23 and M20B25 There are Getrag 240 and Getrag 260 boxes out there, ratios are slightly different all the 325's are equiped with the Getrag 260 also some early 318's got ZF S5-16 box

Personally I dont think its worth the hassle and money to import an old 318is, u cant register it for road use. For parts? well the only thing someone mite need out of your car is M42 engine and possibly the ABS setup. Everything else is readily available for E30s in NZ. I mean u could buy the bottom of the line 318i for like 1500-2000 with wof and rego and the shipment from UK alone will be worth around $4000 by guess. If this was like an M3, it would be worth it. Even going the dodgie way of forging the chassis number etc. All u have to do is simply steal another cars identity. So buy shitty coupe E30 with rego, and simply get that chassis code stamped on the M3 Chassis and conceal the old one. So your car will be registered as say 318i but it actually is an M3. Get a cert as well to say u got like a different engine/running gear etc from stock 318i. eg: on the plate it will say engine swap or something like S14 instead of M40. I know wider wheel arches will give it away to an enthusiast that its an M3. But in theory its all legit. :mosh: :mosh: :mosh: :mosh: :mosh:

To clarify any bull sh*t/myths/rumours people been posting :P "Like many car manufacturers, BMW assigns code names to their models/chassis while they are in development (i.e. - E36/2). The 'E' translates into a German word for 'development'. Each 'E-number' refers to a model series (3,5,6,7,8) with variations such as station wagons, hatchbacks, or convertibles. Models created before the E-system have Type numbers. Thus, an E36/2 would represent a 1992 or later 3-series coupe, the 2nd variant of the E36 chassis."

Motorsport 325i are around 9000, price wise There is one for sale in Hamilton for $9750 I know Motorsport version has LSD and all the nice options etc, but like u pay a few grand more and u can get a newer E36 with way lower kms. Comes down to preference in the end. Not too sure the difference on mtech 1 and mtech 2 though.

could u just get like ETA crank and get it lightened? i assume u turboing your M20, cause no point getting forged for N/A engine the amount of time/effort/money u gonna spend turboing your M20B25 u probably be better of sourcing an SR20 or RB25 motor from nissan and just find a drivershaft or modify the driveshaft to make it all work. just bore it out to 2.7L and leave it N/A u got enough torque and just work the suspension etc to get a nice balanced car. No need for 600hp monster for road hah M3 S14 is good for 300-350 N/A but thats got a dohc head u got like SOHC but u can have 2.7L displacement with sh*t load of torque or get M30B35 off old 635 and u will have really fast straight line car IMHO anything u planning to do, will cost u $10k, if u do the labour yourself u could half that figure Andrew spend $xxxxx.xx just to get stock OEM components replaced and some minor performance mods like port/polish and lightening of crank and fly plus the M20B23 head

As far as the story goes V1 is one of the best. Could get them under 1G from like parallel importers The thing is like some cops dont turn the radar on, and when they see u they just flick it on and u dont have time to slow down to avoid the speeding ticket. General rule: just watch the road, look for any vans, station wagons parked on the rd, watch out for Commodores especially plain ones without Alloy wheels etc New law came in so cops cant hide behind trees and sh*t, so this works in favour of us. All you north shore speeders, watch out for brownish Holden Rodeo (ute) i think its called, thats undercover cop car Around town, watch out for Black SS Commodore (Undercover cop) If u gonna speed, dont do more than 40km/h over the limit, so if the speed limit is 50, dont do more than 90, if its 100 dont do more than 140 no more than 30km/h over the speed limit applies to zone speed less than 50km/h so sh*t like Road works, Accident signs etc if the limit is say 30, dont do more than 60 If u a smart cookie, u less likely to be caught. So like undercover cops aim is to catch the "Aware Drivers" really :finger:

M3 = normal E30 coupe chassis with wider wheel arches to accomodate wheels up to 10 inches wide powered by M10 block with DOHC head = S14 engine 2.3L or 2.5L for evo 2 and 3 model. comes with LSD, motorsport aero package, slighly lower rear window i think there are only like 10 or so in NZ, chances are u cant afford one man they like $30k and are very RARE its a very balanced car, its kinda like AE86 for toyota One day i will try to source one and convert it to 2.5L, will cost u a fortune to souce one E30 M3 is a dream for any BMW enthusiast, only a few chosen ones get to explore the power and balance of such machinery. :mosh: :mosh: :mosh:

u guys spend a lot of money on insurance hah why not just have a race car and sh*t daily driver, save money hah and have the best of both worlds go third party with fire and theft, just keep it for the black day when u hit a lambo or something
