    Oil cooler

Thanks for the comments, you are probably right about the thermostat it has what appears to be a heat sensitive spindle under the spring but I still do not Know which modle its from. You are also right about the MAP sensor, 3 lines for that 2 for vacumn and 1 for air temp. I did a lot of reading befor I built the manifolds and 300mm from valve head to throttle trumpet end seems to be the best for mid range torque, i just hope I am right. Wayne

Sorry, looks like I got a bit carried away with the photo post, they are the same, just take your pick. W

    Oil cooler

Thanks all, I have looked at ETK for an E30 325i and it does have an oil cooler but no pressure relief valve, the M3 is a 4 cylinder and this is a 6 so I am still not to sure of its origin. I wil just put it in with a cooler and hope the existing internal pump can handle it. I have included an update of the engine bay, still trying to figure out where all the wires go. Thanks again Wayne

    Oil cooler

Hi all, When I purchased my 2.5 doner block it came with an oil filter bracket (see photos) that I assume has porting for an oil cooler. I have a couple of questions about it: 1, is this an after market or excessory unit? 2, does it require or come with an external pump? 3, if not why has it got an oil pressure relief valve? 4, can anyone tell my what model it is from? Any and all answers greatly appreciated. Wayne

    What HP

Thanks for that! 127 HP seems a bit light! But you get what you get.
  7. Can anyone tell me what the HP or Kw is from the standard E28 525e? Thanks Wayne
  8. I am very satisfied with the end result on my car. It is like anything 90% preparation 10% operation. You will need to wash all dirt off the rim lip and heat the area to allow the paint to fold with the lip. This in 99% of jobs will be perfect. Ask somone else who has had it done. Wayne
  9. Thanks! and you are welcome
  10. Just wondering would anyone be interested in this. I have made a guard roller to do my car and would be happy to roll guards for others for a small fee. I am in the Waikato, have attached shots of same. Wayne

    The Hate Thread

I hate that my teachers at school said I would never amount to anything, and they were right. I hate that. I hate that I was sure I would get 300 BHP from my m20 and I only get 298. I hate that. Could it be the valves?
  12. The distributor on this one is right on the end of the cam shaft. I think it had a motronic pulse generator instead of mech vac advance. Thanks for that offer but I now find that it came with all of the sensors I require. I forgot the most important thing when buying new toys. Unpack everything first and play Dont read the manual. I may have more questions.
  13. THanks Andrew, I have just recieved from EFI Aust. a list of the input requirements for the Hawk. 1) Air temp sensor. I can mount this on the intake manifold. 2) Water temp sensor. Will go in the usual place. 3) TPS sensor. On the end of throttle shaft. 4) MAP sensor. I will fit to the end of the vacuum rail. 5) Ignition Module. Any good coil will do (Bosch 024 008) I think this is just about all I need, EFI tell me the distributor must be used to pulse the ignition output. I have inported from the US a HOT ROD WIRE 18 circuit wiring loom to replace the std one. This has all the necessary for a road car with none of the BS. (the std one is over 25 years old) Again Thanks.
  14. I do not know what batch fire is! There are no sensors on anywhere yet. That is what I am trying to figure out. I think you are right about the TDC sensor on the harmonic balancer. Because this engine came with no electrics I have had to work with ETK to figure out what car it came out of and how it all worked. I am gessing but It probably had a pulse generator of some sort.
  15. Mosen was unable to give me a year, and unlike the E21 cars the engine # is not the last 7 digits of the chassie number. So I do not know the year. I think I will run 6 coils and use a crank sensor for TDC.
  16. I know this is a dumb Question. But would somone please explain how the motronic Ignition system works in an E30 2.5 six. eg. crank or cam sensor for timing and so on. The engine that I am transplanting was in a fire so when I recieved it there was no rubber, plastic or wire attached, just the short block. The engine is now rebuilt and its time to figure out how to time it and provide the right info for the HAWK ECU. Thanks I see heeps of photos of fancy wheels on here so here are some I tried out
  17. Thanks Andrew, I sent a reply to you via email. The throttle bodies I have are EFI and are now available in NZ, if you goggle EFI you will find them and your nearest supplier. No worries
  18. Hi To all, Questions, Questions. (1) The ECU is a HAWK it runs off MAP, MAF, throttle position and Oxygen sensors. (2) The steering rack is mounted into the back of the cross member. (3) Building manifolds, I have not thought about that but with the right incentive anything is possible. More Photos. (1) Is the white faced instrument panel. (2) Is the front suspention showing the steering rack. (3) Is rear suspention showing the break modifcations (front moved to rear)
  19. Yes I am, thank you. I would be happy to provide more info for those who might be interested.
  20. E36's & E30's do have rollover problems E21's do not.
  21. Thanks, it can with a little work.
  22. Hi and greetings to all who worship the sign of the propeller. I have an E21 323i which is nearing completion as a Targa car. I have lots of photos of the mods and special parts I have made for this car. Attached is a shot of the head with roller rockers.
