  1. i have been watching this 330ci : http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-174510863.htm looks really tidy in the pics
  2. yeah i love the touring as well, they're a nice looking car. really like the e30 touring as well. i've seen a few 330ci on TM but if they have low km's and high specs ppl still askin around $27- $30k. there are some for around $20k but km's are ususally over 100,000 which i dont really want if i'm spending $20k+ i guess the main reason this compact in particular interests me is the km's, the extra's, the fact that its a big engine for a small car (1300kg) giving it potential to handle well and go quite quickly. i also think theres a lot to be said for knowing the history of a car and the way its been treated by its previous owners
  3. definately agree, i didnt think much at all of the e36 version. i know the e46 compact doesnt have the stance or 'man factor' of the coupes or sedans but obviously that girly factor wont bother me. ironically though the compact e46 is a wisker wider in the body than the coupe and sedan... go figure
  4. greedy.... nah its probably smart then no one else can own an edirty... unless someone spelt it with a '3' for the 'e' but that isnt as good imo 350 is pretty unrealistic considering the new cost is 850, if i ever own another e30 i will be devistated that i let the plate go for so cheap it would be stupid. 700 is a good starting point cheers kim
  5. you want to own both plates?
  6. sorry guys, as per my earlier posts... i'm in no rush. $350..no need to pull the piss
  7. 199kw ti from australia: http://autospeed.com/cms/A_2850/article.html
  8. i noticed it was harder to swing out than my e30, tried taking the traction control off which helped a bit but still didnt swing like my old girl lol but could drive it alot faster through corners for that reason. turns out the e46 i drove is for sale. i have only seen one other 325ti for sale it was on TM but it was lower spec. funnily enough its actually in my family (my mums). its a 2003 has full black leather interior (sport seats not comfort style) only 50,000 km and she's owned it since 15,000km so full service hisotry. multi function steering wheel. and its NZ New. i can score that for $20k, they were offered $25k trade in when dad bought his new range rover but mum wanted to keep it. so i thik $20k is prob a fair price? 98% of the compacts for sale are 316 or 318's must make this rare?
  9. thanks jib, funny thing is i definately didnt get that boat/whale feeling with the e46 compact, it felt really tight and responsive. maybe its the weight difference?? i have read the compact 325 weighs 1300kg how does that compare to the sedan or coupe?
  10. 2001, would that make it a facelift? thanks for ur feedback dude.
  11. Did she get a coupe or a sedan? is there any difference in the handling between the 2
  12. hey guys, after a recent road trip in an e46 i have made the decision to buy a newer vehicle and sell my e30's. I will without a doubt own another e30 one day because they are IMO the best 3 series ever built. A trip to Ohakune from Welly in my e30 2.5ltr would be a tank there and 3/4 back. i did the same trip in a 2003 e46 2.5ltr and it easily used half the amount of fuel and had more power (but an auto shift). i had never driven an e46 before and i was utterly impressed by the m54b25 engine, the steptronic was surprisingly good to use once i got used to the direction of manual shift, i felt lost without a clutch but i soon forgot and started to enjoy the car. if you are not familiar with wellington, the paecock hill road is a great place to test the handling of a car it consists of a long hill climb with varying corners throughout. This bmw was very impressive uphill and great around corners, i was surprised as it is stock standard. Now the catch... the 2.5ltr e46 in question that drove so well and handled magnificently is a...... COMPACT! fancy that i never knew they made a 6cyl compact until i saw this one. So after this drive i think i have my heart set on an e46 for my next car, but i would like to get some opinions on people's preferences to body style, engine (bigger is always better, but more expensive lol), NZ new factor etc i like the facelift version, new headlights etc, i am also a huge fan of the 330ci. but this little compact has stuck in my mind... its lighter and it uses a different chassis which according to some of my research is stiffer. i know they look a bit like a nana kart but they are different.... and i'm a chick so the hatch back factor is prob less of an issue for me! (and the snowboards fit nicely with one back seat folded down) bimmersport members - what is your preferred e46? and why? Pref buy NZ new or are imports okay?? Cheers, any help or info is always appreciated Kim
  13. hey guys, i am parting with my e30's (sadly....) so i am open to offers on my personalised plate if anyone is interested. 'E DIRTY' - please note there is a small space between the 'E' and the 'DIRTY' Currently the plate is in red which is prob not everyones cup o tea but it really suited my matt black car with red and black smoked lights, black carbon look badges etc. Please bare in mind that the plate did cost $850 new and there is only one.. well nearly (ED1RTY ) some people on TM offering rediculous money like $300!! I am not in a rush so wont let it go for next to nothing. Cheers Kim

    Airlock????

Hey dude, thanks for your reply, really appreciate it. prob a silly question but should i hav the water reservoir/tank open or the lid on whilst bleeding?

    Airlock????

I have recently replaced the entire cooling system on my e30 m20b25; waterpump, thermostat, radiator etc as an overheating heating problem caused my head to crack..... very expensive venture i am now having terrible difficulty bleeding the cooling system. it seems that initially on my first attempt the heater was left closed (silly female i kno!) but after my 2nd flush of the system (have had to flush the system a number of times as when the head cracked my cooling system was full of crap) i made sure i had the heaters on full and bled the system with the bleed valve open but the heaters still blow cold and i am sure i have some sort of airlock or could the heater valve be jammed closed??? any help would be appreciated
  17. it appears very un-touched/changed to tell you truth, it looks like very few covers and bits have never been removed full tool kit etc. it also has cruise control which my one doesnt. i guess the first owner must have ticked all the boxes at the BMW dealership
  18. so all 325i's had battery in boot? full computer? or just a factory option? thanks for your help
  19. thanks for the info dude, with your "se" how does that differ engine wise to the 325 "i"?
  20. I have recently purchased a parts car, it is a pre F/L m20b25 and i have noticed the following things which differ from other pre F/L's i have seen in the past: factory battery in the boot? Cloth recaro interior full on board computer (where clock usually goes) Has someone opted for these additions from new or is this quite common for some 325i? i have yet to check if it has long distance fuel tanks (possibly SA model???) i also noticed a different BMW steering wheel more of a racey look, quite different from my original BMW wheel. After smoking up the rear wheels i am delighted in the fact that it has an LSD, could this be an iS model????
  21. Automovements Seaview Lower Hutt 260+GSt Auckland to Wellington Car was delivered next day in perfect condition
  22. Does anyone know much about these Doulble Sheared Secletor Rods? (see pic) I have recently installed a B&M short shift kit in my e30 and i can confirm that the throw has been significantly reduced (maybe 35%) the shift feels alot nicer although it is a bit stiffer into gear. the only downside is i still have the side to side play in my shifter once in gear.... i started doing some research and have found an american webiste that sells alot of aftermarket BMW parts (big brake kits etc) and noticed along with short shift kits such as B&M they also offer an upgrade on the selector rod claiming that this is the cause for the side to side play in the shifter http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee48/85e30/UUC_SRGJ2.gif http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee48/85e30/uuc_300.gif is anyone familar with this product or a similar upgrade?? Thanks, Kim
