  1. Ahh I see what you did there haha. Yeah it blows air just cold air all the time, but the odd thing is dad swears it was blowing warm air when I took it for a test run coz it had to demist the windows...in the time I sat at home before I went out again the car should have still been blowing hot air but no only ever so slightly warmer than outside air is at 5pm on a clear Winter evening, it wasn't on recirculate either and the aircon needs re-gassed too, it doesn't give out the crisp cool air that an a/c unit should.Oh god I can see myself making a few threads in frustration at not being able to figure out problems
  2. Ahh yeah it's Cosmo Schwarz Metallic with a off yellow/tanish leather yes. He got it from Armstrong Prestige 3 years ago.Sounds like I found the right forum to join with plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folk. I shall look forward to future meets and greets.
  3. You probably came here knowing what I am about to say. Bought this car today on the drive home dad thought the heater blew warm/hot air. After stopping at home then getting back in testing the a/c if it worked by lowering temp right down and turning it on (turns out it doesn't seem to) then tested heat found out it didn't work and hasn't worked since. Read a few threads on here about why and it sounds like it's the Heater Control Valve...I have a $300 service manual but its black and white with obviously bad quality photos. What I want to know is what are my likely options? Temp gauge needle sits nicely in the middle takes a while to heat up had it running on the spot for a while no oil drips but water marks around the edges of the car where it was sitting possibly from inside the body from when it was washed, both me and dad could smell a coolant type smell while driving he suggested it may have a cracked heater radiator hose or something like that (not familiar with heating systems as mine have always worked or never been a problem until now).
  4. Hey fellow BMW enthusiasts. My name is James, from Dunedin. Currently 24years breathing. My old man purchased his first '85 318i 4door in silver very tidy wee car indeed with 15" multi spoke wheels when I was about 15, we were out car hunting for him as he wanted something new, I spotted that wee minter in the yard took it for a drive took it home for mum to see she liked it too so he bought it, I got my restricted license took his BMW with his permission out somewhere and it came home with a rather large dint in the left back passenger door, from the day he bought the car thought both he and I (and I think mum too) have liked the comfort and style they offer. To date he has owned an '85 318i sedan, '94,5, or 6 318ti and still owns a '95 328i convertible with just over 100,000kms which is very very tidy would hardly believe it's a 95. Today I purchased my first BMW. She is a 1992 325i auto with 137,000kms and has the Vanos system, a few sad things about her she's a bit run down inside and out, see pics I will post up later. To my surprise though engine and trans seem smooth (shall be alot smoother after it's had a trans flush and oil change) drives nice and feels comfortable just like a BMW should. Anyway that's that look forward to future weekends spent in and around tidying up this one.
