  1. "Was wondering how elastic the price of petrol would be to bimmersport drivers, and what price would make you buy a hybrid/diesel or "small car" I think I'd be round the $150 per fill mark (about $2.50/litre) for the 328. Then I'd probably get a suzuki swift or similar for going to work!" Bought two Swifts for company last year, average 15.67km/litre, thats best Km/litre for round town driving so far
  2. Annoying little problem with airbag warning light, stays on for about 2 minutes and then goes off, VTNZ failed its warrant because it must go off after 6 secs following ignition, any heads up on possible cause, is it linked to the seatbelt connection, the seatbelt is engaged when the car is started, thanks in advance
  3. Heres some pricing - Monroes are good, upgraded a 325ic 1994 with Reflex's, the ride is much better, handles better pricing as follows: Autoalign Shops - on the BMW Car club supplier list they had the best price better than the local garage This was the final deal below for Monore Reflex's Monroe - Fronts 229 / 96 Rear Mounts 60 $803 Including labour & alignment Some pricing from the local garage: Monroe - 256 Front - 116 Rear Kaaba - 340 Front - 122 Rear Gabriel - 193 Front - 136 Rear Bilstein - 464 Front - 220 Rear Quoted about 4.5 hours & $55 per hour fitting front & rear, plus rear shock mounts ($76ea), pricing from local garage, he has been pretty sharp on the pricing with everything else on the BMW - Hey - remember to add in a wheel aligment as well around $60inc
  4. Maybe in the future Andrew
  5. Just illustrating what potentially clubs can be about.........hence my initial question
  6. Thanks for the feedback, just in passing, me and a couple of mates went to the Waiuku Car Festival in the weekend, and the car clubs I saw there just made me reach......for the bucket, one had to be at least 70+ and wear funny outfits, sit behind their cars on the pavement and try to strike up conversations about their Humber Snipe or Rover 90 tank as you walked past. I had better be careful here, as one could develop torettes syndrome very easily. One really decent car was the Bugatti Type 54 Ron Bycrofts son Terry had on display, good for 160mph in its day.
  7. Do many of you belong to the BMW Club of NZ, good - bad - waste of time??? Your opinions?
  8. It is going OK, after 25 years of two wheels, a convertible is great, no bike gear, I can drive in jandals, no bloody box on my head, I can actually conduct a conversation with an ever understanding misses, and you cant hear the kids whinging in the back seat about the breeze!!!! I was talking with a mate tonight who has just taken delivery of a F40 replica with a Lexus V8 etc etc...500bhp, and the thought occurred to me.......yep could a Lexus V8 be shoe horned into a 1994 352i convertible....you might be the man to ask?
  9. We have all had this bullshit mate, hope you can get it sorted easily/cheaply, I had the good fortune of catching someone in the act of dinging my Subaru, let the old L300 front passenger door go into my drivers door, put a bloody great dent in it just below the window, he just walked off, no apology, he just got busy when he came back changing a few tyres, only way they learn!! My local panel guy Dean Smith at Mobile Panel & Paint a bloody genius at this stuff, he has fixed the unfixable easily and cheaply 09 8389909, could be worth a call!! - That back RH door, Iv'e seen him fix worse
  10. Yes the top does need re-engagement, the local Auto Align Shop in Henderson did the shock replacement, and also reset the roof, many thanks to their staff, highly recommended.
  11. Just a quick question, after having the shocks replaced, does the folding top need re-engagement? I went to drop the top today after having the shocks replaced a week ago, the top stopped, wouldn't open properly, could hear the motors, but nothing happening, there was no diagnostic error message either, thanks in advance. It worked fine before it went into the shop.
  12. Where did you buy them and who fitted them mate?
  13. Have some pricing FYI inc GST (no fitting) Monroe - 256 Front - 116 Rear Kayaba - 340 Front - 122 Rear Gabriel - 193 Front - 136 Rear Bilstein - 464 Front - 220 Rear Quoted about 4.5 hours & $55 per hour fitting front & rear, plus rear shock mounts ($76ea), pricing from local garage, he has been pretty sharp on the pricing with everything else on the BMW, The Bilsteins courtesy of Auto align - no fitting charge quoted with this, or shock mounts - Hey - remember to add in a wheel alignment as well around $60inc
  14. Thanks Glenn, this 325ic has 17" mags, and possibly lowered, not knowing what to look for here, it might not be as well, I recently had all the wheels off to deal to the brake calipers, ie tidy up and clean, cant recall seeing any numbers on the shock body, there was a plastic cover that covered 50% of the shock so could be under that. Will have a quick look with the torch to see if I can pickup a serial number and get back to you.
  15. Talked to my local butcher shop, he reckons Monroes OK, Bilstein the next up the ladder, Kayma (Spelling?) the best, depends what you want to spend he reckons - if its your pride and joy top dollar, shopping basket - cheapest, I understood that Bilstein are the best, so I dont know. Because its such an important part of what makes BMW handle, you can only put the best shocks in. Most shops & dealers will recommend what they can supply and install, so you have to go with the brand of shock that will do the job for the type of driving you want to do....motorway who cares, rural and long distance driving - put in the best I suppose
  16. I am looking to update the shocks in a 325ic 1994 E36, I need some advice on value for money shocks, taking into account that the more money you spend the better the ride, so if any folk have done this upgrade, would be good to hear from you
  17. Thanks for the opportunity to join Bimmersport NZ, I am a member of some of the overseas Bimmers, which have been great for tech info and advice
