  8. Definatley check the bushes, particularly anything around the swaybars or on the swaybars as it doesn't matter how good the swaybar or diameter if the bushes are worn the effect of the swaybar can effectivley become nullenvoid, like any bush which is under any load in the suspension of any car, the rear springs in Graham's car are slightly stiffer than M-tech and the fronts are also stronger than standard E30, and as Graham like to drive his cars with some enthusiasm definatley an uprated shock and swaybars will also make a good difference, also the diameter of different manufacturers swaybars can sometimes give you a similar effect to each other even if there is a 2mm-4mm difference in diameter as it depends on the tensile strength of the steel which the individual manufacturer uses as we'll as the design of each individual swaybar as sometimes the shape or curve of the bends from different companies can also make a difference very similar to how a spring which may look similar to another spring but has a slighlty different design can be stronger or higher by one angle being changed slightly, also whether the swaybar is made using different manufacturing processes, or also in the case of H&R and Eibach and some other comapnies they are usually hollow which makes them lighter but the material they use is stronger hence the extra expense, I think in the case of whiteline (probably one of the best selling swaybars in NZ, Very we'll priced product), but I believe there bars are solid steel so a bit heavier.

  16. Thanks Zenetti, there are many different options available some cheaper, some more expensive, all brands are good in their own right, kings dobi jamex vogtland h&r eibach, some people prefer different height options and different price options, I deal with many different brands depending upon what the customer is looking for, ie. height, handling ,price, which is one of the reasons we import H&R into NZ as around the world it is considered one of the best brands you can get by many happy customers around the world which gives an unbiased opinion, but in saying that we are not here to undermine anyone else's product and respect other people's products and opinion's, which is fine but 3pedals we all respect your opinion but maybe a bit of diplomacy might be good as we have also had many years of experience, but myself and all the other forum sponsers on here are always willing to learn something new and leave our ego's firmly at the door to try and give the most up to date and informative knowledge available at the time, thats why we are here, if I wan't info on tyre options or mechanical knowledge I also use the forum sponsors, because quite frankly they know more than I do about certain things, Zenetti has many happy wheel and tyre customers simply because they get what they they are looking for, Botany Motorworx has many years of BMW experience and hard work early morning starts to people on back on the road as fast as he can, we are allowed to sponser the site because we wan't to do the best we can for the members, our advice is free.

  18. If you wan't to make your car higher you could drop all the beer off to my place, although after drinking it i'd look like this
  19. It's a bit of a tricky one really, certainly running a shock with valving to suit would help as we'll as using the thicker pads, the other thing you can do is wrap the top and bottom of the rear spring in plastic tube or clear fuel line which will raise the car by another 5mm-8mm reason for this is the rear of the E30 like other 3 series uses a lever action system so in essence sometimes the rear spring is actually stiffer than the front, so if you add 2mm by using a thicker pad it equates to about 4mm at the axle on the rear, so when they design a spring for the rear they take into account what is known as a motion rate which depends on the design of the car as to how much percentage the spring is increased by from standard, in Germany when the spring is designed they have to fit it to the said vehicle and pass a TUV test in which they have to retain shock travel at the same amount of load as if the original springs were fitted to the vehicle, which includes full fuel load and they take into account luggage and passenger weight otherwise they can't be sold in Germany, with this TUV test many of the manufacturers allow you to lower brand new vehicles without affecting mechanical warranties. If you are running Bilstein or Koni shocks you can get them revalved (Bump/Rebound), so that the shock characteristics are changed to suit your driving style or how much load you carry etc.
  20. Hi Guys, I imported something similer to the coilovers you showed in the picture once from Taiwan to check the quality, I brought them through a third party and landed them for a ridiciously cheap price which set my suspicions about the quality as soon as I saw the invoice, once the items arrived I checked them and found they weren't too well made, certainly there are some similar style coilovers out there which are good (but not many), and I wouldn't put them in my own car, I have spent a huge amount of money importing researching and developing suspension for the New Zealand market and still haven't managed to achieve the same discount I recieved on one set of the above mentioned kit of cheap coilovers, so the moral is SOME THINGS COST MORE FOR A REASON!, sometimes if you wan't a car lowered a certain amount LIKE 100MM LOWER THAN STANDARD, SOMETIMES YOU JUST SHOULDN'T.
  21. Post your contact number via PM and I can call you with the different options. Cheers.
  22. If your springs are from an E36 sedan or coupe (same anyway), the rear spring won't lower the back very much on a compact as they have an E30 spring in the rear of the compact.
