  1. Hi all, have the only 3 door 6R Polo in NZ for sale. It has been my wife's car for the last 4 years, but we need something bigger now.

We haven't skimped on anything mechanically, but there are some carpark scars which we haven't tidied up.
    - tyres and full alignment just done this year, Continental CC5's all round
    - Brake pads and rotors done with Genuine VW parts at Tristram last year
    - Tristram European installed alarm

We'd like $11,000 ono. But offers are welcome

...We also have a NZ New 2011 Polo 1.4 7DSG if anyone is interested in that. Both cars located in North Shore, Auckland.

  2. Figure I'd see if anyone was interested in my wagon.

It's been one of my favourites, stealthy family wagon with a bunch of torque. Always garaged, and I bought this off CamB, so the history is known. Unfortunately, I barely drive my car, have done about 1000km this year - so time to move it on :(

2005 Skoda Octavia vRS Combi, top of the line with all the options!

    97,000km

    1.8 Turbo 20v

    5 speed manual

REVO stage 2 - loads of features, boost, timing, map control

    Decat system

    4bar fuel regulator

All sorts of nice stuff in it, like:

    Half leather interior

Height + Reach adjustable perforated leather steering wheel

Height + Lumbar adjustable sport seats

    Aluminium sill protectors

    Boot net system

    Bag carry system

    Retractable boot luggage cover

Animal/luggage partition for seats up and seats down

    3-point centre belt

    ISOFIX

Cupholders! (something I never had in my BMWs, ha)

    Cruise Control

    Climate Control

    Bluetooth Music + Calls

    Factory 8 speaker system

    Power + Heated Mirrors

    Full toolkit

    Aero Roof racks

Economy has been 8L/100km around town, 5-6L/100km on the open road.

    Bad bits:

    - Scuffs on the front lip from my silly driveway

    - Minor staining on the centre part of the front seats, perhaps an old coffee spill?

$10,000, all offers considered. Might consider a swap for an motard, streetfighter, or maybe a 2 stroke Aprilia. But I am hoping to get a KTM Duke 390 which is the primary motivator for this sale.

Here's a cellphone pic from the last time I drove it (sorry it's filthy!). It is now clean, on standard wheels, normal plate, fresh WOF and live rego. Currently just lives at the back of my garage on a trickle charger.

  3. Cheers Graham, yeah it's mine.

Have treated it as a keeper and it holds a whole bunch of sentimental value now - hence the extreme reluctance to sell. But there are unfortunately more important things to throw money at right now.

  4. Listing conditions, defects, pictures, size, and price will help in selling them faster.

Or at least the size, it would give members an idea of the rolling diameter/whether it would be a correct size for their car. If it's a popular rolling diameter then you might be in luck, if not, then a $1res auction on trademe or tyre shop might be your best bet.

  5. in 2010 I think

IIRC, Chris bought it off me in 2010 I think. I swapped my E30 track hack for it with Sam in Christchurch - Sam rebuilt the 2.5 just before I took ownership.

I think there was a 2.7 block lined up for it in Sam's ownership, but certainly was 2.5 when I had it.

You really took care of it Chris! Saw it on the harbour bridge earlier this year, looked fantastic. Like Graham, I'm pretty sad I wasn't in a position to buy it back!

  6. I have a hazard light switch you can have if you pick it up.

Sweet have given you a text. Chur.

Ironically that is a Sony headunit. It's an XR-7300.

I have one missing a button that I want to use, but... it looks silly without it's button.

Any RDS head unit will also keep the power antennae up all the time, as it's a requirement.

lol, not sure there's any irony here. I don't mind what brand the head unit is, as long as it looks period (wanky, I know).

  7. The Sony head units look good. They are black with red lighting. So match the rest of the car.

For the garage door mod are you just going to pull apart a existing door remote or are you going to buy or build a programmable one?

I think I have a whole heap of these switches at home. Will have a look tonight. I'm just in Milford these days.

I'm trying to bring my iS back to a factory looking example, so if anything looks modified I don't want it in my car, gonna be a bit stricter on myself or it's going to be a slippery slope to another heavy modified e30!

I'm going hunting for a small enough programmable one, otherwise I'll just remote mount an existing board in the dash somewhere. The plus side is the ability to have the antenna in a nice prominent place like going up the side of the windscreen so range is going to be awesome I hope!

Oh sweet, you have my number I think. Give me a text, I'm just in Birkdale. :)

  8. Yes! Exactly that is was thinking of for the oil temp, was going to use a mounted breadboard in the dash somewhere instead of a pcb though.

i have used a big e28 fog light switch in my e28 for switching the aerial off ,for the same reason.

see the switch to the left of the stereo. same size as e30.

have some hazard switches iff needed

Hi Brent, yeah I have a blank slot in my hvac control (no AC), might bung a defrost switch in there for the antenna switch and leave the ones closer to the driver for oil pressure warning and oil temp.

ive only ever purchased sony head units and they only activate the aerial when you go to the radio setting! will be a very easy thing to do though, you just need to put the switch somewhere along the trigger line. garage door remote would be fine too, just need to de solder the current switch off the board, solder on some wires and a witch to end of those, done.

I really don't like aftermarket looking head units in e30s (or bmw for that matter). Very happy with my oem one (see pic), it has aux in the glovebox, just don't like the look of the antenna, so will only use it when necessary :)

  9. Hi all, was wondering if anyone has e30 hazard light buttons lying around for free/cheap? Kicking myself for giving away all the e30 bits I had a couple of years ago haha.

Would like as many buttons as possible to cut up/break as I'm trying to see if I can:

    1) incorporate my garage door remote into my dash.

    2) fit a row of LEDs in another button housing as a oil temperature gauge and oil pressure gauge.

    3) make an aerial switch, annoys me when it pops up even if I'm not using the radio.

Also, if anyone knows of someone else already doing the above, please do share - I'd love to have to think less :P

  10. i might be selling my backet weaves soon :)

Only my opinion, but it might be wiser to hold on to them if you ever plan on selling the car - modified 318iS's (or any car with vague collectability) don't seem to go for as much as minty fresh standard ones. But hey, if it means I get a cheap set of 14" basketweaves I'm not complaining :P

the "SE" side skirts, is that the correct name?

As the name suggests, they came on SE sedans, not 318iS's. I don't even think they were an option? Can't decide if I want a set on mine or not, really quite happy with how OEM looks.

  11. Wow, looks nearly identical to mine! It's weird that yours has the iS lip painted black and the lower sills red, mine has the black lower sills and red iS lip...I wonder which is the factory option?

Been trying to find some basketweaves for mine but no such luck :(

  12. My touring used to do 8.5~9L/100km on the daily commute <70kph. Facelift M20B25, manual, 3.64 diff.

Old race car did around the same thrashing it on the way to Taupo, PFL M20B25 (330,000kms), manual, 3.73 diff, stripped.

Current 'iS happily does 7L/100km blatting it everywhere, probably 8L/100km if you take into account speedo error.

All run on 98. Perhaps that's the difference?

  13. I would definitely recommend hpc, we had egt's between 950-1000degC with the exhaust right next to a painted surface and it did admirably. IIRC, IR gun on the external surface read around 600+? We were really impressed.

The problem is, I don't think it likes very big temperature gradients, ie water splashes when hot, etc. It was very durable otherwise, did fail when we had to do weld repairs on it, but that's to be expected.

  14. I wouldn't go for an e30 track car. Poor brakes, even poorer steering, and next to no power. I agree with e38king, is go for a late 90s Integra type R. Fantastic motor/diff/gearbox/suspension. Indestructible too!

The problem is finding an unmolested example.

Otherwise if you're insisting on a rwd, an mx5 with a cage is great fun if you don't mind a lack of power and aren't too tall.

  15. ^ Importing through a family friend, haven't even got pics yet :( 2 seater, ZG flares, L28. I'm pretty excited, ideally I'd keep both - but need to keep cash spare for a house this year (and a wedding!).

One day, I would like a car that sounds like
