  1. Yea, would scare the sh*t out of an unsuspecting driver, in context it has been tested by the same magazine with a 0-100 time the same as a new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, now thats really fast.

Whats more impressive as that it returns an average consumption better than my gutless 10 year old E46 328i.

So thats a SUV vehicle that can beat Mitsubishi Evo's at the traffic lights and return better consumption than a say a 5+ year old three series.

BMW have come a long way very fast these last few year, people may pooh pooh the styling but underneath they are light years from the 90's.

Not a fan of the first generation X3 myself.

I can vouch for that. I really crapped myself the first time I floored it in one of those 335i thingies...

Styling comes into its own over time. The e60 is the best looking 5 series on the road at the moment. It's grown into its looks and some of the 545s and M5s I see around the place just look plain awesome.

  2. It dosent matter who is in, they all f**k up some thing. And im sure you were one of the people to vote National.

I voted last election and I'm not voting ever again. Its just there to make you feel like you have a say every 3 years - but all in all, they ignore you and do whatever they like. I've watched the govt change over the years to little effect on my day to day life. Waste of time. I do appreciate that a lot of people fought to give me the voting right - but I'd also like to thank them for the right to not exercise my right.

  3. I wasn't under the understanding that it worked that way. I thought they would monitor torrents and send the IPs to the ISPs. I'm not being sarcastic, if it's invading your privacy then that is an issue.

Someone spends their time, uses their skills, to write a song, or a film or whatever and they try to sell it to make a living, they even copyright so people cant copy them. They do this to make money, and you hinder them from doing this by taking their music or film or whatever off them without paying for that.

I'm not lawyer, from what I understand, that is stealing isn't it?

I know I'm being a hypocrite, I've pirated sh*t before, but I accept that this is stealing.

You can try to refute my argument on the definition I merely just copied and pasted off dictionary.com, maybe I stuff up a bit, but that doesn't change the fact piracy is piracy and that is it illegal for good reasons.

    I get your point though.

I think we see the same side of the coin. It is illegal for sure.

The whole thing about the IPs being sent to the ISP is right. To ensure they know they are sending the letters to the right place, they have to keep a full history of the IP, activity and who on their servers. Currently, this is not a legal requirement - but, in september, it will be. Screw that. I don't want anyone to store my details about *when* I visit my online banking sites and the like. It is a small start to a very big idea for the future.

In the 1990s I downloaded ALL my music - everything was from Napster and all around the place. Then Apple did the whole iTunes thing and it seemed to be quick, easy and a reasonable price. I haven't pirated music since. In fact, I even went back and bought music I had to get a nicer version off the masters.

When it comes to movies, the movie companies didn't budge. They want to use lawsuits to sort out their lack of business model change. It is one of the only industries on the planet where the customer gets told how they will be sold to and how they will use the thing they have just bought. Times are changing and these idiots just haven't moved. I want a world where a new release movie is a worldwide release - and can be purchased from your AppleTV, GoogleTV, iPad, browser, and cinemas - whatever, on release day. They won't do it for lots of "maximising profit" reasons - but until they deliver the goods to the customer in the way the customer wants it - they are fighting a very long and painful battle.

Don't get me wrong, an artist or company should be rewarded for their talent and efforts - but they need to bring their works to the audience - not drag them into court and enforce the outdated delivery methods because of profiteering.

  4. No Troy.

    Steal

verb (past stole /stəʊl/; past participle stolen /ˈstəʊlən/)

1 [with object] take (another person's property) without permission or legal right and without intending to return it:

It's stealing because you didn't pay for it, which is the consideration which gives you the legal right to take it.

Actually if you carefully read your definition - then it isn't stealing.

Firstly, look at the wording - "take" which means "to remove". You are not "removing" anything.

"without intending to return it" backs up that suggestion of removal because of the "return it".

Copying a movie doesn't look like stealing at all. It is simply illegal to copy a movie for which you do not have legal rights - it isn't stealing.

    There, sorted.

  5. Wah wah wah. We might actually face consequences for stealing, after we are given 3 letters in the mail first. Get over it.

People who shop lift don't get 3 letters in the mail first and only possibly prosecuted the 4th time. So you've all still got it pretty good.

Although it is annoying for people who downloaded including myself, my legal and moral side is telling me it's about time for something like this.

I use a US iTunes account on my AppleTV and don't download. I'm more concerned about the ISPs now legally having to keep a full record of everything that happens on my ip address. Invasion of privacy I believe, copyright law was just a veil to get the net monitoring into law. Screw that, I'm encrypted and private.

What does your legal and moral side say about the "virtual video cameras" which are going to be setup on your ip address in September eh?

  6. I'm personally not too bothered that they've done this as it was always on the cards, I'm more bothered that they just rushed it through parliament without any public consultation. If I was to download "hypothetically" I'd only download TV from the U.K

Usenet providers such as Easynews are secure connections so there's no chance any author of material can see what's being downloaded to your machine at any rate.

Yes, not too bothered about it either...but....now ISPs have to keep records on what you are doing. Its a bit like police setting up video cameras pointing into your house 24/7. So while you live a life of good and never do anything wrong, you have these cameras spying on everything you do. Not good.

For those concerned, just setup with https://www.ipredator.se for a cheap encrypted VPN line. Seems to give 2Mbit consistently.

After watching parliament TV on this issue - it was hardly debated - what a joke. There is more discussion on this board about it than they went through in the 2 hours of crap they spoke. Most of the time they were saying how the opposing party was crap. Who cares!!!

  7. Meh, seed box in another country. Cant do sh*t.

Yeah, all over it. You can't prosecute what you can't trace. Piece of piss to get around this. But they will catch on and bring in even more draconian powers, that is the worry.

  8. They're probably laughing at you too.

Of course they are! I already know that - I used to drive Fords all the time....

I once had one of these meathead homodore owners ask me if the V8 in my M3 was a Lexus V8 cause he had never heard of BMW making V8s.....he thought I was full of sh*t when I mentioned the M5 having a 510hp V10.

As long as they keep paying tax they can continue to live....

  9. Maybe they could get our cousins to do the flash work and have a chav option package for trust fund kids?

    Posted Image

I think most would agree with you that it looks understated, but that’s the beauty of the M5’s, they have always been understated.

For me it’s the correct level of sportiness, the subtle colour and "normal" sized black rims are great.

You just know G-Power, Hannmmaammm or some other rice company will bring out a kit for it and vinyl wrap it mat yellow on 22" wheels so there will be no problem up specking it.

When ever I see one of those homodores on the road - I laugh out loud. They look sooooooooo gay!!!!

  10. Naturally aspirated engines that produced more power than turbo charged motors were pretty special though, it's good bye to non FI M3 straight sixs, M5 V8s and V10s.

But yes the V8TT in the SAV M is a neat motor, think this motor but 50BHP more for the M5.

one of the reasons why I bought the V8 M3...just to own a NA M3 before they go away

  11. Nope, you'll be surprised.

    '08 S65 is the same as '11 S65.

Not quite.... The 2011 S65 has all the defects of the 08 fixed. Example being the entire bottom end. The bottom end was superseded by redesigned parts in November 2008. You can see this in realoem.com, it shows quite a few redesigned bits. But, power output and spec are the same.

  12. Do tell, warranty job?

Had a knocking noise at cold startup after the normal VANOS rattle. The VANOS check valves were replaced. Didn't work. Then BMW sent down a new crank and bearings. Didn't work. So someone bit the bullet and sent down a crate engine. Nice shiny new 2011 S65. Mint. The old engine is on its way back to germany for a bit of analysis I suspect....

All under warranty - so very happy with the outcome. Just have to stay under 5500rpm and 170km/h for 2000kms. ;)

  13. question , do they come with iphoto?

im thinking on getting the ipad one , to replace laptop which i mainly use for surfin the net etc?

They have a photos app which you can get photos off your camera and send out via email etc etc. You need the camera connection kit to get the photos there. It gives you an SD card reader and a USB port.

  14. Actually just on this - anyone know what sim works with Ipad 2?? Nobody seems to know.

Got the wife one for her birthday and it suits her use well and loves it - I've asked around and no one seems to know what sim card it takes for the 3G - not even Vodafone.

    Anyone know for certain?

i have a iPad 2 running on 2degrees prepay. Confirmed. Works. No issues.

  15. Just to add to this again.

The vodafone dude is right LOL you have to pay $20 more to get a Ipad 2 Sim card to run on there network what a joke. Yes it might come with $20 credit but thats not the thing.. People wont things to just work together.

    Vodafone - I'm out. They are sh*t.

I have a few phones and the Vodafone simmed models are the worst. The 3GS I have is on Vodafone (for 3 more days - then I'm onto XT). It gets 1 bar of reception at my house - XT gets 5 bars. Actually, XT gets 5 bars everywhere I go!!! I drove from Hamilton to the bombays (talking to my sister on a single call) the other week on my XT iPhone and it didn't drop/stutter once.

If I try to drive from Albany to Takapuna while on my Vodafone iPhone - it will always drop the call around constellation drive. WTF?? XT and 2degrees don't do that.

So I ring Vodafone customer service who give this bullshit story about the network being fine and trying a reload of my iPhone software. I simply pull out the voda sim and drop in the XT sim - 5 bars. Even after doing that - they insist nothing is wrong with their network and that I should try to restore my iPhone. I didn't restore my iPhone - I turbocharged the bastard with another provider's sim!!!

    Bye vodafone. You SUCK!!!!!!!!

Everyone should move to 2degrees or XT - do it now. Forget the penalties, Telecom will give you a credit to nullify the penalty if you talk to them nicely. There is nothing like reception and vodafone have bugger all.
