    Radar Detector Ban Update

like really how can it be fair putting a 100km/h speed limit on a winedy south island road and then have a 100km/h speed limit on a very long straight where is only farm and double lanes with a barrier between oncoming traffic Definitly see your point. i think the problem with increasing a speed limit in New Zealand would be the people that think 100km/h is already to fast. (You can usually spot these people sitting on 80km/h with a line of angry truck drivers following them). I think in New Zealand the police need to also focus on people driving to slow for the conditions, as these people create a larger hazard when other motorists pass them. Definitely off topic

    Radar Detector Ban Update

I'm interested to know what the fine will be for getting caught using a radar detector, and also how this will be policed. Are police able to search a vehicle to try and find the suspected radar, or will legislation have to be changed to allow them to do so. I know their are some police on this forum. How easy is it to spot a car with a radar detector? Personally my radar is mounted beside my rear view mirror as apparently this is the most effective place to mount it (Radar direct). Just some thought's.
  8. The D&G guide is the most bias book i have had a read over. If you want to buy a Toyota or Mazda your probably reading the right guide. The fact that the D&G doesn't like nissan's is the part that got me. IMO Nissan's are on par with Toyota's and Mazda's, fairly reliable japanese cars. But if you take the advice of the D&G guide you wouldn't be touching them. We've had at least one in the family for as long as i can remember, never had any problems out of the ordinary.
  9. If your looking for another decent guy. Sherson auto's in Greerton. (Sherson Street). I've dealt with both Julian an BM & Shearson, Both awesome mechanics that definitely know allot about BMW's. Guy at Shearson's is an old guy that loves the cars and will explain anything he's done or anything you want to know in real detail. Really good to talk to. Also BMW specialists. My last service at Sherson: Oil Service New Antifreeze Air con belt Full set of brake pads And all the usual checks to comply with car warranty $452.83 (Not bad i thought) Hope that helps
  10. Wow not cheap. Best deal i've got so far is $929. Hopefully be able to get one through work.
  11. Hey, Does anyone know a good place in Auckland to get tow bars fitted. Any deals for bimmersport?.
  12. It may be only a couple of thousand wound back past the last wof. Remember their is 6 months between each wof. So he's wound it back more than a couple of thousand *Edit - Just had a look at the kms i've done on car jam. my last two wof's i averaged 8000km's every 6 month's. So i'd have to wind mine back over 8000 to get a decrease at the next WOF.
