I think I'll go with the Anycar Link because it seems to be the cheaper option and easier to install, there's a compartment under the stereo with a popup door that the iPhone and cable would site in nicely. Just have to find out where to get one (probably the AL-1080D) in NZ (does anyone have suggestions?) and get some help installing it.

Thanks for the info What was the model number of the Grom unit?

Thanks

I don't know about 3.5mm option but this model has no steering wheel controls. I'd certainly prefer a 3.5mm option if there was one. btw i got the MD going, but the number of tracks you can get on a disc in SP is roughly the same as a CD so there's no real benefit... still looking for the best iPhone solution

Thanks, I'll keep playing with the settings

Thanks Yongxi - so the unit goes in the boot? How does it connect to the phone?

Hi Guys I recently bought a 2001 330i with a factory Business MD unit and boot CD stacker. Head Unit : The stacker had no cartridge and after picking one up from HellBM it worked sporadically (frequently unable to read CDs) and now one of the CDs is jan ed and the cartridge. A friend gave me a MiniDisc recorder but I havent been able to find the right format (hi-MD, NetMD etc) for a disc (using SonicStacker) that will work on the head unit. I want to be able to play tracks from my iPhone 4s through the stereo without spending a huge amount of money (i.e. <$500). I thought about one of the car lighter charger-FM transmitter-cradle deals fro JB HiFi but they're $150 and I hear the FM transmitters are terrible. What sort of options do I have for replacing the CD Stacker (maybe with an mp3 CD stacker?) or integrating the iPhone into the sound system (without sacrificing the radio)? Cheers and thanks in advance Lucas

Yeah, it's a mechanical warranty that for a few hundred bucks a year covers quite a lot and has saved us thousands!
-
Well luckily it was covered by insurance

Well we finally found out what it was - a dodgey alternator! The fluctuating power kept causing the computer to crash and making the idle irregular. All good now!

Hi It happens completely at random, and it started happening before we took the car in for a service, but it's happening more and more frequently now. It usually starts with the Dynamic Drive failure, and then other failures happen shortly afterwards cheers

Hi Guys Our '03 545i is having a recurring computer problem and I wonder if anyone has seen it before. It starts at random times when driving. The computer comes up with a Dynamic Drive error, and then usually a number of other errors including Transmission failure, Control Systems failure (the speedo stops working), Tyre Pressure Monitor failure etc. Sometimes the Transmission failure is accompanied by a thud under the car, and it feels like it's in 1st gear when we drive it. Turning the car off for a minute or so usually clears the problem. It happens at random so we wonder if it's a computer fault? We recently had the car serviced at BMW in Silverfield and told them about it but they couldnt find a problem, so we've taken pics of the error screens and hopefully it'll happen when we take the car in. But we'd like to give them as much info as possible so if anyone has heard of this before we'd love to hear about it! Cheers

Oh dear, my friend just photoshopped a lowered version of the car...

Hi again... Is it actually an E60? I thought E60s were 2004+, and this is a 2003 model...? How would I find out?
