  1. was gunna say lol, FWD, no problem, just drive it out!

Funnily enough, I had to do exactly that after my sister-in-law did the same thing in a driving lesson a few years back... Only she was further over & damn lucky she was still on the good side of the pivot point! Couple of scrapes underneath, but no damage. I was worried about brake & fuel lines but nope, no problems even 5 years on.

  2. It should all be banned as a crime against good taste if you ask me....

But seriously, if you bring some back, declare it & they tell you to bin it - whats the financial risk? $10? Be much more if you dont declare & get caught, but I cant see anyone at the border giving a flying f**k if it's still sealed.

  3. That can be calculated, and then correct resistor installed. Will draw same current as original bulbs.

Sure, but as I said it isnt that simple for systems that look for the correct rise time in current draw for a filament (no idea if the E90 is like that but they are out there - I think Volvo was one). This is quite different to a dumb resistor - we spent a lot of time trying to fool these systems when I was at Hella & ended up with plugin electronics or a bunch of electronics inside the lamp. In extreme examples, the dumb resistor wouldn't fool the system which would then assume no trailer was attached to the truck, and not release the trailer brakes....

  4. Be warned that doesn't always work - the more sophisticated systems look for the correct current draw (over time) of a filament which is difficult to simulate with a resistor. You may also see the LEDs pulsing (even with the lights off) depending on the electronics & the LEDs.

  5. Walk away from the CVT auto in the R50 - it truly destroys the car to drive & your wallet when the orange light comes on. I heard somewhere (not sure) that the newer models used the same Aisin 6 spd auto as the non-DSG mk5 Golfs (09G gearbox) which are 100x better than the CVT but still not stellar reliability wise.

Like someone else said - buy a manual.

  6. Ironically enough, I was on a 100% hydrogen powered bus last weekend (in London). That seems like the perfect application for the fuel cell - quiet, emission free, and has a set route for predictable fill up points. I do wonder how big the tank was & how far they can go on it but it does indeed appear that they are finally at the point of not just being a pipe dream.
