  1. E90 is sedan, E91 wagon, E92 coupe, E93 cabrio

    My Dad has an e90 330i. My thoughts;

    • Pretty sure the LCI has the updated iDrive with BT audio. Older one only has AUX audio and BT phone
    • Hate to admit, but the walnut interior has grown on me. IRL it's not as bad as in pics. I would still consider a wrap though
    • Factor in the iDrive navigation update if a jappa
    • His isn't a MS, but has some good MS options - MS suspension, MS wheel, nice alloys, MS Seats. Seats are excellent. I would go non MS with those options - but MS is obvioulsy better (except that grey rear diffuser bit??!?)
    • The colour and wheels make or break E9x IMO
The 335i does have potential probs though... turbo/wastegate problem$ and HPFP. I know of 2 people who have had the waste-gate/turbo issues and it's not cheap, like $4k+

I would buy one though (preferable with a warranty).

I personally hate the msport front bumper on E9x cars - looks like a slackjawed redneck mouthbreather if you ask me. Mine also has the msport steering wheel & seats (not sure about the suspension - but it's what I would call firm & approaching rollerskate).

I do enjoy driving the diesel, but hate the 4cyl vibration - the 330d would be a much smoother car.

    noooo way

your face is pressed up against the windscreen and you sit on top of the passenger in an e90

well not really but its definitely less spacious than an e34

Really? My E90 has plenty of room - I'm 6'2". More than my E46 too - although I dont think the build quality is as good as th E46.

  2. Yes.

Not sure about that particular car, but sometimes the carmaker doesnt want the supplier logo to be visible without opening the bonnet (legally the manufacturer & type approval markings must be easily visible on the lamp - but BMW dont like it in your face). Aftermarket parts are different though & the manufacturer is able to mark them with a logo. If the Hella logo is visible from outside, you may have aftermarket lamps. In any case, Hella are the only lighting parts I would voluntarily buy or recommend (but I'm a little biased....).

  3. Agree with Allan on the e39 low beam they are not good just a caution on the xenon get the correct rated ones. Wouldn't they need to have some sort of DOT or S.A.E number on them to be legit or is that on the housing?

With these modern lamps, the optical properties are controlled by the reflectors not the "lens" (which is more of a transparent cover than anything else). From memory, the type approval is marked on the back of the lamp assembly.

  4. The coating you are so carefully removing is the UV protection for the polycarbonate. Removing this will only make them yellow faster in the harsh NZ sunlight. If you have polished the bejesus out of them & still have yellow, it is possible that its on the inside of the lens from using cheap bulbs that have a high UV content. This is particularly apparent if a halogen lens is on a xenon lamp assembly or HID retrofit bulbs have been used.

If you do polish the yellow off & remove the diamond coat, you should respray with another UV coat to stop the yellowing returning.

  5. Lost of experience with LPG- I run the barbeque and the cook top on it.

Gas bbqing is so 2006.... Charcoal's where its at :)

Towing duties will be varied. Lifestyle block type stuff, or car trailer. Something smaller won't worry about those, but Miss and Mrs M seem to have their sights set on a horse.

Of course, owning a horse doesn't mean a float is needed, just simpler. Frankly that sounds like an expense we just don't need at the moment. (Or ever!)

I've held off looking closely at Holdens and Fords. Perhaps it is now time.

Isn't the point of having a horse to get from A to B?... Or is it supply for your new adhesive plant?

  6. Manufacturer (such as Ford, etc) fitted kits carry a bit of a question mark. Typically they aren't as good as the aftermarket professionally-fitted setups, but the price difference may negate that.

Huh? I would expect the exact opposite - particularly the later liquid injection systems that Ford used.

  7. Reversing longer than necessary?!

Thats to stop your average bogan doing burnouts in his HQ ute, blowing the diff & having to drive home in reverse.... Ironically, i know someone that did just that. Didnt seem like a great idea to be reversing through light controlled intersections even back then.

  8. The one i put on my E46 coupe was for a facelift m/sport 4 door - but I'm pretty sure it said it suited a touring as well? Fitted on the coupe no problems. It was a NZ factory one made by Best Bars.

I've seen a couple on Trademe recently for the E46 - I'm on the scrounge for one to fit the E90 but they seem to be rarer than hens teeth second hand.

  9. Drained of fluids? Maybe if you are airfreighting it.... Most people use roll on roll off car freighters - have a search of the site, this question has been raised a couple of times recently.

In your situation, you may not need to pay GST and the frontal crash & emissions regulations might not be applicable - but i'm not sure.
