Gidday Conrod. Yes could have gone higher compression pistons but whats the point? 8.8:1 will give a 9.4:1CR because of the extra 49.8cc of fuel/air mix to compress. Thats fine and wont stress the head or gear. The engine is basically a torque engine for a fast road car which I want for mid range punch with a very smooth power delivery but is still ultra drivable at the low end and therefore still has reasonable economy. Re the Cam selection . I researched this very carefully.-Std M20 cam is 258or 260 deg I think .The 272 cam is a balance between top end power and mid range torque and day to day driveability. Torque is what makes you go fast . For a road car you want mid range passing power not top end speed. Wilder 285 or 304 cams are just tiring to put up with for road use and are better suited to the track. My engine builder estimates engine will put out 220+ HP wont have torque figures until we fine tune on the dyno Brendan

Hi Could be right on the sale but they are cheaper than here even with the freight cost and I need some new ones anyway. Nope no turbos or boy racer gear- replaced the old pump last year when it conked out

Am building a M20 to 2.7ltre using eta crank 2ltre rods etc . Have purcahsed hi capacity injectors from Irelands as their advice is that the std ones ae only giood for 180hp. Question is do I need a higher capacity fuel pump too? Brendan

I have googled etc but have come up blank so far.\ Happy to go with anybody if we can save buck Brendan

BrettI got set of S/S RHD headers for my 325i M20 from Longlife exhausts UK (Cardiff Exhausts) ph 02920473131 www [email protected] 489 pound + $900 to ship by air freight - they were three into 2 shortys so had to fabricate the collector here and coat them. Shipped them with Panalpina Ph 275 6175. Not cheap but good. Nobody did them here at that time and had a couple of quotes which were more expensive than getting them from the UK . You could ship them by sea if you want to save some$ Longlife came recommended by E30 zoners PS thanks for the contact on the rods for the 2.7 Brendan -
Hi Jeddy Thanks for the contacts both sites look good also looked at www.PelicanParts.com but they only do stock- have a look -big range Silly
-
Thanks very much to all who replied about the cam source. I take it then that wisdom says there isnt any good NZ cams available? FYI I also have found a 274 deg piper fast road cam for 311 pound plus plus at www.europerformance.co.uk. plus lotsa other stuff but they only deliver local. Sounds like Ireland or Shrick are the go silly

Need recommendations for a scource for a 272 deg cam for the 2.7 engine I'm building. So far have Franklin cams to talk to. Can you purchase an aftermarket 272 deg cam or do i have to get one made from a billet? Thanks
