  1. Sold! There is a very good replica of one of the Richards / Skaife cars in Christchurch but no genuine ones as far as I'm aware, unless you know otherwise? Of the four remaining, the 91 Bathurst winner lives in Thailand, 92 Bathurst winner owned by Terry Ashwood in Oz, Winfield car owned by Lindsay Fox (Linfox) and this one (ex Bob Forbes) now sold.
  2. on ebay, for all you Group A fans. http://cars.ebay.com.au/NISSAN-SKYLINE-R32...emQQitemZ678791 Rare that one of these comes up. anyone?
  3. And fast too! Here's my favourite - a great shot from the same meeting found on Flickr.

You could call in & see Pete at Eurorec - they may be able to help?
  5. Yes I'm looking at an upgrade for a track car. The reason for considering upgrading the rears is that by upgrading just the fronts then I've been told that this will affect the bias. So by bolting bigger rotors and calipers on the rear should help rebalance this. I'm no mechanic, hence asking for other opinons also. Brent - thanks for that. Slavvy - will keep you in mind if they become available. Cheers
  6. I'm planning on upgrading the front brakes on my 84 M635 to an AP Racing 6 pot kit. Just not sure what to do about the rears. Someone suggested swap the existing factory 4 pot brakes & 300mm rotors off the front and fit these to the rear. Anyone have any knowledge or experience as to how easy this would be? i.e. direct bolt on or lots of engineering required? Cheers
  7. It's for sale here, for a mere A$272k. Go one, someone buy it, it would be great to see it back in NZ! http://www.my105.com/classified.asp?id=11421
  8. http://www.flickr.com/photos/warwickrobinson/381397869/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/warwickrobinson/377250595/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/warwickrobinson/379887054/ It never ceases to amaze me the number of classic & historic race cars that are regularly dragged out to race meetings at Ruapuna. We were at just a club day before Christmas, i.e. not a promoted meeting, hardly any spectators & just look at some of the machinery that was brought out for a play - including two Formula Two cars and a McLaren F1 car. http://www.flickr.com/photos/warwickrobins...57622871801477/
  9. The car is owned by Debbie & Dennis Chapman of Christchurch. Dennis was driving that day. They do have a couple of sons Dale & Allan who also race.
  10. You mean the Houselevellers / Warsteiner one? It belongs to Russell Grace in Chch, don't believe he's a member on here.
  11. I have just taken delivery of some wheels & tyres from Mag & Tyre Direct, arranged by Johno. This is the second time I have purchased through them and they are a pleasure to deal with. Would highly recommend them to any other Bimmersport members.
  12. Sounds like its the rockinghorse version, rare as they are. Any leads would be useful, thanks.
  13. Actually not 100% sure of the engine model number but can find out, its to match up to a 1985 325i engine for a Group A 3 series replica being built. I understand the gearbox in question has first gear in bottom left position, with 2nd and 3rd being inline (i.e. in the same gate), if that makes any sense? Sounds like it could be a bit different to what is fitted to most of the road cars? I'm not a mechanic but if you (or anyone) think they can help let me know the best way to contact you and I'll pass on your details for someone to give you a call. Cheers
  14. Am looking for a fellow competitor for a project- anyone? Thanks
  15. Some nice photos there. I'm on the SI Race committee and am not aware of that. There are a few of us who are keen to make a trip up, though most probably for a Manfeild meeting at some stage (if you'll have us!) but happy to do this under our own steam i.e. no expectation for contributions towards costs. In other words, on the same basis as the North Islanders who attend S.I. meetings. Our of interest, who or what is HRC? Maybe you could PM me some details of who they've been talking to and I'll follow up this end. Cheers
  16. I got one custom made for my car by Briford in Christchurch, tip deck, winch, single axle, braked trailer new for only around $3,300 from memory.
  17. Yep its the big Skope Classic this weekend, one of the biggest classic meetings in the country. Quite a few BMW's entered. Kevin Jones - E30 320i Mark Scott - E30 320i Steve Lancaster - E30 318i Steve Rae - E30 325i Kevin Donaldson - E30 325i Russell Grace - E30 M3 Jim Wallace - E30 M3 Peter Thorby - E30 323 Group A Dougal McGibbon - E24 635 Group A Jim Boult - E24 635 Group A Graeme Clyde - E36 NZ 2L Touring Car Allan Clyde - E36 NZ 2L Touring Car Dale Chapman - E36 Supertourer Jonathan Phillips - E21 323 Schnitzer Turbo (replica) Hope I've got them all. cheers
  18. No - just the car :-) Glad you enjoyed the trip around. Cheers
  19. Helmet and overalls are a must, though normal workshop-type 100% cotton overalls are suitable rather than necessarily needing proper race overalls on test days. I am pretty certain that a fixed fire extinguisher is needed but I'm sure the car club would be happy to confirm (349 6003). You get can get them reasonably cheaply from Mitre 10 which has the double metal clip variant for about $40 last time I was in there. As there are no track marshalls / fire services based on site during test days a fire extinguisher probably is a good idea just in case. Hopefully there will also be an opportunity for you to go for a ride in one of the race cars if you're keen. Cheers
  20. Discount applies to just Canterbury Car Club members unfortunately. It seems to be the norm around the country that members from one car club don't get discounts at another i.e. we pay full rates when testing at Timaru. Unsure how many will be there but the first BMW Series race meeting for the season is 4 & 5 October along with Pre-65's, Super Sixes, Pro 7, OSCA etc so plenty of racing for spectators.
  21. Friday is a normal test day (like most Tuesday's & Fridays) and they are run as half day sessions, 9am - 1pm and 1pm to 5pm. Cost is $100 per half day with a 50% discount for Canterbury Car Club members (is well worth joining up if you're a not). We'll be out for the afternoon session, probably arriving 12:30-12:45 ish. Unsure if we will have all of the afternoon as the bikes sometimes turn up also and if so we get 20-30 minute turns about. Drivers (& passengers) need to have race or cotton overalls, helmet and if I recall correctly a fixed fire extinguisher also.
  22. Well done on your time! As a comparison the E30s are generally getting around in 1:48 - 1:50's. I can get around in my M6 in about 1:44 on a good day and some of the other open class cars (E30 M3's, M323 etc) are making it in the low 1:40's. Just in case you haven't seen the post in the race series forum, a few of us are heading out this coming Friday afternoon (5th) for a play. Cheers
  23. Hi there, Sent you an email a week or so ago but it must have got lost somewhere. I don't know of an E30 series 318 car personally but am happy to ask around amongst the other E30 series race committee members and others to try & help you. Would you like to PM me your name & contact numbers & we'll do all we can to help. Cheers
