Given the lack of a motor, it doesnt vteck very hard at all. But if it was all vteck'd up then I imagine it would vteck hard enough for the lot of yis! (thats not me by the way) I'd be more vanos-hard, if an m52b20 could be classed as something that was able to vanos hard, which it's not. Cheers for your interest though!

Any one want to buy my boat? $200 without trailer (Can be delivered around auckland) $400 with Its a 4 meter ply skinned boat. Very easy to do repair work, customise, sand paint etc. Its got a couple of soft spots. Apparently, the guy I brought it from took it out on the water about two weeks ago. I gotta say, I wouldnt before cleaning it up a bit, but what ever.... Its got remotes for an OMC outboard (Johnson/Evinrude) (gear shift one is rusted through, throttle working) rope type steering (MOMO steering wheel!)

See if you're new thermostat has the little bleed hole thing at the top of it. I brought a cheapy one recent for my old e30, and it didnt have the little bleed hole in it. Made it a massive pain to bleed, I gave up and drilled a 2mm hole in the top of the thermostate plate. Then used the bong method to bleed it, took about a minute and hasnt given any problems since (well, until I sold it at least!)

You can get desulfated batteries from The Battery Clinic in Otahuhu cheap as, like, $40 or something, he warranties them too. I've put them them in my last three cars, never had problems since. Its a good way of replacing them if you're a cheapskate like me! matt

rats! I was thinking the other day that this style would do the trick on my e28 (I've got a set of hub rings) and they'd look a bit better than the 14" baskets on there at the mo. Let me know if you have any more you want to get rid of! -
Fantastic- That was pretty much what I was hoping for. As soon as my landlord puts a door on the garage I'll start engine hunting. Cheers!
-
I should also add. Is it actually that simple? it seems on the net that you can just mix and match heads etc and it'll all just work.
-
Yeah, I figured you'd probably have those bits I was just going to buy a b25 engine and swap the head, intake, afm, injectors and ecu. Idea there was basically that to get the shagged cam fixed I'd have to pull the head off anyway. So I might as well swap it for a better flowing/double sprung one. Its not going to be a super engine by any means, but it should be similar power to a b25 and have a bit more torque. I'd be happy with that for now. Maybe when I've got a better job I'll throw a bit more money at an engine build- I've always wanted to have a go on something bigger than a fiat uno engine!
-
Well it certianly does have a power sunroof (works!) A/C (doesn't) and electric windows (3 work) I guess I do need a new head then! Well anyway, the aim is to get a m20b20/23/25 in trade for beers, so I'll see how it goes CHeers, Matt

So I've got a 525ee, it was mega cheap, goes fine except that it needs a new radiator and head. I'm about to start on the world’s most low budget stroker build- but that’s not what I'm talking about at the moment e, so we know e = eta = Greek for efficiency has a 2.7l engine, with the 200 casting head single valve springs and flows like crap. In the states there is apparently a super e which had double valve springs, potentially a different head and the word super on the back (did it?) and I'm assuming had leather, or a cd player or something. So what is the ee? At first I guessed that it was a localized model, but I'm now not sure- mine has 4 wheel disk brakes, I thought the basic one had rear drums? Is it actually a super? or is it a Australasian version or something. e ee super e Anyone know the difference? (I’ve had a good old Google and I can't find much at all, least not identifying about the ee) Cheers!

So the existing switch on the left side of the steering wheel, only has one setting doesnt it? And that'd be for the rear fog lights. So if you replace the switch, the wiring still needs to be put into place? or do you just need to install a relay in the relay box? It may end up being easier to just re-route the rear-fog light power to the front spots- given that no one ever uses them (someone yelled at me on the motorway the other day for having mine on!) I expect the relays for them are right next to each other, so it'd probably only take a couple of jumper wires to sort that out.

So I got a golf, Its a MK3, 2.0, auto in the handy wagon format. Towed it home as it didnt go (purchased not running) You'd turn it over, and everything on the dash turned on, but no love. I got it home, found that I was getting no spark and no fuel. fuel was under pressure- just no injector pulses. Pretty easy, figured it was a crank sensor. seems to be the only thing appart from a faulty ECU that would cause both no spark and no fuel. I went and turned it over the other day and it fired straight up- no probs? ran smooth, and I drove it around the block no worries. I figued it was the crank sensor still, and unplugged it while the car was running, and it kept going! Should that happen? THe crank sensor on it appears to be in the dizzy and theres a plug on the side of it (I got this from VW Vortex) if you unplug it, it keeps going?! Or am I unplugging something different? Any help with this would be much appreciated. Cheers guys!

I need to get hold of one of these, its the plastic thing with the hex bolt top. Anyone have one floating around? central auckland/suburbs, I cant be arsed drive to silverdale or papakura to get one from brent or ray. Failing that, does anyone know the thread size so I can just buy a bolt for it? Cheers! Matt
-
You dont still have the b20 engine that you pulled from it floating around do you? I'd be interested in that. Cheers

INcase anyone was wondering- car has been found. http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=34379 welcome Andy!

Is it safe enough of an idea to slack off the hub end clamp thing and then just lower the car on to it & do it up? Or is it likely that theres something else holding it up? Thanks!
-
I've stuck in the new thermostat- seems to have sorted the problem. Seems to be holding almost exactly at half way on the guage. I'll keep an eye on it over the next week or so. Hopefully thats all it is! Next thing is to fix that boogie shock!
-
Cool, Thermostat is on its way to me as we speak. The fan ate my newspaper, so I recon hes ok. Lets hope hes a just the thermostat for a simple fix! Thanks team!

So my car over heated this morning, got up to temp, then just kept going! The radiator hose at the top was super hot. and the bottom one wasnt even warm. I'd going with this being a thermostat right? Is there anything else I should be looking at do you think? Cheers, Matt

Oh my god! those are the best pants!!

I havent had time to pull the cam cover off and check again yet, but my hightech socket extension stethescope told me that it is #1 cylinder and seems to be the very front of that where its loudest. So I recon Brent is on the money. $80 +gst to have the offending lobe welded up and re-ground. After reading the removal instructions for the cam I recon I can do it easy enough (obviously change the cambelt at the same time) but what I cant tell, is if I can remove the cam while the engine is in the car? If not then I think I'll just get a b25i engine and just swap all the goodies over- get a bit more juice out of him! on another note, does anyone have a spare m20 camshaft for less than $80? Cheers, Matt
