  1. Currently am using 3 browsers and still haven't decided which is best

I'm currently torn between Opera and Firefox as I like tabbed browsing and the built in functions. I've used Firefox for the last 3 years but have recently used Opera as it's faster, less buggy, more feature rich, and has built in BitTorrent which is quite useful.

Interesting to note that the forum software here has Mozilla specific tags...nice

Have to use IE for some sites that are so ignorant that they're only developed for IE.

Please give me your onions on this.

I use Firefox and have an add-in called IE Tab, which embeds IE into Firefox for certain websites that I choose, such as Microsoft Updates and any other shitty site that needs to use IE to render crap.

IE Tab - Right here baby

  2. I wouldn't say I'm on my high horse here though Grant... I'm MILDY offended, I wouldn't even say offended is the right word, but more from the perspective that I don't want it turned into a commodity, just like how the stupid Commonwealth Games teams were thrashing it.. They were performing it ok, but were just thrashing the cr@p out of it. I know I was sick of it!

Personally I agree that the place is getting too PC, but in saying that, I have a right to ask for respect for my culture as performing the haka gives me great pride. I love seeing tikanga maori around the world, but what I don't like is half assed efforts. Its all about representation. If it is a decent one, then all good, great advertising for our country.

If they threw in some Italian guys doing the haka and doing it properly, I personally would have been happy to see the haka in an ad. Just a little thought before airing it.

I agree in principal with what you guys are saying, but deep inside me I still have pride towards my culture. I'm also not a very sensitive person to most things as well.

  3. I'm mildly offended by it. Performing the haka brings great pride and really gets the heart going. I love it, and we only pull it out for special occasions such as funerals, birthdays, weddings etc etc as a mark of respect. To see someone mock it like that pisses me off a little, as no thought has gone into the cultural/protocol apsect of it

If we let everyone rip it off, it becomes a commodity and will cease to have any respect.

PS. Haka is a NZ thing. Wardances however are a worldwide thing.

Just my personal thoughts. But as they say, if you are going to do it, then do it properly first time.

  5. Incorrect. I have a Getrag 240. We checked the EPC/ETK and everything. My engine is 6 cylinder. I've read elsewhere that the 240 is for 4 cylinders so was equally confused! They must just change the bellhousing or something between the 4 and 6.

Just had my gearbox reconditioned and he had to order parts, which were for the 240 only.

  6. Thanks Jochen,

I will give it a blast this weekend (it is freezing and wet outside!).

Should I be able to measure some form of action if it isn't plugged in? ie. The check control is unplugged, and where I split the brown and green/violet wires I tested. Or does it need to be plugged in to test for a charge?

  7. Yup, unplugged, then replugged it back in. There seemed to be no juice at the wires anyway. My mate and I went over it a few times, but couldn't work out what was wrong. I'm not an autoelectrician by any stretch of the imagination, but I know my colours, and what to do and what not to do.

    Weird science.

  8. Hi people

I recently purchased a second hand rear view mirror with maplights for my E-30.

With some instructions i pulled off the net Click Here , and tips from El-Gusto, I used the wiring loom from the check control. I split the brown wire (earth) and connected the earth from the maplight to it (soldiered). I then split the violet/green cable and soldiered to my positive for my maplights so that the circuit is switched/accessories.

Once connected back together, the check control and maplights didn't work when key was switched on.

I then used my multimeter to check for juice. Nothing. Decided to put it back together how i found it, connecting the check control wires back to each other, and the check control still didn't work. Checked the fuse and that was fine. Radio is connected to the same fuse and that was fine (checked all fuses). Even pulled the fuse out to test, and radio cut when pulled out.

Again I tested the cables with my multimeter, and still no juice.

Anyone have any ideas on what to try next? or where the wiring loom's next point is before the check control?

Kinda weird as everything was put back to how it was.

Thanks in advance guys and girls.
