  1. Up for sale is my 320i Touring

NZ new 1989. Alpine white. Automatic. New wof and one months rego.

Make no mistake this car has had a hard life. The speedo shows 333,000. If you are looking for “ mint “, tidy, type of descriptions, this is not the one for you. Its for sale.

It needs a bit of work. I have renewed the headlining and replaced the sunroof which was quite a job but there is still more to be done.

Work in the last 6 months :
    inner steering joints
    engine mounts x 2
    gearbox mounts
    right rear wheel bearing
    rubber intake boot
    headlining

Replaced parts : diff, sunroof mechanism,

The body is basically straight but does have the odd scrape and small dent. There has been some bog applied in the past, left rear corner. It drives okay and may have the original engine.
The interior is rough. Mega cracked dash, shot front seats, rooted carpet. However I have some decent carpet and front seats that come with it.
All yours for £3900. The only swap I will do is for cash, $3900 worth.

    Location South Auckland. PM me.

  2. 260 gearbox for sale. Out of a 520i, an early E34 I believe.

I have never used it so I can't comment on its quietness etc.

Casting number 260 0 1346 91, it cannot take a crank sensor. Ratios are the same as a 325, we compared them on the bench with a 325 box. The only difference is the guibo mount is about 2cm longer. To fit into an E30 this would have to be changed over.

    Location south Auckland, $400

  4. The effectiveness of any data logging is all down to how good the software is ( or not ). Most punters get taken in by the shiny hardware because they can understand that and touch it, feel it.

Start off simple and build up. For example the single most useful channel is speed, you can learn a lot from overlaying just speed from different laps. Once you have that sorted add throttle, then maybe G, see if all corners have about the same peak G, see that left and right are the same peak, if not look around, why aren't they the same ? turning in too aggressively ? Later to improve lap times add brake pressure.

But it is all down to the software.

Cameras can be useful if you are still trying to find the correct line. However good data loggers with gps have this covered because they can be quite accurate for a single day.

  5. I have a pair of Sparco ProADV seats. One has been used at Hampton for about 3 hours, the other never fitted. $900 each.

    Also spare outer fabric new.

Set of TRS 3 inch belts, 5 point. FIA dated 2010. These have been used for 2 days in a corporate track day event. $250

Some where I also have a Sparco race steering wheel and a couple of E30 bosses to fit

Stilo helmet, complies with new Snell standard, full face, alpines stars gloves, small

    PM me

  6. I have a M3 that needs some TLC. 1989 215hp no cat model. An international traveller it has been used in Germany, UK and then abused in Portugal where it had use as a track day car. Imported into NZ in 2010 but it has never had the work done to register it here. Alpine white.

It is missing some interior parts such as the fog lights, A pillar covers, radio and headlining.

    Some history, only UK stuff.

It is not mint, it needs work, but at least it is in the country and it is a real one.

PM me if it is of interest,

  7. The current touring project is looking for :

manual clutch / brake pedal and mounting

14 inch wheels that are not bent, bottletops are fine

seats that need recovering, that is, no problem if the fabric is worn, but the mechanicals and back / sides have to be in good order.

Touring rear parts, carpets, washer bottle, any thing from the C pillar back

    preferably close to Auckland

A whole / nearly complete car could be considered.

    cheers
