  1. Wow. The wholesale price (trade in) on this car was over $9k before i got the gearbox replaced, so would hope someone is going to tell me its worth more than that!
  2. Hey all, I have a July 2002 (new shape) NZ New BMW 330i which I am thinking about selling. I have seen cars bought and sold at hugely differnt prices so any assitance would be appreicated. OK, the good parts....It has all the usual NZ new 330i spec (leather, alarm, reverse senors, etc), multi-function wheel and because its NZ new it also has a full service history. I have spent $7,500 on the car in the last 9 months. Including having the gearbox rebuilt by BM Workshop (still with a with a 19,850km, 12 month warranty). The car runs sooo smooth and is a pleasure to use. On the neg...The car has had some use, with 195km on the clock. The interior is not the best and the outside is ok, but with some scratches and the front and back bumpers each having had abuse. What do you think and would pics really make a diff? If so can post. Cheers!!!
  3. Ha, it aint done till its done, right. I am just beginning to understand that with this car!
  4. Hi Ray, cool. That would be easier than the other option! Do you have any available and if so at what price? Thanks again!
  5. unfortuantly the remote is not working anymore either (this painting another picture). I am more concerned that this is a dealer only thing due to having to sync the system. I am though of course pleasd that others can smile at my pain. I always work on the basis that if someone is laughing at me, they arent laughing at someone else!
  6. OK, in the space of two opening of the doors, the key went from opening the door, um, to not. The key goes into the door lock but when turning the lock, nothing. The key does work the boot and the ignition. Will this mean having to replace both the lock and the keys?? What would the fastest way to resolve this likely to be. Is this gonna cost or what!?!! Right now its a case of having to crawl through the boot and that aint good. Your comments apprecaited. Dave
  7. Thanks for the welcome all, Promise i will post some pics of the car shortly. She's a little like me, looks better from a distance than up close, a little rough round the edges, but always up for it and rearing to go!
  8. Just a quick hi to all. I have only been on here a week and have already been able to sort out 2 issues on my car. This is a cool site with cool people on it who are genuinely keen to see BMW owners enjoy their car. I have a 2002 E46 M54 330i which is pretty high mileage. Saying that the engine and gearbox run sweet (has had synthetic oil since new) and is so much fun to drive! I wanted again to thank Hybrid for his great advice and for HELLBM for quickly finding me the part I needed and then dropping them off for me near by (HELLBM has loads of BMW parts)!! Couldnt ask for me. Also wanted to thank Glenn at Botnaymotorworx for his advice; which was freely given even when it didnt look like it would turn out to be a sale. Awesome! Anyway, its been a great start for me on this site and I hope to maybe catch up with people at a meet. Take care, Dave
  9. When you said it was totalled I still didnt think it was this bad. One very, very lucky guy!
  10. Hi all Thanks to Hybrid for the info and to Hell for the parts, my multifunction controls now work!! Am stoked and really appreciate the help provided here. Cheers guys!!! Dave
  11. Hey, The answer is i dont know. For me it was easy as my car already had the controls, so it was the control units that were not working. For a conversion such as yours I suggest that you either ask Hybrid directly if he can help, or put up a new topic and explain your situation. People on here are incredibly helpful and as you can see from previous threads, often have the answers. All the best Dave
  12. Hi, thanks for the info!! I have been using this to guide me as I pull the steering wheel apart, so has been of immense help. Has been easy because of the clear instructions together with the pics. Many thanks! Dave
  13. Hi there Am looking for the multi function controls for my 2002 E46 330i. Am thinking its the standard one but please advise if this is not enough info. Am just after the the control units as I have all the necessary parts for the wheel, including the air bag. Thanks Dave
  14. Hey, thanks for the advice (sorry!)...the car is a 2002 NZ new 330i sedan
  15. Hey, Am a newbie to the site. Can anyone advise how hard it is to remove the multifuntion section of the steering wheel to (i) check to see if the connection has come off and (ii) to replace the buttons if faulty (Also any idea where i can get second hand units or do you have to get new ones?). I do know that when the car was hooked up to the computer there was no connection/reply from the controls. Any help would be appreicated. Cheers
  16. Hey there. Just wanted to say that I just purchased a new spec 2002 NZ 330i for just $9750 ($9400 if you include the work the guy did before i took it), and that was from a dealer. It has 186k on the clock but FSH and full leather, etc. It is not the best kept car but got it checked out and there is hardly any engine wear and gearbox flies through the gears without you knowing it was changing. I do though suggest you watch the heating systems. The engine pushes the heating systems to the limits and they are the weakest link. I would suggest waiting for a good deal to come out. For just $20k (not the $30 or $40k mentioned) you can easily get a 2003 car, especially now with the market so quiet. Took me about 6 months but they are there. All up I spent just $2.5k to do what was required. I would suggest taking the car to BM Workshop as my experience with some of the dealers has not been the best (and my 330 has a FSH from a dealer and they did a crap job looking after it). I found that BM Workshop really did the job.
