  1. To be honest I can't remember - think it was the 1 I pushed first. Is that important ? The clock shows up on the radio I am assuming ... can't quite see what you are referring to ???
  2. Hi All A staff member's partner has just bought a nice e36 325 and asked me to look at how to set the clock. Checked out a few sites and the theory was to push the clock button on the OBC and then use the 1 10 100 1000 buttons to change the numbers. We did that but nothing happened except for the screen shown below saying "imput time". Have I missed a step or is there a combination of keys to be pressed ? Cheers Ron
  3. Probably not of use to many out but for those that run a business, there is a plan with Vodafone called Talkzero. You won't see it on the web site as they don't push it to general public. Basically for $35 per phone on contract, you set up a group then all calls within that group are free to each other - like Best Buddy but it is not limited to just one number. What we have done is set this up but added a CTU module to the "group" which dials out over a Voip phone system. Bottom line is we can call each other free plus we can make free calls to landlines by using the CTU.
  4. No. Freight = $6500, GST = $2500 My spreadsheet says landed here and on road + $29,881

    Help my girlfriends mum!

Bidded on wine & food. Interesting that TMe are allowing the wine auction to proceed. Great to see a Bimmersporter driving this initiative
  6. I would get a quote from your preferred panel beater, tell the guy the $ then give him the choice of paying you up front for the repair. If he declines, then pass it onto your insurance company to handle and then it is his issue. Maybe this guy is genuine and doesn't want to involve insurance companies (which is possible). At least this way you may both be happy.
  7. I agree with Olloe ... Sorry we don't know all the facts but the bottom line is that the guy stole $18m. If the bank is insured, everyone else will have to pay for this crime through higher insurance premiums because insurance companies will have to come up with the money from somewhere to pay the claim. The guy is a bank robber whether he broke into the vault or did it electronically. He is a criminal. His actions have caused pain for family members but surely they must have noticed that the $15m he siphoned off (apart from the hookers) being spent on toys and property. Didn't they question "dad where does this money come from???"
  8. Haven't used this company myself but a lot of NZ people on "geekzone" use this service to get cell phones into NZ ... http://www.shipito.com/
  9. The issue with a recession is that it takes time for things to roll out. The common practice is when things are going well, the private sector provides the "work" for mainstream workers. When the private sector goes thru a recession, it is usually the government who instigates larger spending and in turn creates work. The problem is that once the government opens the tap to allow more roading to be done, it starts a process of planning, tendering and finally contracts happen and we the public see the results, sometimes 18 months after the taps are opened. Another point is that most roading funding happens in a given year and as we get close to 31 March, most councils have to spend their budget for the year or they may loose it the following year. There will always be heavier spending on roading in Feb / March of every year. With regards to sectors being paid "Shite", the same can be said about many other jobs that ordinary Kiwis are paid. As a business owner, I am more pissed that we have to pay young people the same rates of pay as older, more experienced workers and yet we get a poorer work ethic out of 18 year olds than 35 year olds. There will be exceptions to this but this is a reality. I have worked in countries where there is no government welfare and money is non existant yet they survive. Why does everything in society come back to money ??? Get over it and start living !!!
  10. Good point Jochen. My initial issue is locking the keys in the car or worst case the boot. Without fold down rear seats, the boot is very difficult to enter. It wouldn't be that hard to find a donor transponder through a wrecked e60. Anyone want to chime in on knowledge on how easy or not is is to recode a transponder and cost ???
  11. Hi Glenn Given I now have a spare key without a transponder fitted, do you have access to buy the chip set / transpoder for these keys so I can get 100% use out of the key again?
  12. I took my new blank key + my existing key to Ross Galt Locksmith and they cut one on the spot. Think they mentioned they could have done it with the number but I had my key with me so they did there and then.
  13. My e60 beast only came with a single key which was of concern for the past year. Pricing is around $500+ ex stealer. Ended up deciding that in reality I was more likely to lock the keys in the car so took the cheaper option of buying a key without transponder. Bottom line ... blank key without the transponder but space for it - $30 landed here on Ebay US (it was shipped from Poland) Key cut at local locksmith - $25. Now I have a bit of peace of mind.

    Sharetrading

Hi CamB Good to see you know your homework My logic is suggesting these shares is they are a higher risk share but also finance shares are definately not flavour of the month / year BUT that is the time to buy shares in sectors when everyone else has dumped them and they are cheap script. For a 1st timer, they want some excitement plus a lower script value will transpire into a quicker capital increase when they move upwards rather than a Bluechip share that doesn't move much at all - boring for 1st timers. PGC would be a reasonable medium term share. Since most of us got on at 40c when they offered rights, there is a good logic that most current holders won't unload below this figure so that should offer a reasonable base line. At Xmas when the Press did a survey on sharebrokers picks for 2010, 2 or 3 out of the 5 asked, had PGC in their picks. Any other share suggestions for our budding entrepeneur ...

Don't listen to the doom slayers It is never to early to buy shares - I bought my first PDL shares when I was 14 at school. You should buy a small parcel for the experience and learnings that go with it. While it is easy to read stuff, actually playing in a small trade is a fantastic way to understand the market, learn the jargon plus follow a share. I was looking at the Allied Farmers share today dropping to 8.5c and my view was that is lowest ever price so perhaps it is a good time to buy .... I hate sharebrokers as they talk me into shares I don't want and usually they have a 50/50 chance of going up (from experience). The best share to buy is one that is not flavour of the month as it will be cheaper. My current favourite share to buy / watch would be .... PGC Pyne Gould Company currently at 45c. Low downside risk and high upside over the next 12 months. Broker fees will get you regardless what you trade - $30 is not too bad and they are a business not a charity. For the record I use Direct Broking - good info on the site and history of share prices etc https://www.directbroking.co.nz/DirectTrade/static/home.aspx
  16. Have sent you a PM but for those reading the thread, it would land on road for $NZ 44,200
  17. If it is for your e60, then buy them in the US through sellers like these ... http://forums.5series.net/forum/37-private...er-classifieds/ then ship them by sea with this company ... http://www.kiwishipping.co.nz/kiwi-shipping/contact.asp Got to work out cheaper than buying in NZ
  18. Grey is nice play on words. For screen printing I would recommend this company http://www.screenconcepts.co.nz/ I play soccer with the owner, Mark, and he is a great guy. He is Chc based and would be happy to offer experience etc. He started from home some 20 years ago and now has a great setup
  19. Brother in law has decided to sell his wagon and get something with more seating for the family. He has had it for a while with zero issues. It's been garaged and pampered since he got it - originally ex Japan. Trademe link ... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-273553237.htm Thanks for looking.
  20. Went to the Friday 8pm show. Considering they had a small "stage", they couldn't really do much. The expensive cars drive thru was a nice touch. The jokes were good. Show felt a bit scripted in parts. Out of curiosity, in the other shows, did NZ come second to Sth Africa in the yelling match leader board as well ? Not sure if the camera stunt with the green & red cards was just a fabrication or the real thing ... Seemed a bit scripted too. Real question ... would I go again ... probably not. Drifting Red Bull car was fantastic though outside.
  21. Sorry for delay - was in Akl at Top Gear On road in New Zealand incl everything .... $NZ 67,800
  22. Allow $NZ 6k to handle shipping ex England in a container then GST & fees here at port. If serious, I can give you better indication in a spreadsheet once you tell me the cost in GBP.Best option is to buy it yourself in England on a holiday and I can give you advise on getting it back. It will be hard to buy ex England and ship doing it remotely. Autotrader is the Trademe equilivent. Japan is a WHOLE lot easier. Company to sign up with is ... http://www.kadoco.co.jp/ If you want to see listings, this is the link to the main site of 70,000 cars a week but if you have to ask Kadoco about what the pricing is going to be. USS auction data at http://bzl.cis6200.jp/e/ Please enter the homepage with ID number E72823 Best time to look at the selection available is on Wednesday Hope this helps Ron
  23. First car I ever imported was a 96 MGF. It was a minter but at the time I was told to replace the cam belt every 40ks as they are prone to breaking. Being 6" tall, the MGF was not for me as my head stuck out when the top was down or sit right at the back with my knees in my face when the top was up. It drove like a TR3 used to ... rattles and very hard on the suspension - just like an English sport car should. Sold it 6 months later at a profit and never went back to them. You couldn't have a converstaion at 100km/hr easily and had leaks where the hood meet the glass in the doors. You only buy one once .... Next vert I imported was a Z3 2.0 and it was a huge improvement. Drive was good and suspension made it pleasant. Definately my pick for a vert.
  24. Brother in law is considering selling his e39 530i Touring and asked me what they should sell for on TMe or similar. He did a search and there was not many Tourings out there so doesn't know where to pitch the price at. A few details ... Jap import - he is 1st NZ owner 71,000km Silver outside with black interior and woodgrain dash 530i SE Highline with tiptronic Fully optioned with all the fruit incl TV etc I think it has a front skirt on it Pampered and serviced with no issues at all Looking for some range pricing from those who follow pricing pleaseCheers Ron
  25. Hi & Welcome Good time to look at UK imports as the GB Pound is relatively cheap at the moment. I have imported 2 BMWs ex UK and both have had no rust issues. It depends how old the car is you are looking at. Where to buy ... easy ... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/CARS/buying/buying_a_car.jsp There is a lot of info on UK importing on this forum so try the search function for threads like this one ... http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....mp;hl=uk+import Like most here, happy to give you additional info if the numbers stack up. Like Andrew asked , what model are you thinking about ? If you can let us know the estimated price in pounds, I can give you an indication on the NZ on road price will be.
