  1. Due to the high level of interest in the car with the audio in it, I have changed the original post to state $7,500 firm with no option to remove the audio gear. So far only one person has indicated they may not want it, and I'm talking to a small handful of people who have indicated they are seriously interested. However, I'm obviously not counting my chickens until I have a sealed deal, so if you've been thinking about getting in touch to discuss, do so.

    Cheers.

  2. Some of you have asked for more pics. I haven't been able to go and take some since putting her up for sale. Understand that the car is in storage. ie. Battery disconnected, car cover, in a locked shed and not at my house. To go and get the car out and take photos and put it back is an hour or two's work including travel. I'd happily do it for a test drive, but seeing as the weather is sh*t, etc, I'm not all that keen to do it to take photos that look exactly like the ones posted.

Here are some other pics I've taken fairly recently before storing the car.

Once the MR2 sells, or if someone comes for a test drive, I'll take more pics then as I'll bring it out of storage and park it at home.

Pics (plate is now black NZ euro style rather than blue german):

  3. Ok thanks and what's the average l/100km around town?

Sorry mate, I have no idea. Thirstier than the original motor, but I really don't pay any attention to gas mileage. This car is my toy, not my daily. I don't do a lot of kms in it. I couldn't care less how much the fuel cost to run it, but it seems fairly acceptable to me.

  4. Mileage on engine?

    145,000kms on motor.

227,000kms on odometer. Still have the original engine - no faults, but since I had the lower mileage engine it was the choice for the supercharged setup.

I've had the car since 193,000kms So it's only done 34,000kms in the last 5 years. And only 5,000 since supercharged. As you can see - its not been a high-mileage car in my ownership. Serviced every 6 months or 5,000kms while I've had it.

I have full service history both in receipts but also documented in a spreadsheet. Available to view once an offer is on the table. I don't need every Tom d*ck and Harry knowing how much I've poured into this car.

  5. Saw an X1 in the flesh yesterday parked outside a hotel. YUCK.

Gets my vote for the worst BMW ever made.

Looks 5,000 times worse than the picture in real life. In the picture it's almost bearable.

Perhaps the one I saw was a facelift model as I'm sure it had the butt-ugly front of the one Westy posted. A nz test car maybe?

  6. 190-something, so yes close enough to 200rwhp.

Basically e30 m3 power, but comes on in a totally different way being from a straight six with forced induction rather than a n/a four.

I think if I had my way I'd prefer the m3, but then again, I couldn't get one for $7k either. And this definitely sounds way cooler.

  7. You all know this car.

I haven't had it regularly out of the garage for 18 months. I gave it a birthday about 2 months ago and gave it a few good shake-down runs to make sure there were no issues. Apart from a flat battery and new rear brake pads (plus a full fluid change) there were none.

Brand new WOF, and reg is on hold until it sells. Will come with 6 months rego for the new owner.

Not on trademe yet as I want to sell my MR2 first if possible, but if a BS member wants the e30, then I'd let it go first.

It could do with two small areas of paint damage repaired to bring it up to mint (and I mean mint) condition. I was going to have these done and put it on the market at $8-9k.

Once the mr2 sells this is still the plan.

But if you want to save yourself some dosh and arrange the touch-ups yourself (or drive as-is), then it's out the door at $7,500 firm. The paint work is a few hundred bucks, so you're well in front.

ECU/tune done by Gavin at Hi Velocity. We all know what he can do, and he's done a great safe tune on this.

Runs a SC14 supercharger installed to look as factory as possible. Everything has been done to a high standard. There is a build thread here.

Leather interior in good condition. All the SA extras like long-range fuel tank, sump guard, oil cooler, and cruise control. Everything works 100%. No rattles squeaks, etc.

Rims are BBS RB reps. Suspension is a custom H&R/Bilstein setup with custom valving and return plus shortened bumpstops on the billies. Bushes have all been replaced with Powerflex bushes except rear subframe. Front strut brace installed as well. Front tophat bearings and bushes replaced with OEM.

High-end Alpine cd head unit with amped Pioneer sub in custom vented box in the boot and amped Infinity Audio 6.5 components in the front and JVC 6.5 2-way rear fill off the head unit. Amp is rebranded Caliber CA75+ - audiophiles will know about this amp. Probably around $2k install when new.

This car has been fully maintained since I bought it 5 years ago. It's been my long-term project, and had alot spent on it. I'm not trying to recover my costs - it would simply be impossible to try.

I'm ready for my next project and have 4 cars which is too many considering I really only use one of them. I have a parts car the same colour which the new buyer could have for free if they want otherwise I'll be selling/giving it to the likes of Ray.

Many members have seen, heard, and ridden in this car and will atest to badass looks, sound, and better than half-decent performance.

Couple of pics below, but you've all seen it before. Sorry about the dirty bum...

  8. $3,500ono

Excellent condition, but not concourse. Minor knocks, etc that you only see if you look hard enough.

Mint mechanically, fully maintained and ready to go. You won't even need to bother with the usual new car purchase fluids and filters. It's already done including scheduled cambelt and water pump replacement 6 months and only a few hundred km ago.

    Trademe Auction

Priced to sell. Want it gone as I don't use it as much as I should be if I'm going to keep it. Fun mid-rear engined sports car with brilliant handling. Far better handling than my e30 even with it's custom suspension setup. Has correct-size staggered Toyos which have amazing levels of grip.

    Has been looked after.

  9. Group dragon from early '08 I found when cleaning out some old photos.

+100 points for most people in a group dragon. -50 points because some retards didn't play along.

    Still a good effort IMHO.

  10. Good Afternoon

This is to advise that the public consultation (yellow) draft of the Land Transport (Road User) Amendment Rule [2011] (Rule 61001/6) has been released for comment. This proposed amendment Rule will amend Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004 (the Rule), which sets out the rules under which traffic operates on New Zealand’s roads. It applies to all road users, whether they are drivers, riders, passengers, pedestrians, or persons leading or droving animals.

The amendment Rule proposes to change the give-way rules and to make other more minor changes that will affect road users. Changing the current give-way rules is a road safety priority in the Government’s road safety strategy, Safer Journeys – New Zealand’s Road Safety Strategy 2010-2020. Other proposals in the amendment Rule are intended to improve school bus safety and to strengthen or clarify other existing requirements, and to remove requirements that are no longer needed. Changes are also required to ensure the Rule is consistent with Land Transport Rule: Traffic Control Devices 2004.

You are welcome to call the NZ Transport Agency Contact Centre on freephone 0800 699 000 to obtain a copy of the draft amendment Rule. It is also available, with supporting information, on the NZ Transport Agency’s website at this link.

We look forward to receiving your comments and, to help you, details on making a submission are included in the overview to the draft Rule. It would be appreciated if you could send your submission by email or by using the on-line submission form provided, but postal submissions are also acceptable. Your interest and involvement in the Rule-making process is appreciated.

Please note the closing date for submissions, which is Friday, 24 June 2011.

  11. Yeah I looked at the 15" aswell as it had the added bonus of a full number keypad. Great for spreadsheeting, but its larger and almost half a kg heavier.

Update: I've got my WDTV hooked up. It does the job - just. certainly wouldn't rave about it.

Remote is too small and feels light and cheap. Not enough playback functions - continuous play for example, or graphical search. In fact there is no search whatsoever, and limited ways to display files (Alphabetical, By Date, or in Folders)

Menus are OK to navigate, but so far I'm yet to find a media player that has really good menus. Windows media Centre, Xbox 360, PS3, XMB all fairly crap.

Other issue is with not having a HD TV. I can only get stereo audio out of the composite leads. On the PS3 for example, I use an HDMI cable for digital audio to my receiver, and the composite video lead to the TV. On the WDTV if it detects an HDMI cable, it switches off the output to the composite jacks.

So I'm going to have to go and buy an optical cable to see if that will work. (as both the WDTV and my receiver have optical input/outputs).

I still haven't bought a notebook as my brother has an iPad 2 on order and I want to have a go on that first.

  12. No other brand really does CHEAP CHEAP laptops so my advice on cheap laptops would have to stick with out of Acer and Compaq, Toshiba would still be my choice - this is for the $600-$800 range.

I'm not saying I'm 100% correct on any of this but I'm just going on my experience :) Sorry if this has made no sense, I'm high on oil based paint fumes!

My budget is around $2k for a notebook, so I'm not looking at CHEAP CHEAP. As for the rest of what you say - fair enough.

Have been suggested a VAIO VPC-CCA15FG which is basically the same as the VAIO I had, but 6 or so months newer.

  13. I have to disagree with the above Clinton.

According to two computer repairers I've spoken to recently (not retailers, so they have no vested interest), the brands they have the least problems with, that fail the least often, and they see they least for repairs are:

    Hi-end Acers.

    Hi-end Toshiba.

All of the Sony VAIO range.

Low-end Acer and Toshiba are apparently as crap as the rest.

HP is apparently a bit of a nightmare too.

They both recommended Sony as being the most reliable machines they come across. So this flys in the face of what you say.
