Hello James,
I am not sure which "organiser" told you that, but that is not correct. You can fit an M20 into your car and go racing. The prefacelift bodyshells were all essentially identical and many of the race series cars did not start life as 320i's. It is only the 318i series cars which MUST be facelift cars, as the M40 was not fitted to pre facelift shells. . So although you cannot fit an M40 into your car and make it a 318i, an M20 is okay.
cheers Conrad
P.S. that S50 will be much more fun though!.............
oh, well my 318i is all setup to run in the series except for the engine , if i drop the 2L in i would be looking to sell right away so i could afford a 325i .
does the m20 just go right in, as i would be looking to swap it these christmas holidays then sell the whole car
the s50 projects stalled as the s50 itself kinda ruined the whole budget wont have any money for that till start of next year

haha they chrome the whole thing, thats how
and what a retard, cant even get the engine size right
-
haha classic
-
hey just to clarify, i was told by the organizers that my M10 318i isn't eligible, even if i put a m20 in it, due to it being a lighter car or sumthing along those lines, cause i've got a m20 sitting here and it just dosent seem right as how would weight matter , as there is a minimum wight anyway.

where can i purchase one of these kits for a e30
-
Shift light? Does it ever glow? Rev it out to its limiter and see
haha i rev the sh*t outta it and theres no light its just a little hole with the number 06 in it, i'm prolly gunna take it apart this weekend and replace the SI board battery, to me it looks like there is a dial behind it and the number can be changed
it is weird how i haven't seen any other rev counters like it in an e30, maybe it got replaced and its a rev counter from another car? as the only other rev counters in e30's i see have fuel millage at the bottom.

ahah this topic has changed from engine conversion to life advice
you should buy a S50 honestly, i'm putting one in my dads car e30
there not that expensive i swear

The best bit is that it's listed under hot rods
omg you mean its not a hot rod
-
niceeeeeeeee, i want it

A picture facing directly into the hole might help, to me it only looks like a small chip in the face of the gauge.
i couldent get a picture 2night as the flash on the cam ruins the whole pic straight on, all thats in there is the number 06 about 2-3mm deep and its really small, isn't that much to see but ill take a pic 2moro in the light
-
so i got a 1985 318i, thats the one with the m10 engine
there is a little circle below the 7 of the rev counter with a recess with the number 06 in it, now i havent seen this on any other bmw's befor and i cant seem to find any info on it.
hopefully you can see what i mean in the pic
thanks in advance for any help

umm no but would that explain why the service lights don't work either?
and like the problem is funny cause when its working properly (very rare) if you turn the car off and on agian it stops working
-
my fuel gauge is so much better than your guys, it works sometimes like 1/10 trips and when it does work, i managed to travel 300km and only used 5L WOW but seriously i can do about 350-450km on a tank with the old m10 318i depends if its racing/highway/town

cheers, the paint is still pretty decent for 300,000k
only mods or changes are wheels, pod filter, rollcage and bucket seats
edit/
and koni shocks and springs all around and new exhaust with coby mufflers

ahhh after looking in the haynes manual it would seem the "throttle position sensor" was not on and they say without it you get unstable idol ect ect
-
That would be the airflow meter, and I'm surprised it ran at all without that connected!
nah its not the airflow meter unit is the next part along the pipe like just befor it goes of the pipe into the intake manifold, but the cable is wired in the same cable on the afm
zzz i suck at terminology
-
turns out
there was a electric cable loose, not of the air filter part but the next part along :lol:lols im bad at explaining
when i connected that back up
that dropped the idle down to 1000
then a lil adjustment on the idol screw saw it go down to a nice 800-900
thanks for the help
