  1. Without actually viewing the car it is pretty hard to diagnose what the problem is. Are there any marks on the tyre that indicate it is rubbing on the guard? If there are no scuff marks then the tyre isn't rubbing and the noise will be something else. :)

    Informative!

There is slight scuff mark, look like the cut in the tyre. Its very fine cut round the tyre.

If 225 40 18 would fix the issue, you interest to swap mine 235 40 18 great condition like new to something secondhand 224 40 18 with I paid extra. I have low budget to spend on!

    Thanks

  2. Power bar guard roll :)

But really, are you getting any rubbing when turning sharply? If the car isn't lowered at all, then it could be a fallen piece of plastic from the inner wheel well, I can imagine that 10mm would effect an factory height car that much.

Turning sharply that I havent try but I can hear rubbing when go down or just getting into uphill where pushing the front down.

There is a dent in the front guard where cause problem however, I do not think because of the dent that really cause the issue because I did not have this rubbing with 16".

Do you all think change 225 40 18 would fix? Should I change all 4 x 225 40 18 or just the 2 front ones.

    Ta

  3. yes tyre size is to big for a e46 .

    225/40-18

or maybe a 235/35-18 will work??

    http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E46/Seda...s/summer_tyres/

how low is the car?? or is some of the plastic gaurd linners broken and falling down etc

The car is reasonable high (approx 35 or 40mm) 328CI and it wasnt lowered. I had no problems with my original 225 50 16.

    I just wonder if possible to run 225 40 18 front and 235 40 18 rear?

    Ta

  4. hi,

Got set of E46 Coupe 18" I think ET40 tires 235/40/18 however when i get into the hill or down hill with break, I can hear touching guards from the front. Not sure if it happen from the rear as I cant hear anything.

Is the tires size too big? 224/40/18 should fix the issue?

    Thanks

  5. HI all,

I got a Mobile Hand Wash car & boat groom company.

I asked him (might be the owner) for the fully service ( I really mean to get everything interior and exterior done). He told me I would purchase $200 service included cut & polish. Yes, $200 I would expect a very good, perfect job as $200 is the most expensive service that company offer.

A Chinese couple turned up and get the job started. After 3 hours of work, they finished it. I checked around the car and I did not satisfy with what they have done. I had to tell them what and where need to be done and they redo it. It was wasting the time and leading to disappointing for customer.

I personally think the Chinese couple is not professional, skill and expertise on what they are doing. I would do better job through.

My point here is I feel that mobile service normally these organisations contract the employees. Organisations and contractors share profit (50:50 or 30:70 maybe). Because of they contract people hence they do not control the job quality neither skill and expertise.

I would personally recommend do not purchase from the mobile service. The proper shop would much better hence they would care about their quality and reputation carefully.

  6. Kelvin may have got that mixed up. Qualitat were referring to the fact of making a warranty claim on failed components, not the lowering of the vehicle causing it.

Qualitat did not just refer to warranty claim, they also referred to the facts that lowering the car causing issues.

After quick look under the car, they also said if 35mm drop then it would cause something relate to 100mm (I cant remember) so the car cant pass WOF.

Keith mentioned to have correct spring, shock absorber etc so it shouldnt cause damage to the car. So you mean that lowering the car by JUST ONLY MOD the spring (H&R) would cause damage later on?

    Ta.

  7. OMG... very confusing in lowering my touran.

I brought it to Qualitat today for full service. I also asked the guy there whether I should lower (35mm H&R Spring) and he suggested to leave it as standard factory if its for daily use.

He said lower (35mm H&R Spring) would affect toward to the mechanical warranties, join ball fail, WOF fail, shock fail and lot of troubles that I cant remember all.

I personally like the sporty look with 18" wheel but.... consideration on what he suggested I think............ :( I dont know... give me an advise please.

    Thanks

  8. I have the number plate "LOWLDY" for sale if she's interested Kelvin .... belonged to my daughter

Thanks Glenn but my partner is not interested in.

To all others: any ones have any picture of how H&R 35mm drop (with and without full load) should look like?

I am very concern of the difficulty to drive as my partner isnt a good and skill driver.

    Thanks

  9. Could be one of many things..... battery, alternator, ignition switch, starter, inhibitor or central body control unit. You would also have to do a battery discharge check with the vehicle in sleep mode.

    Hi Glenn,

I have pass your information to the guy. His name is simon. He said he would give you a ring tomorrow morning. If you dont mind, please advise me what to do from your opinion.

    Thanks so much.

  10. Hi,

I have so much troubles with my E46 328Ci 2000. After this time, i am going to sell this piece of sht.

In the morning, my mate drove my car, stoped, turned off and drove back home without any problems. Problems seemed starting in the lunch time when I got back to the car in my garage, I turned the key to start, nothing happened. The engine did not start, the starter did not crank and did not turn the engine over. Dash light, head light still on and bright. Tested horn and still loud, electronic still on, stereo still work and air con still run hence battery isnt a issue in my opinion.

I tried many time and about 5 mins later, it worked and the car started. I went to the market, I stopped and turn off the car for around an hour then I started the car and drove back home without any problems. However, I need to use the car tonight, I started and the car did not start like thing happened above. I tried about 5 mins or more but it could not start and it ruined my weekend night damn.

In my opinion, it would be a issue with the starter. The starter doesnt seem to work fine hence it cant crank the engine to start the car.

Anyone have the same issue or know about this? Please help as soon as possible cause the car was outsite and on clear way monday to friday morning.

    Thanks alot.

  11. Hi,

My friend done service for my E46 328 CI 2000 but I wonder how to reset the service kms on the dash when turn the car on.

I follow the 2 methods below:

1: jump pin 7 and pin 19 on the 20 Data Link Connector for 3 seconds with key to position 2 but it did not reset the service clock.

2: push trip meter (left site of the cluster) and hold. Turn key to accessory (position 1) and wait for display to show either oil or inspection with kms on. Releasing the trip and press again. Hold until read "end". It did not work either. When I press the trip and turn key to position 1, it showed "test 1" for little while and then it did not show either oil or inspection with kms at all.

    Any ideas please?

    Thanks

    K
