  1. Basically the same as my car I but with leather and a bit lower miles I got mine for 1500 about 18 months ago and spent about 1000 to date on repairs and maintinence. It looks really nice and well cared for... If you really want an E30 then It would be hard to find something better for the same kind of money, also if you intend on keeping it for a while then 3500-4000 or what ever you can bargin him down to I feel would be a good price to pay. As with any car you take a risk buying it because things can and do go wrong, but if you look after it i'm sure it will look after you and you will be very happy with you purchase

  2. I think its the water pump just my opinion, my first E30 325i had the same sort of problem!! and that fixed it, but since thats quite a big job to replace, I would try putting correct sensors on first then if no joy go about changing the water pump and as a bonus you can replace the cam belt too... nothing like the peace of mind knowing you have a new cam belt on and your engine isn't going to Pop out of the blue!

  3. Ah true I remember now ....

"Only chicks drive coupes 'cos they're easier to park. I'm the man because I can parallel park an auto E30 sedan"

  5. I have been thinking about building and electric car for a while and was just wondering if anybody else had attempted or was thinking of doing something similar? Was planing on getting an E30 with blown motor and "droping in" an electric one!

Was wondering how much weight a 318i or 320i engine was to get a rough idea what is the max size motor I could put in...

if anyone is able to point me in the right direction for parts and advice would be much appreciated

    * note this is A BIG project and I know It will cost heaps just something I would like to work towards

  6. Yes thy are trying to rip u, tell them you want an invoice itemizing the cost, ie what things they claim to have checked before realizing it is the ECU. its going to be pretty hard to explain how the wasted say 5 hours @ $66 p/h to no avail then decided to call an auto electrician.

and just because they had to call in an auto electrician, that's not your problem they should cover the cost of that and not try to pass it on to you. unless they notified you and said we think it's and electrical problem and are going to let one have a look and charge it back to you, which I doubt the did.

When they list on the invoice the work done, tell them that 330$ is rediculas and you are only prepared to pay for 1 hour labor as such a simple fault should be obvious to a qualified mechanic.

if they try and get heavy handed and say they wont release the car,

then you can say you didnt authorize them to carry on working on the car you only wanted a quote of how much it would cost to fix as you were unsure of the problem, you didnt sign anything right?? and you didnt say "yea take as long as you like to find out whats wrong"

If that still dosnt work ask if they are member of MTA and you will be calling the Mediation Line Free Phone 0508 682 633 and laying an official complaint.

If not a member you could try fair go they love these kind of disputes
