    So how does the black headliner make the car handle compared to a grey one??

    Wasnt implying that there was any performance advantage , just what i was told !!

    personally i would not have bought my car without the sport package as i think they look 100 times better than non Mspec bmw's.

    The window motors give alot of problems on coupes. Waste of time using second hand ones on the coupes. We fitted 2 into a members car yesterday.

    Thanks Glenn , will look at replacing the motor !!

    The a annoying thing is just after posting this topic, tried window again and it worked.

    The motor does seem to be making alot of noise though, so will replace.

    1996 E36 328i Coupe

    Hi all have just been to an auto sparkie as my drivers side window would not go up. We have managed to get window up for time being but seems i will need a new control unit which is located under glovebox.

    Has anyone on here got one for sale ??

    Part # GMIV-LOW 12v

    BMW 61 35-8 369 483

    109 110 (499508 -white stamp)

    HW 1.45W1.3

    Is a black box/unit with yellow and blue sockets to one side / sorry no photo.

    Any help much appreciated, am located in Christchurch

    Hi all i recently put an add up on here for a replacement window control unit, as my drivers side window was stuck in the down posistion. Thanks to Ray from Hellbm i was able to get a replacement part and a good price ( Thanks Ray).

    So i changed the parts over and was working all good again untill yesterday when window was again stuck in lowered posistion. I can here the contol unit clicking when i hold button in both up and down posistion on the switch , but nothing from the window ???

    When i originally had the auto sparkie look at this problem he told me he was pretty sure the control unit was the problem.

    Is there anything else it could be ?? The window motor was tested and seemed to be fine. Seems weird that worked for a little while with replacement part but now back to square one ??

    Any help / ideas would be great thanks

    You might want to first try pin-point if the factory bits have problem or the aftermarket bit having issue.

    Does your dead-locking work with your key on both doors? (windows down, lock your car with key then try to open the door from inside)

    Out of curiousty, does your fuel door lock/unlock with the after-market remote?

    Hi thanks for reply, My fuel lock/unlock does not work with alarm either.

    Just tried the dead locking and i can still open door from inside on drivers door, but cannot on passenger door ?

    Maybe it could be something to do with the drivers door?

    I just realised that i can close both windows and sunroof with key which is pretty cool !

    My car is fitted with an AVS alarm/immobiliser system which also controls keyless entry. Everything has been working fine untill recently i would come back to my car and realise the doors were unlocked. The alarm arms and unarms as normal but nothing locks or unlocks. This was the first problem but now even when i use my key in the door it doesnt always unlock both doors, it always unlocks that particular door and the boot ? And sometimes both doors?

    Please has anybody got any ideas of how to fix this prob?

    The three fuses all seem good, could a weak battery cause this? All other electrics seem fine.

    The car is a 2 door/coupe.

    COSMOS (Brian) has black grilles on his E36. Think his might be painted but it will give you an idea or what it will look like.

    Thanks, It does look good on a black car just not sure on mine as is silver paint. Have seen a few pics on the net but the ones on Trademe look slightly different as if they stick out furthur than normal!

    Hi all just wanted to get your thoughts on lights for E36 , At the moment i have the old ugly orange indicators on my 96 coupe and was thinking of upgrading to the newer looking clear ones on 98 onwards models there are complete kits on trade for about $300. Or maybe i should tint out the original ones ?? Not sure how they would look on silver car ???

    Any ideas or pics ?

    Im having similar problems. but mine has a mind of its own. it has problems changing from say feet to windscreen. and the fan has a mind of its own. it wont blow on full and then i turn it down and itll go crazy. im so confused. also iv have got no heat either. grrrrrr

    Have replaced heater valves with 2nd hand ones all good now !

    Maybe your heater control unit is stuffed ?? The are for sale on trademe reconditioned for $100.

    My heater still makes some random noises like there is a squirrel being starngled in the dash but atleast i have heat now!!!!

    you can pull them apart , you will see perrishing of the rubbers in side etc

    Have removed the valves and seems the rubber inside has perished, gave pistons etc a bit of clean.

    Was wondering if there is anyway you can gut these valves out and leave in open posistion ?

    Would that cause any probs ? dont really use air con or cooling just need heat in the winter..

    Got any pics ?,was also thinking of putting jamex superlows in my e36.

    I currently have factory msport suspension with 18" but still think the front could come down a little and tighten up the handling!!

    When i bought car i knew it was in need of a new microfilter as blowing bugger all air through !! But now we are heading into winter have noticed that there seems to be no hot air either !! Would a new microfilter solve this or is it part of the heating system ? Have had a new thermostat fitted. Car is a 1996 E36 with the digital display for heater/ac controls.

    Any ideas ???

    Have just noticed one of my fan blades seems to be missing/broken , previously i wrote on here how i had been having rough-shakey idle issues. Would this broken blade be enough to make the car shake?

    Only shakes when engine hot and at idle or low revs, seems to drive fine apart from this ???

    Any reason you recommend them over a place like Kevin Burt?

    My 540i is due for a service soon, so I'm also interested in where the best place is to get servicing done.

    I ended up going to Mick at BMW services on Brisbane st sydneham, Seemed pretty good at a great price Oil service and diagnostic/scan check for $160. Had to get a service done professionally for my warranty. Kevin Burt quoted me about $300 for a diagnostic check and service which i thought was a complete rip off . Up to you though.
