Hi all, have a set of four window regs from a NZ new 530i sedan that I have no use for now the wagon has gone to a new home. Kept from a car I dismantled in case I ever needed to replace one. Cables all in good condition, move freely. $150 takes them, not keen on separating them. Thanks

Agreed, of the 50+ watchers only 4 have asked about the car. Will give her another going over and update the photos. Personally I’d rather see how the car has aged (better overall impression of how it’s been treated), but if the public wants shiny it’s what they’ll get ? Thanks everyone

Hi guys, have had the former family wagon listed as a classified on Trademe https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-2715447399.htm for roughly 2 months now. Had a few people make contact, only one viewing so fairly little interest this far. Asking $4750 ono, am I out of step with what these are worth nowadays or is it just a sluggish market for tourings at the moment? Pretty keen to find the old girl a loving owner, any advice is appreciated!

Crank position sensor is toast. The DME won’t arm the fuel pump unless it knows where cylinder 1 is in the cycle

2001 530i touring for sale. 217000km, second NZ owner after the 1st privately imported from Japan. Full cooling system replacement late 2014 (including those horrible hard lines under the intake manifold) , both cam & crank sensors replaced ‘15, ABS / ASC unit overhauled around the same time. Front upper & lower control arms & brakes replaced early 2019, new viscous coupling & radiator fan not long before Xmas last year. SLS airbags replaced earlier this year, MAF replaced at the same time. Serviced at 5k intervals with Castrol edge 5w-30, all work has been done myself. Xenon headlights with the clear tail and side lamps. Two keys & an NZ fitted towbar. We live in a semi-rural area so there are the usual stone chips around the front end and a small dent in the front passenger guard which I had quoted at less than $100 to have pulled out Job got derailed by L4 and subsequent L3 restrictions and haven’t yet had the time to get it sorted out. Has been a reliable and safe family hauler, with the exception of the SLS bags all parts were replaced as preventative rather than reactive maintenance. Selling as we’ve had to go up to a 7 seat suv with the addition of our third child, and I’ve gone to an LS1 with the end goal of a 650hp cruiser. $4750 negotiable I work a rotating 12 hour shift pattern so it can take me a little while to respond sometimes. Yeah, will be doing them as a pair. The drivers side definitely has a droop going on, though not as bad as the passenger side ?

Good grief, what a dog of a spot to try accessing with the wheels on!! I’d say the bag is the culprit, can see bubbles to the right in the photo. Outside of the dealers do you know of anyone that stocks them in Auckland? Have seen the seller on trademe, would prefer to collect tomorrow if at all possible. Thanks for your help Glenn

I wondered if it’s more to do with lambda tolerances in the fuel maps, had no troubles using e10 in my E36, admittedly I ran a Link ecu so could adjust tables accordingly

Took 2-3 tanks to resolve the issue so don’t expect miracles immediately

So we finally resolved the issue. I run the wagon on 98 octane, the only source local to me is Gull. Being E10 it generates a slightly higher AFR than regular petrol. The narrowband post-cat O2 sensors presumably have a very narrow tolerance. Switching back to 95 octane from the local Z eliminated the issue. Cheers to Joe Clifton for his input, was 100% correct in his assumptions. Worth a try Nathan!

Thanks. What do you reckon? On the right track suspecting a faulty airbag? Would I be hearing leaking from outside the car if it’s the air line or should that be audible inside the cabin?

Have had a play with INPA, managed to raise the rear left to normal height and observed it sinking, can hear escaping air from outside but nothing leaking from the inlet line or around the retaining clip. Oddly it’s now staying at normal height, no audible leak. Admin can we move this thread to maintenance?

It’s no longer holding air, compressor is running but it’s not inflating the bag anymore, can hear it leaking like crazy. 218000km and 19 years old, it’s probably time they were replaced

Hi all, passenger side air bag has finally let go on the wagon, needing a replacement pair fairly urgently as it’s now my daily driver. New would be ideal but quite happy with a known good used pair. Auckland or Hamilton preferred Thanks
