  1. Grant, do you see many of these around?

I have been following Tesla's progress with interest for a few years now, and genuinlly think they will mass produce the car of the future.

No, first one I have ever seen. I'm sure there are a few in the San Francisco or LA area, but none I would imagine in the Sacramento region (Sacramento is very much a cowtown that also happens to be the State Capitol).

Last year, Tesla and Toyota entered into a big agreement, and are converting a Toyota factory not too far from me into a production plant for the Tesla sedan that will be coming out soon. In return Toyota will utilize Tesla's technology in their EVs

As far as hybrids go, they are everywhere here. Every fifth car is a Prius, Insight or hybrid Camry etc. The Californian Government makes them as attractive as possible to own with huge tax rebates, the ability to drive in carpool lanes, priority parking etc.

Also now that PHEV/EV's are becoming more popular, progressive cities like San Francisco are putting in place special parks where you can plug in your PHEV/EV to recharge while you are parked.

The building I work in, has recharge stations built into the carpark (it is a new building with a huge focus on environmental friendliness), but I have yet to see a PHEV/EV using them, and the parks are always taken up by normal hybrids.

  2. Haha Telsa Roadster.

Is that fog in the headlights....... wouldnt expect that on a brand new car that expensive!

I think it was just the way the sun was angling on the front of the car, and the fact the the photo was taken with my cellphone.

I'm also not sure what to make of the 'haha' at the start of your post, I think that the Tesla is a great car.

  3. My 2c even tho' i wasn't there lol.

    Fair call Brian.

However I don't think they're lazy as such, more a case of some members just didn't think 'bout it.

Having twin 18 yr old boys i can vouch for the fact that sometimes i stand there thinking 'WTF, why didn't you do .........', but it honestly didn't even enter their head.

I think you have hit the nail on the head here

  4. So you're taking a left wing opinion story and presenting it as fact. Solid foundation for a debate.

You think Phil can do you a better job? Haha, let's see where that gets us.

And you're realising only now the (NZ) media is full of sh*t?

    Far Goff.

And here's the problem if anyone dares start a thread about a serious topic, you get idiotic uneducated responses like this.

Karl, you seem like a bright guy, try acting like it, and not a smart assed idiot.

  5. Spoken like a true Labour supporter, so why are you bringing politics into a car forum?

Brian, this is an off topic section of the forum, which would in itself lend this area to discuss exactly this type of topic.

I also think that providing people can contribute with respect of others, then this could be interesting.

The off topic is useful for more than just recycled jokes.

  6. The other driver I will follow with interest will be Kobyashi (spelling??), I think he is very talented and his aggressive style is great to watch.

To me last year, any team that wasn't RBR, Ferrari or McLaren were a second tier. No driver or team outside of these three were ever going to win a race under normal circumstances.

In saying that, Renault may be a force to be reckoned with this year. I guess that time will tell.

As much as I like Massa, I think Ferrari need another first rate driver along with Alonso to challenge McLaren and RBR. Massa just doesn't have the mental fortitude to be a real challenge.

  7. I can’t wait to see the RBR.

I hope Kubica gets his chance to shine this season, he is a bloody good driver.

Viewership was up 75% last season, the highest in over ten years apparently.

My money on Vettle this year.

I agree, Kubica is the best driver in a second tier car.

I also think Vettel will win the championship, he is the driver with the most potential, who will only mature with time. Webber blew his only chance last year, he will be a definite number 2 this year.

I still think that the best driver at the moment without a doubt is Hamilton, and assuming his Mclaren is a step up from a lot of last year, he will be a Vettel's main rival.
