  1. Gave the starter motor a light tap with a hammer and viola, damn thing started. I guess brushes maybe shot. So the hammer is a main stay in my boot for the meantime till I sort out the starter motor

  2. Manual doesn't, auto does, but to be honest - have never needed to find it though. It will be one of the relays behind the glovebox. Not under the bonnet.

Thanks. At this stage I'm hoping it's just the relay otherwise time to look for a starter motor

  3. So i have decided to keep racks,

but il take them off car just chuck them in wardrobe and put on maybe for a show and shine,

Since ive ordered a Thule wind fairing off ebay.

I got the black leather recaros on friday and put them in,

The blue ones are for sale for $500, the condition of the blue ones was so much better but i prefer the look of black leather,

Which i will be redying amd covering at some stage.

If the blue leather doesnt sell by end of next month i will put it into my 320i

    I recieved my cambelt/tensioner and waterpump/gasket

Which i will get put in along with my 5 speed conversion next month ( or the next /: )

And i am getting a price for a 2.8 stroker after that.

Rims are getting painted later in year

Need to get some 10mm 4x100 hubcentric spacers

Which im probably getting off ebay for $60

Not much else happening so possibly ordering the h&r springs next week or the next.

(Have the money just dont wana spend another $700 after paying $700 for the leather)

    Keep ya posted,

Keen to hear your guys opinions etc

Ive actually dyed my blue leather recaros to dark gray about 3 months ago. I use VHT vinyl dye then applied some leather conditoner a couple of days later. it turned out pretty good So far no fading

  4. Probably want to make sure they're insured for shipping too for the money.

FYI, these use to go for $999 at mag and tire direct when they came out. Keep in mind with rep wheels, they are pretty heavy as they use low grade cast alloy construction and don't do performance or fuel economy any favours.

Mag and tyre still sells them at $799 if im not mistaken. decent looking reps, actually bought a set of 15x8 earlier this year. But they only do 15 inch, was really after 16's.

Good point on the insurance btw

  5. Sounds good mate, was it a brand new one? How much did it set you back? I took the radiator sensor out and one of the thermostat ones... (Most definitely should have got both out) and cleaned all the clumped up cooling fluid off it then flushed my cooling system... Interesting thing was the car idled at a nice level pace with a lot less play than usual.. Could be going down your road a bit there. This problem could be a myriad of small things. The main issue is still taking that gas pedal of after revving the car and it struggling to get back to idling.

Around $25, there's the bosch and tridon brand. Went for the bosch ones. Funny thing is, idling is now all good but car now tends to hard start when engine is warm or after long drive. Might be the coil going bad or something else

  6. That is a good idea, the only one in the hawkes bay region is Jeff Gray and i can't afford to spend a bomb on them. Also i know i am very close and have already spent so much time trying to fix this... that said it may be more beneficial to have money well spent on a technician who won't waste my time.

yes I didn't find anything much untoward apart from a bit of oily/moisture around the connecter plug which i dried and cleaned off... When the car fired up today it happily went to 5k rpm and beyond. does that mean i could rule out a spark problem and fuel delivery issue?

I'll continue trying to clean things up this weekend. I did pull that temperature sensor in the thermostat housing out and it was pretty globby and horrible in it. Residue from the coolant was all over it. i don't have a multimeter handy so that was more of a reason to send it off to the sparky. <_<

Just replaced the temperature sensor (blue plug) this morning, resistance of the old one was way off. idle is now smooth at 600 rpm. Hopefully car will consume less petrol now since previous idle was between 700-800rpm

  7. I've been looking for BBS RS wheels for my e30, but am struggling to find authentic ones at a reasonable price. So I've decided I might just get some well done replicas. Does anyone know a place in NZ that sell BBS RS reps in about a 16 or 17 inch?

    Check out these listings

I just think they are bit pricey though, considering they are reps. I would personally choose ESM if I have the money to spare
