  1. Depends who you are using to do the work. Also on the size of the repair, most stuff they wont send an assessor of for so no problem. But new turbos etc they would. Mhd and cobb tunes are easy to revert back to stock, its just the bolt ons. Eg Weigh up the cost to remove and reinstalll downpipes to the cost of the repair claim.  If you are prepared for the hassle and extra cost for the performance no problem otherwise easy to leave stock and go balls out after year 3.

Chargepipes , intercooler , cold air are all easy stuff you can do yourself.

Personally I wouldn't mention anything about modding to the Mechanical warranty company.

Also some policies have huge holes in there wording that they can be challenged on, should things get heated.

  2. Might be doing the 1/4 mile at Meremere this Sunday in the family station wagon 335i, depending on weather. Its my first time so would appreciated any tips.

Im auto  and should be mid 400 horse. I will also limit boost in 1st and second.

    1. Should I turn traction control right off?

    2. Start in 1st or 2nd?

    3. Do I just slam the throttle ?

I've used this company before for 1 hour of troubleshooting on the dyno before. They also hosted a bimmersport dyno day back in 2014 for us.

People seem to think dynos are just for checking Max Power and torque output or for tuning. They're also a useful troubleshooting tool.

I paid $85 + gst for 1 hour of time.

Awesome,I will give them a whirl

Quite a difference eh steve on E40 vs 98 maps, just wait till you run the E60 OTS/custom map - that TQ curve :D

I got the kit a few months ago from Fuel -IT as well , pretty bummed out the new flex fuel system on the MHD side uses another ethanol sensor - apparently the fuel-it won't work with the kit :(

Just bear in mind on the 335i - you can run 30/40 mix with the stock LPFP (low pressure fuel pump) - if you want to run more on the stock turbos/upgraded turbos , you will need to get at least a stage2 LPFP from Fuel-it

I have the stage 2 bucketless so will give the e60 a try. How did your HPFP look running the e60 ?

  5. Price seems high. Even with the autosure warranty you will still have the excess for each issue should they arrive

    Wastegate rattle

    Oil Filter housing Gaskets

    Abs/dsc Module

    Valve cover gasket

    Waterpump

    these are just common issues

the 335i is a great car with lots of potential for more power. But they are not a worry free vehicle.

The yanks rave about ethanol, sadly i never see for sale in Wellington. With your wedge tune did you have to send them any data or was it off the shelf? Also does the tune adapt based on the level of ethanol?

Started with OTS, then went with custom map. Yeah have to send logs back for adjustment. Tunes are not self adapting yet, but the work are motion with MHD. Logging is the hardest part finding a long straight quiet road in Auckland where you can do a full rev pull in third isn't easy

  8. Ran my first tank of Ethanol on the weekend in my 335i. That stuff is the business. I was supposed to be running the 1/4 at mere mere for a corporate day but it got rained out. The car is way more responsive and pulls a lot harder ( on the appropriate tune) . Highly recommend.

Guys I am looking to replace my charge pipe. I got one of the Phoenix racing ones but its junk and wont actually fit. What options are there that fit RHD cars. I like the look of the Cobb pipe.

Don't buy the cobb one either most reports are they are junk also. I recommend ER even VSRF are better that the ones you have mentioned
