    E36 M3 Evo

1998 M3 coupe for sale, techno violet. Euro Spec. approx 184,000kms Owned this car in the UK for 2 years before moving back home. Have full history (incl original sales reciept from BMW Glasgow). Imported about 2.5 years ago, very rigorous checks to get in so is in good nick. Fantastic car, goes like a cut cat. 3.2l, 6-speed smg (smg's seem to have a bad rap here, but never given me any trouble. perhaps something to do with the Japanese assembly for most NZ models?), heated seat (grey leather), sunroof, 6-disc cd changer (or just use the tape deck!!!) No major mods, all easily replaceable if you want it back to factory condition. Non-factory parts are angel-eye headlights and lexus-style tail lights, Eibach pro street coil overs (stainless steel, adjustable), Eibach sway bars, Zimmermann drilled front discs, also has tyre pressure/temp sensors (just valves with a sensor so can be removed easily, digital readout only double sided tape in cabin too so no holes cut in dash or anything). On Kapiti Coast at the moment, but will be moving to Christchurch in a couple of weeks. Very reluctant sale, but got the mrs pregnant so my own fault I guess! $20,000 ono for cash. Or do a deal on a double-cab ute, suv or large station wagon (either straight swap or a bit of cash my way)
  2. Cheers westy. I assume it's pretty easy to get at for a look? and do you know if it's pretty easy to change myself, or would need a mechanic if it's stuffed?
  3. I'm sure someone's asked this before, but I'm looking for fuse 47 in a UK-spec E36 M3. The fuse box says it is involved with the alarm and is located under the glovebox on RHDs, but I've pulled the glovebox out completely and can't find the damn thing! very frustrated. also, can anyone confirm if all M3s come with a factory alarm? it's a '98 model and some websites I've found say that an alarm was standard on M3s, but 2 BMW dealers say mine's aftermarket. it does have "BMW Alarm System" stickers in the windows which, while I realise it doesn't mean much, I imagine they don't hand those out to all and sundry just for giggles.
  4. Thanks guys. Forrest - keep me informed. sounds like it could be a good day out. Apex - nah sorry mate, a bit further south than the 'Tron. Did live there briefly though. Techno voilet is the official colour (or dark metallic purple if you don't believe in colours like 'salmon'). Really cool colour anyway, when it's polished up I like your thinking on getting to buy things for it but a) she doesn't drive, she'd probably leave me and take off with it! Cheers for the tip on the brakes. Will be a long way off though as I've got a few more pressing issues to sort yet: window seals, minor rust in doors and boot lid (gotta love that UK salt!), alarm stopped working, and now a bit of a vibration that sounds like the drive train has issues and that'll never be cheap. at least it ain't the gearbox though, so cheaper than it could be I guess.
  5. I am getting a lot of vibration between 80-100kmh that I can only feel in the centre armrest (E36 M3 btw). Can't feel it in the steering wheel so assume its not a wheel out of balance, but can't feel it anywhere else. My passenger feels it under her feet, nearer the front. Any ideas? I'm wondering if it's the driveshaft out of balance or maybe a bearing on the way out? Seems to ease a bit once the vehicle is warmed up.
  6. sweet. looks like my weekend has just taken care of itself! any idea where I can get those parts in Wellington? Also, are the rear windscreen ones easy to fix or is it a windscreen removal?
  7. Probably a sensor issue I would imagine. I have a similar issue with lights on mine E36. Especially on rainy days it comes up with taillight failure, or brake light failure, but my lights all work fine.
  8. Hi, I'm new to the forum and thought I'd say g'day. Was always a rotary man (still am really), but loved my first blat in an M3 so much that I had to have one. I have a '98 E36 M3 (3.2l, smg box) that I brought back from the UK. No major mods. Eibach prostreet coilovers and swaybars (salt on the UK roads trashed the original gear so went for the stainless steel partly for looks and partly for durability), Zimmerman drilled discs, angel eye conversion. Would love a Brembo brake upgrade but finding it hard to justify the expense (well I have no problem, but convincing the missus.........) By my name you can probably figure I'm from down in the Mainland. Have recently moved to the Wellington area though, so if anyone can advise on mechanics and suppliers in the area (especially ones to avoid!) would be most appreciated. cheers PS don't have pics on this computer, so might get some up later
  9. what was the result? I have imported my M3 from the UK and the alarm was getting a bit tetchy before I left there, but hasn't worked since in NZ. I've replaced the fob battery and the light comes on, but nothing happens even sitting in the car.
