I could collect them and bring them back to Auckland when I drive back up there, however this will not be until some time in March. But I don't really have anywhere down here to store them as I live in an apartment. Other option if any other members down here can help, If someone can get them picked up and cut I can package them up and fly them back to auckland with me, I fly back up there every weekend so it would not be an issue.

I may be able to help out, Im working in wellington at the moment and have my ute down here, have you got any photo of these pipes to show us what you would like done and how you would want it cut?

Yea I was looking for most of last year before I bought my one, I was trying to get a blue one as they look stunning in the sun, but I unfortunately missed out on a manual blue one which sold last year before I could get to it.
-
Nice criteria, same as what I used when I bought mine. Good luck on finding one, they are an awesome car.

Thanks guy for your help, I replaced the seal on saturday without any issue, We did it at my mates workshop which made it alot easier. Hardest part of the whole operation was inserting the new seal into the diff. Checked the oil too and it was still at the full mark and very clean so there was no need to add or change it.
-
What oil does the rear diff on an e46 m3 require? I am going to replace the seal this week and want to know what oil i should use to refill the diff?
-
Can the seal insert tools be eaisly sourced? Through ebay or similar?
-
Thanks Paul, What oil did you use to Re Fill the Diff after you had changed the seals? You mentioned in your thread about subframe cracks? Where would I look when under the car to see if there is any issues on my car in terms of this?
-
I perfectly happy with dirty hands. The quote was high cause they were going to drop the diff out to change the seal. You mentioned that you have to drop the shock? Where did you undo it from?
-
Wicked thanks Tom, so you can replace it without removing the Diff? Jerry clayton on the shore quoted me over 600 to do this which is nuts when you consider the parts only cost about $80. Im going to get my mate to help out anyway, he's mechanic so i don't see this being a major. Thanks for the instructions too.

Hi All, I have a seal on my rear diff which needs to be replaced, It is the right output seal. It is not dripping oil, but oil is defiantly seeping out. How hard is it to replace these seals? is there anything to be wary of or tricks which make the job alot easier. I have got a quote to do this work and it was Huge, so I will be carrying this work out myself over the next week or two. Just interested to see if anyone else has had to do this and what their results were.

Thanks, are you able to clear out your inbox so i can send you a message? Cheers

Agree, the most important thing it to make sure the filter is clean and doesnt leak. Honestly you are better off buying a brand new standard filter regurlarly than a K&N and keeping it for years.
-
Short Answer ... No, Changing the air filter is good for the engine and keeps things running nicely, but in terms of performance you will not notice anything, you may have a slightly different induction sound but that will be about it. Also depends on the condition of your old filter too, if that was clogged with dirt, sand, & bugs you car might breath a bit easier, and possibly increase your fuel economy but only slightly if any.

Hi Jono, What year is the car? also are you selling the head unit? does it work perfectly? and how much would you want for it? my volume control has gone on my head unit. Cheers, Liam

Hey guys. Why does the e46 only have 1 rear fog light?? I thought i had blown a bulb so i opened them up to find that only one has a bulb in it? Is this done for a reason? Cheers
-
Oh sweet thanks. Yea so after realizing that the key needs to see the rear view mirror the keyless entry works first time everytime. Thanks Neil.
-
Hi Guys, So ever since I bought my E46 the Keyless entry has been intermittent at best. Sometimes it works first time other times I can click the damn thing 20 times and nothing will happen. I have brand new batteries in both my remotes and both have the same issue. This is really frustrating and I would really like to fix it. My thoughts are there is an issue with the receiver in the car possibly? has anyone come across this before or know how to fix it? Also this is what my keys look like, I don't know if this is a genuine key or an aftermarket one, but I have two which are both like this. Can anyone shed some light on this problem for me? Cheers.

Yea they do make some nice intake noise I will give the kit that. Oh yea the clutch stop sounds like an interesting mod, All depends on your shifting style I guess, I have found that pulsing the gas slightly as you depress the clutch, change gears, then dump the clutch and give it some gas works pretty well. Anyway once Im more tuned to the way the car drives I might have a go at this to see the difference. Sounds like it could be handy for gymkhana's as this is where I have normally found changing gears a bit challenging. Thanks Paul, I would like to see the difference, and the CSL's are a damn nice car. Maybe Ill end up at the same meet as Tom one day.

HTC rent tools out, not sure if they have this one though,

Thanks man, Im sure I will work my way through the forum over the coming months. I ran Invo's on my last car and have no complaints, in terms of bang for buck I cannot think of a better tyre, They can also be sourced for very reasonable prices if you know where to look. Im currently running Falken FK452's which I love, being directional they are awesome in the wet too. Ive heard good things about the Falken ZE912 tyres aswel. The guy I bought the car off gave me the K&N kit, I thought I would fit it and see how things went. The truth is a cold air intake will not provide any extra power over stock unless you tune the car with the kit fitted and remap the ECU, that being said unless it makes a 5 -10% increase in power you will never feel the difference. I found that it just made it alot louder. Also K&N filters are meant to be oiled and cleaned regularly. I did not have any of the oil, or couldn't be bothered cleaning it so I bought a brand new panel filter and refitted the factory air box. In terms of cold air intakes on the car It would be interesting to measure the inlet temperature on a car running the stock air box, then compare it to a Cold air kit. In terms of design the "Heat shield" would actually do very little to deflect heat as it is made out of a conductive material. The factory airbox is plastic, has two air intakes from the front of the car and I honestly believe that this is as good as it will get without doing some serious mods. When you look at where they draw their air from too the stock system draws air in through the grill and next to the fog light, where the pod filter draws hotter air from the engine bay. So my thoughts on it are unless you are fitting a turbo or supercharger there really isn't a need to replace the factory air box. Check this out for more info on the topic, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCi2yo4UqPI No I haven't done anything to the clutch, What does removing the factory clutch stop do? is there any threads on this forum about it? Cheers

All depends on what model you are looking to import I guess, if you are looking for an E36 then yes that would probably be the case as they have a few years on them now, also got to be conscious of the fact that they salt there roads in winter so you are likely to find ALOT of rust. Japan would be a good options as you can find absolute jems which have lived in there garage their whole life and only do about 1000kms a year, they also really look after cars over there.
-
Imported from where? UK, Japan ? My car was imported from japan with 5000kms on it, and im sure it cost alot less than its equivalent here in New Zealand. I also know of a couple people who have imported E92 M3's from the UK, both were pleased with the final result, and From memory I think it was cheaper than buying the same vehicle here in New Zealand.

Small world haha, they are both still active members in the club who still own there cars, Keith now lives in Australia though. I did also consider a 1/2jzgte conversion, a few of the guys in the club recently did this, One of them is putting out 280 - 290 kW atw with a 2jz on a factory tune, however the cost of doing this was too high. I also looked to buy an Altezza which already had a 1jzgte engine in it which I was going to run up to over 300kW atw, but just before buying it I found out that it had been in an accident at some point in its life so I walked. After all that I decided I wanted a car that had reasonable power from stock and was comfortable to drive, but could also handle a bit of stick. So I bought an M3 and havent looked back.
-
Thanks Graham, You would have know Diane, and Keith back before they started the current forum then. I wish I could have gotten a TTE version, I did consider a conversion but it just was not worth the money considering I would only get around 140ish kW at the wheels. I think I made the better choice to buy the M3
