Nothing like a road trip in the 38, doesn't get better

Long weekend work done. Headliner, all pillars, rear parcel shelf all removed for re-lining. Headliner saggy as sh*t.
Since most of the lights are out, might as well do interior LEDs as well.Looking forward to a fresh new interior linings.
Just needs starter motor replaced, tomorrow's job for removal. Steering rack is noisy on adjusting so that'll get looked at while it's off the road for a week or so. Then we are pretty sweet, touch wood trim

Good excuse for a NP meet, see this puppy

Haha yeah it's pretty funny, he holds nothing back. Got mates banging on about their Vag diesels, gone quiet but been pretty screwed over really, good thing I stayed Petrol , probably less emissions from the V10.
Well that's what I'll tell myself

Sold quick, did love that colour

Our 550 E61 average about 12l per 100, best open road distance we got was 10l

9 hours ago, KwS said:$85 for pads? Are they made of compressed chinese recycled cardboard or something?!
Ive paid more than that for smaller pads on lesser cars, lol.
We'll see how they run, will update
if they are crap, it won't take long to work it out

Specs suggest 1940kg unladen weight so with that kinda mass, you want to be able to stop efficiently, especially with 232hp per tonne available.
Yeah well stopping is definitely the tyre and brake combo no doubt and stopping this tank needs some dinner plates but this thing pulls up super good

6 hours ago, Olaf said:that's actually kind of tempting! High mileage and complex high-end German certainly has risks. What's to be aware of on something like this?
Only example I have is the S8 and that's worse tech risk wise lol, I haven't looked up the diesel specs but believe they are pretty reliable. More so then the 4.2 petrol, again I would research more.
the rest of our D3 example has been very robust and really I have less concerns for it then I did with our E61 550 that always seemed more 'temperamental' can't put my finger on exactly why though.

It's not a bimmer but it is a big arse stoking deisel!
I do seriously love our D3 S8 and this is pretty good VFM.

Puppies are 385mm, even with factory 20s I need to use a fine brush to get into them enough to clean!

10k Routine service and the brake pads indicator has been on.
Brake pads $85, rotors $532 and service. Total $1321 incl.
10l of 5w30 is $200 and genuine filter is $100 so overall pretty happy with the full amount.
the laugh of the day was the office lady went to pick up the replacement rotors and couldn't lift them. They are so bloody big.

Apart from the mini coupe bit right?

Saw this also, I can see why they cost so damn much to make. Very impressive to see that some craftsmanship, particularly in body prep is still being sort after.
low volume production at one of its finiest, even if it was a couple years old

Very nice, classic E39 Kyu, good job

DIY on the full job was to much time I'm afraid, just tidying up the covers before reassembly. Looking forward to getting it sorted this week!

Stripped valve covers on the M62 while it's having timing chain guides replaced. Ready for priming and painting tomorrow for the rebuild next week

Yeah it's been for sale for a while, bargain spec if I recall as well. Probably all the plastic is brittle as hell. Only good for parking up as you've called out lol

Only reason to do it prior would be peice of mind, my other E38 740 was at 230k and never been done. For me it was always hanging as a potential problem but again, might have lasted another 50k or 100k.
if your skilled or confident enough I'd say give it a go, but it's a step to far for me
