My front left wheel/area on turning a slower speeds is making an intermittent rubbing/rumbling noise. Nothing is hanging off(!), any ideas?

Seems like an easy clean and may fix my 1300-2000 RPM minor-surging and fluctuating idle.

Interesting. Yeah, everyone talked about idle resolution with the ICV, but not really with the DISA.

f**k, going to have to take it in for some trial and error expensive fixing probably!

Been doing a bit of research to find out my idle issues, it's not severe or getting to the point where I worry it is stalling, it just has a slight up and down in slow/stopped traffic. Anywho, I found some info on the idle control valve, and then I found out the N52 engine does not have this part, it has the DISA instead, two mechanically controlled plastic flaps on both sides of the engine.

So, my question is, has anyone on here removed this and cleaned it? Similar to the process of cleaning the ICV. The M54 had these parts too.

Ignore, the N52 doesn't have an ICV, it only has the DISA!

^ Hell yes. I've been watching the older Top Gears on Netflix and it's pretty awesome, plus they're in HD!

Would love to see these guys keep going, although perhaps a more limited budget might make the show a little better without so much hollywood and script antics going on?

This needs the conversion done to it, prices range from $250 to $500 for it at various places. It's not band expansion, it's actual adjustment of the software.

Sometimes I've found Z's 95 to give me a noticeable improved change in performance over BP98, which is odd. Although I always go back to 98.

Checked the fuel pump and relay switch? I had the same year, same engine Polo for awhile (before I got rid of the unreliable f**ker), had stalling and cutting out issues for awhile until it reached cutting out every 100 metres...

330i, although both are excellent and very different.

530i if I was doing more motorway driving and long distance, 330i around town.

I used some good car wash (no salt) stuff, and an old kitchen sponge/scourer. Loads of elbow grease (plenty in the cupboard, apparently.)

Mate had one (a chick) and it was okay, kinda lame, uncomfortable, small and kinda clunky to drive.

If I ever bought one it would have to be extremely hotted up, I kinda of see them like a better version of the Beetle, a quirky ladies car.

I guess it's a catch-22 for BMW.

The older numbers (the higher the went after the series number) was a marketing point, i.e. how big is your willy.

Now they have the more powerful smaller engines, but probably don't want their whole line up to be 320s, 520s etc., the 328i is too good to scrub out as a designation. So now it's not the size, it's how you use it!

Maybe they should just come up with a new range of numbers that still go up, but make more sense.

Remember that this started with the e39 though, the 540i is a 4.4l.

I love how they charge $399 for just the radio fix. I bet it take 2 minutes.
