Still mint, black leather interior and completely original. Infuriating though as I now have to spend above what I was originally wanting to pay to get it to the spec I want.
Indeed im aware of that particular E36, it really stood out, a car that looked well cared for...which is a bonus! I feel the pain man haha, i sold my auto avus blue 328 Just shy of 7k a few months back....so don't feel too bad mate

I spend 2 months looking for a 328i manual coupe, offering anywhere from 9-10k for really nice ones.I settle for an nz new auto and manual convert it, total price roughly 7500.
2 weeks later this pops up, along with a couple of other really nice ones, well below what I was originally offering.Murphy's fkin law.
Ouch bro! Yeah i remember you were looking, there's now a few silver 328 manuals reasonably priced. But the car you purchased looked really mint though? The montreal Blue e36? If im not mistaken.

Don't know the seller, but this could be a fun summer option for a member? Priced reasonably IMO, anyone looking for something that has most bits and pieces done already? Converted to Manual via Hellbm so should be top notch work i assume.

Decided to get the BC Gold adjustable suspension....don't ask me why ? Haha, but i'm sure this will be fine for the mean time. I would prefer some Bilsteins, or maybe Koni, but i'm going to trial these and see how they perform. There's no real negative feed back, and if anything...it's gotta be an upgrade over Monroe / or Boge suspension hahaha. Rather cool, must i say, nicely packaged, undamaged, even the drop links are supplied along with the usual bits and pieces. So i'm looking forward to installing these, but it'll be one of the last things i do on the car.

Installed the new Brake Disc Rotors the other day, the Right Front and Rear Rotors didn't want to budge, fairly well rusted on after sitting for a few years haha, but after some persistence they popped off ?. The brake pads had plenty of life left in them, so "maybe"...i'll replace them, or just keep the new sets for future days?? The Shocks are just for show...pretty much dead hahaha, im finding new things i didn't know about, but thats part of the joys of working on projects i guess. I did remove the stickers...so don't worry about that ?.

Apologies on the delayed posts, been so busy with everyday life, so much that i barely made much progress. However....thanks to the helpful team at NZAD, Speedfactor, Bmworkshop and Redline Performance, i managed to source many parts for the build. Still have a few small things to tick off the list, but will hopefully achieve that this week or later.
Acquired a Competition Clutch / lightened Flywheel setup from Speedfactor, they had an Extra lightweight Flywheel option, but wasn't sure how that would perform? But im sure this setup will do the job just fine ?

Hi there
thanks for the reply, could be a possible option, yes it is hard to find a non- M with a LSD as you stated, pm me with a price, also, current mechanical condition. Thank You.
-
Looking at options for the E36, currently has the 323i auto diff, have been looking at putting a manual 328i diff in, but if someone has a compatible LSD to suit, i'd be keen on that, price + condition and ratio if you can provide details, PM or reply to this post, thank you.

I have a remus universal box welded the the end of a 328i rear section, sound from the outside was ok but it had a cabin drone at 1800-2000 rpm (open road cruise). i pulled it off as i was doing alot of open road commuting.
you might get away with it in a manual car or by adding a couple of resonators, any interest ?
Hi there
thanks for the response, could be interested, do you have any pics of the exhaust? Cheers
-
Hi all, im after an E36 exhaust, either complete system to the manifold, or the tail section, to suit a 328i E36, i have a factory exhaust at the moment, but i'm after something a bit louder, not that drone type exhaust though. Let me know what you have, condition, price etc, either via this post or pm. Thanks.
-
Yeah its a nice tidy example, defintely would be good for the seller to add some more descriptive images of its condition etc, and reasonably priced for what it is

Shall you check this out? It is based in wellington, sounds like a mint original example as well, 328i manual Nz new, almost factory from the owners description of this E36. Reasonably priced ?
-
Be patient my friend, they're out there, and you may not even have to spend the max budget limit you've set at $9k. I'd wait it out for a bit, and set aside a few dollars for personalisations / or maintenance etc, all the best with the search mate.

6 hours ago, Rohil said:The dream as a kid was always to have a car I could race, and have fun with a bunch of mates. The idea was to do some autocrosses etc and build up skills to eventually do a couple track days.
The search began, now when I say budget I mean budget. Rwd and manual were 2 things we needed. One day a $1 reserve E36 pops up on the ol' tard, which we swiftly go and visit. The car checks out, it's a 1996 325i, auto however but has wof and reg and a sunroof! Leather interior and heated front seats.
Thursday 8pm is when the auction closed so the bidding war began naturally at about 7:50pm. One of us bids while the other 3 cheer on trying to win this as cheaply as possible. Success! For a fiver under $600 we have a fully road legal e36 coupe!
The manual conversion came about with a bit of wheeler dealing by me. A PS3 plus tons of games was traded for a Getrag 220, linkages and flywheel. The rest was bought which wasn't so bad.
If you're interested in how we get on, give us a like and stay up dated https://www.facebook.com/absolutefinesse/. There's other projects such as a classic mini clubman and photos from my Cuba trip.
Please feel free to give us suggestions on mods, cheap things to add/delete. Any advice would be appreciated, flick me a msg and come down for a chat, we're working on the car most weekends! We dont bite, and are more than happy to meet new people. If you have any questions as well, feel free to shoot away!
Heres the day we picked i up before the debauchery begins....
Awesome project and great progress thus far, looking forward to seeing it near completion ?

Not much happening atm, however i did take a brief look at the transmission, and noticed the guibo had the slightest crack in the rubber and starting to perish, i haven't removed it to get the part number which is hidden on the opposite side, in other news i've ordered some new Slotted Brake Disc Rotors from Darren at NZAD, also need to acquire Brake pads from them, but i am distracted with many other priorities haha.
Still looking at Clutch and Flywheel options, i really wanted to get a lot done this long weekend, but whatever i have atm is what i'll work with for now.
Adjustable suspension is on the to do list, just researching and trying to figure out what is best suited for me. I did contact Speedfactor, regarding the XYZ suspension, but i haven't finalised anything. Patience is key here, has anyone had any experience with running XYZ adjustable suspension?

Thanks for the kind words, it'll be a nice tribute, really hoping to get it up and legally running heading into the summer, have some more updates coming this week hopefully ?

Been a bit slow with progress, but here's a small, but significant update, finally got my hands on a Full E36 ZF 5spd manual conversion from one of my good contacts, removed off a factory 328i manual. It came with a strange looking Momo Gear Knob haha, i guess it'll grow on me before i get a OEM Style replacement. Still looking to add a few things, will be replacing the transmission mounts prior to installing, although they don't look half bad, the Clutch / Flywheel could do with a rebuild, but i'm leaning toward acquiring one of the NZAD Stg 2 kits, or Speedfactors Competition package. Tied down with work atm so i've just pulled them out of the car yesterday evening, will wait to clean them hopefully next week, in the mean time, i must source other little things ? ?. Onward and upward from here ?

Thanks for the input, i'll be checking that out, cheers mate.

Thanks for the input, yeah, i plan on putting something similar on the car, im not building a purpose built track car, and spending a few extra dollars on a different brand with similar specs is something i'll have to decide on. Build quality is a question, but typical brands like Koni, Bilstein come at a price as well. Will do some more research

Are the E39 M5's at an all time low in regards to current market value? Really lovely looking machines. The interior colour looks pretty cool, but you can obviously see the front passenger seat has seen better days. Rather affordable to purchase....but i have no idea about M5 Maintenance....hope it goes to a good home.
