  1. That is a bad run, a nightmare of $$$. I don't believe that it is legal to go through with work that hasn't been authorised by the customer? May pay to check rights with consumers act? Just guessing here. Or seek some professional help on the matter if it comes to that, do some research and build a little knowledge on where you stand legally, try sort it out with the appropriate person in charge and do have the facts handy.

Personally haven't had this terrible thing happen to me, it is always in the best interests of yourself and other parties to take the vehicle to places with a good reputation for customer service, communication and obviously the work carried out. There are a few in auckland, i have used mainly BMWorkshop Botany, never dissapointed by their service, some of the members will be able to give some directions to other really good workshops they use, all the best with this mate.

  2. Hmm...had also looked into importing over the last year, and last week i asked about a E36 M3 to be imported but was told tbe vehicle wasn't able to be imported due to NZ restrictions... Although...correct me if i'm wrong here, i was in the understanding that you can import any vehicle, but it doesn't mean you are legally allowed to drive / attempt to register it on our roads? Also the 20 year classical age status must be valid for registering a vehicle over that stupid 12 yr age limit for importing. Anyway you are bound to get the answer from someone on here, cheers.

  3. The road rules for holiday seasons are ridiculous, as mentioned by you guys, the emphasis is in the wrong area. I am lead to think / believe that they are revenue gaining...not actually focusing on the source of the problem. Really need to make defensive driving courses compulsory, and "teach" new / and seasoned drivers about basic physics of motor vehicles etc. i could only imagine how %% many accidents are not caused soley by speed...but stupid people making stupid decisions? Can lower speed tolerance and force the general public to obey this and that....but none of this will "REMOVE THE IDIOT OUT OF THE IDIOT DRIVER"...haha.

  4. signs of it being a real AC S:

    - side body pinstripe

    - wheels

    - rear roof spoiler

    - boot spoiler

    - rear bumper bodykit

    - exhaust (hard to see)

    missing:

    - front bumper bodykit

is it worth $5k? hell no.

not when its a boring old 2L engine thats done close to 300ks

i dont see any AC S mods that actually make the car any better performance wise but then again what would be the point? its a 520i..

does have facelift headlights though which is strange being a 1997. maybe front end accident = stock bumper/updated headlights?

Interesting info, yeah i am not impressed with the performance of the 2 ltr variant, weak, sluggish...the list goes on
