The man fired twice in the air with a pump-action shotgun without shooting anyone and took a receptionist hostage briefly before surrendering to police at the German manufacturer's offices west of Paris, officials said. "It's an average customer who complains that his vehicle has mechanical problems and that BMW is unable to repair them," state prosecutor Luc-Andre Lenormand told AFP, saying the man had targeted BMW several times before. "It was premeditated," Lenormand said. "He will be charged with arson, armed threats and illegal detention" and will be examined by a psychiatrist, he added. The receptionist was receiving psychological counselling. The man was already facing charges for assaulting an employee at a BMW dealership and was suspected to have plotted in 2006 to hire accomplices to break into a BMW dealer's home and kill him and his family, Lenormand said. In 2003 the suspect had tried to set himself on fire in front of the BMW dealership where he had bought his car. Earlier media reports had said the man was a former BMW employee and that a salesman had also been taken hostage. Police said the man lit a fire in the headquarters which did not cause much damage and no one was hurt during the incident. An employee raised the alarm by text message. A BMW spokesman, Patrick Lucas, said there were about 80 employees present and "they evacuated when they learned there was an intruder downstairs." The head of communications at the site, Jean-Michel Juchet, said the employees fled to the canteen and police soon arrived, adding he was "happy this incident ended up as just a minor story."

  3. Is it common practice to be wrenched out of your car and handcuffed for a minor traffic infringement? Or, are the over the top actions part of a PR exercise to make all drivers hate the police?
  4. Another thing that gets on my wick, is the cars listed as having manual gearbox when they have an automated manual gearbox (SMG / tiptronic) If it aint got a clutch pedal it's not manual.
  5. Potential buyers might be like me, waiting for something else to sell to fund the toy. Vicious cycle.
  6. email from TM We have concerns about listing Audi S4 2004 - 307065513, which you participated in or viewed recently.DO NOT COMPLETE THIS TRADE - We have reason to believe that this account has been compromised by an overseas scammer and this listing is not genuine
  7. Them cars are way too cheap and the photos are not taken in NZ. Makes me wonder if the the cars are actually in NZ right now. I reckon TM should be restricted to private sellers and let the Dealers set up their own websites.
  8. Not even any software to plug a steering wheel and pedals into for some sim racing, real slack spammer.
  9. Am still removing diced carrot from my keyboard. YUK!
  10. I race cars online (pc) at kiwisimracing.net.nz currently racing a BMW open wheeler with K1200 motorcyle engine. http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Formula%20BMW 68 laps at Pukekohe a few weeks ago, finished 6th. This Thursday night 40 laps of Oldring Park. Racers age varies from teens to old farts, tracks are accurate and most of the cars are fairly realistic. It helps to have a racing cockpit and good wheel http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~maxlev/images/Obutto.jpg
  11. The newer bikes and cages certainly have some strange styling. My last 2 had some high tech without looking too horrid. http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~maxlev/images/Img_0054.jpg But they not as much fun now as when there was an open road sign at the bottom of the Albany hill, those were the days.
