  1. Just about to drop some coin on a new flywheel and clutch set. Looks like the aluminium flywheels are about 4.8kgs and the light steel ones are about 6.5kgs. Anyone have much experience with either being more appropriate for a spirited street car build? Car in question is an E36 328i. Surely either would have a performance advantage over stock so i guess I'm more concerned with longevity and how user friendly one would be vs. the other.
  2. Cheers, do you have a link? Can't seem to find it.
  3. Looking at options right now. Prefer to buy a complete conversion but will consider components.
  4. Thanks for the advice. At this stage it seems a bit over the top to drop that kind of coin into a car that was purchased for $2k. I've worked as a painter before overseas and the prices here are more than double what we used to charge so just wanted a bit of a second opinion. I think I'll look into a diy job and "invest" in some new tools. Can do a bit of practicing on bumper covers and what not until ready to spray the top.
  5. I know this is an open ended question but has anyone had a full repaint done recently that could advise on cost expectations? Car in question is an E36 coupe , no rust, no dents, some rock chips and will remain the same colour. Just looking for a ballpark idea so I don't get ripped.
  6. Thanks Olaf, tried that. Put up a wanted ad as well. I was hoping that the above trader was registered to this site so that I could buy through someone associated with Bimmersport hence the question.
  7. Hi, hoping someone knows this trader so that I can contact them about a few parts. w.industries He seems to have a pretty good selection but it's a long drive for me to go and pick things up so would like to organise in advance and TM is being problematic.
  8. Cheers M3AN. Where do I find a laptop with a bloody serial port? Looks like this cable doesn't allow a usb adapter.
  9. Thanks for all the help guys. Looks like for my purposes I will begin doing the research on the INPA software. Should I be looking for something like this for an adapter? http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-BMW-INPA-Ediabas-K-D-CAN-USB-BMW-20pin-OBD2-Diagnostic-Tool-/281274894028
  10. Thanks for the heads up. Can you provide any source data for the software that would be needed? Another option, and I've done zero research on this, can an OBDII ECM be installed on a pre-OBDII vehicle? Assuming there will be some harness splicing but did much change from 1996-1998? Reason that I'm asking is I purchased this vehicle to build up over time and would like to be able to monitor mods as I make them. I would also like the ability of self diagnostics should I need any.
  11. What's the $$ on the steering wheel?
  12. Cheers M3AN. I have put up a WTB and only just started my search. Will chase them down and see what they can do. I would prefer factory so that may be a win. Even if I have to just change the rear seat colour to match the fronts that would be acceptable.
  13. Hope someone may be able to shed a bit of light on this. I have a 1996 328 and would like to be able to monitor live data via my smart phone or laptop. There is an assortment of BT scanners on TM and adapters from the BMW diagnostic port to the standard OBDII port but no idea which will actually work. Has anyone been through this?
  14. So just got a 328 coupe and wanting to ditch the rough factory cloth sport seats for the leather version, either sport or standard. Problem seems to be that the only leather interiors that I can find are all from sedans so don't have the proper rear seats or the fold away fronts to access the rear. Anyone know of possible aftermarket seats that fold away, leather not a requirement? Or, are there any ways to modify the sedan front seats to fold forward? The interior of the car is mint aside from the seats so considering all options.
  15. I have a 1996 328i that needs a new set of seats. Happy to trade the existing electric sport seats for black leather standard or sports +$ your way or just buy outright.
  16. Would you happen to know if the seats and steering wheel would fit an E36?
