  1. We have a 8kw Mitsubishi heatpump but it does not compare to our old 8kw Daikin one we had in our old house, it's a bit quieter but the heat even at 31 only takes the chill out of the air, i'll definitely be going to Daikin when this one dies.

  2. I have the Bosch platinum pus ones (about $100 from SC) they do what they are supposed to do but no real difference from the OEM BMW ones apart from maybe longevity. Maybe doing the Vanos seals while you are doing the plugs and rocker gasket will save you a job later as more than likely that is due/near due, also a tip i got off here is using WD40, rags and a toothbrush instead of degreaser to clean the engine bay works awesome.

  3. Hey guys, how big is the single Vanos ring? I bought one from Beisan and when it arrived it looked a little bit big to me, id say the circumference is about a golf ball (maybe a little bigger) don't wanna pull it too bits and discover it's wrong haha

  4. sorry off topic (your inbox is full?)

how did you manage to find all the options that your e46 came with? I am really interested to find out what options were on my e36 (nz new).
    good luck with the sale!

Google BMW VIN decoder and enter your last 7 digits of your VIN, there are plenty out there but i use the Russian one!

  5. I'd probably look for a dye rather than a spray so that the fabric absorbs it rather than it sitting on the surface.

This ^^ I did this on one my older cars using some black fabric dye, put it with a small amount of water in a squeezy bottle sprayer thing ;) and sprayed it on all of the fabric trim and seats, came up really well and never came off or marked clothes etc.

  6. I'm sooo pissed at this 4km threshhold. I've been pinged 3 times in the past 2 weeks, one at 106, one at 109 and one at 123km

The first one was a police switch-on, the second was a laser that caught me coming downhill (no acceleration) on the motorway and although the 3rd was going a bit fast, it was on a passing lane with about 15 cars behind me all trying to pass a cattle and Fonterra milk truck... All times, there was never going to be an explanation good enough for the police. Anyone who says they are not Revenue gathering is full of it, now to chill for 2 years with 60 points (20 from previous ticket early last year) and a few hundred dollars of fines just fricken annoys me.

  7. Buy first

    Buy second

I'd buy here though http://www.cable-shack.co.uk/ (actually, I did - he lists on ebay too though). Jimmy reads another forum I read.

But if you're really into fiddling, you want BOTH!!!

I have both of them, and BMW scanner is VERY good for plugging in and doing quick things - far easier to use and very quick to set up. I even used to to change some of the xenon light settings after I fitted a genuine retrofit kit. I've changed the litres of fuel used before oil service due warnings, change light settings (angel eyes blink with indicators etc.

The SSS/DIS/NCS can be used for more in depth stuff, such as more complicated retrofits and settinngs. You can even change the ZCS etc. If you install WinKFP you can update DME software etc too. If I can the M54B25 to a B30, I can just load the DME software and go B) .

Be sure to check compatibility with your car and PC though ;)

Hi Allan, do you know if either of these will reset Trans Adaptations? Cheers

  8. I'm looking to invest in a BMW scanner mostly because I want to avoid paying BMW $60 per scan to trace faults.

    I'm looking at this:

    http://www.bimmerzone.com/category/Diagnos...Peake_Tool.html

    possibly this:

    http://www.xcar360.com/bmw-scanner-1-4-0-b...-scan-tool.html

Does anyone have any opinions or alternative suggestions?

I've been alerted there are alternatives that can do this that or the other. But really I just want to be able to check fault codes & clear so I can diagnose issues myself. So ease of use is high on the priority list.

Any / all opinions as to the best tools for this purpose appreciated.

    cheers

I've been considering this for the same reasons. I have asked a couple of Q's and from what they said it scans for faults and resets them if you choose.

Does anyone have any experience with these ones?

  9. Hey guys searched high and low but cant get a definitive answer about what type of trans oil my zf box uses. Can anyone help me out? Cheers

Edit - Valvoline Maxlife or Nulon Full Synthetic are LT 71141 compatible.

  10. Yeah I would flip the grate so the curve is upwards and you wouldn't dip into it so much, I had a similar prob at my old house but was the curbing that went down to low... a little bit of quickcrete and a broom fixed it for me ;) the curb was pretty rough like yours and my arguement to the council would have been it looks better now anyway, although TBH if they did hit me up i would have said it was like that when we bought it haha
