A recall item in the UK too but I'd moved on by then I think.

HTH
They may not have as I remember mine being replaced in London at my cost!

Thanks Michael. Looking great.

Nice work. What did you use?

Returning recently from the UK we bought a couple of vehicles in.
It's pretty straightforward, as folks have said. Choose a good UK exporter who understands NZ and can manage the requirements. Make sure the quote includes delivery to your compliance folks here in NZ, don't pack anything else in the car (saves any associated issues), keep ALL documentation in physical and electronic form.
As you're in NZ I would also recommend you have a chat with the people who will do your compliance. They can give you a lot of pointers.

easy enough, hardest part is find enough space in the dash for the looms and box, that’s a total PITA.
Sounds interesting. Got any more details?

https://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=KTY939I hear that some Singaporeans actually drive their cars to Malaysia! I don't believe it myself...

You can come over and polish my tips anytime bud.

No need to worry. I was bounced between the .sg site and the .nz site to be asked for the VIN. Progress! Unfort I get a message that BMW connected customer services need to activate the mobile connection.
One step forward, 1 step back 😂

Hi Dave
Many thanks! Just to be clear the email you refer to is an email from the NZ connected registration?

8 minutes ago, davenz said:hi guys, try register your BMW ID at connected drive web portal the country where your cars imported from, not under NZ web portal.
for example, if you car is from AU then register ID at www.bmw-connecteddrive.com.au, NOT www.bmw-connecteddrive.co.nz
works for me as im able to add vehicle to my account now.
Hey Dave, I did that actually. Add vehicle to what account? Account in the BMW NZ app?
Thanks

13 minutes ago, davenz said:same, i believe they just simply don't want to help because the vehicle is not NZ new. they dont care.
actually i emailed BMW support and was advised that local dealer can simply help doing the region transfer and i should be be able to add my car after that, however......
not a good service as expected under such a big brand.
After buying my imported car 6 months ago I enquired at my local BMW dealer and they flatly denied it could be done. It didn't make a lot of sense to me and I haven't spent any money with them since.

Yes, and I’d do the same as you if I had an i3.

Evening gents
I think your replies, quite interestingly, illustrate my point in two different ways.
Breaker, I think your outtake is exactly what BMW hoped for; somehow the fire has been caused by the owner and “independent repairer” (or perhaps they just wanted to use the ever under-utilised semi-colon!). How could that possibly be known with certainty by an unrelated party in such a short space of time? What is their “understanding” exactly? It may be nothing more than chatting to the recovery skip driver. We just don’t know.
Gaz, I suggest you could reasonably come to that conclusion without the 2nd half of the last sentence? So why insert it? I think Breaker has answered that question (that no one asked), some people will conclude that it’s risky taking their car to an Indy.
You know, this isn’t a great hill to die on. If I had an i3 I would be taking it to the BMW dealer. I just found their statement really interesting from a professional perspective.
-
That last sentence is interesting (from a PR perspective).
"; however, we understand that the owner chose to recently have the vehicle’s servicing carried out by an independent repairer."
Whilst the other facts can be verified through BMW's own systems, puchase, servicing, etc, this last one surely cannot? An unnecessary addition to the statement and perhaps demonstrating the tensions here? I would've advised differently.

Certainly in excellent condition by the looks of it!

Good way to generate some quick interest. Very clever 😆

I am taking my car to Sherson Auto, Greerton, Tauranga who specialise in BMW. I believe Brett used to be the BMW Tauranga head tech (could be wrong).

I think you do not pay GST on an Immigrant's vehicle (don't quote me on it but a friend imported his Golf R from Australia when he migrated here last year and just had to pay shipping and compliance costs).
That’s correct, as long as you have owned the vehicle for a period of time. It was a year when we bought our cars back from the UK.Less than a year means you pay gst on a depreciated valuation of the car.

These folks might have a view as they're wrecking 2 F10 M5 sedans.
