Loved the bit about the Senna, seeing a car shave almost 4 seconds off the lap records when previous iterations were in 0.1’s and 0.2’s was just ridiculous. With Top Gear, I reckon BBC should just ditch the format and give Chris Harris his own show. I’d watch it.

Hey all Since about April this year, BMW has been fitting PPF’s (petrol particulate filters, not the paint protection ?) to the M140i and a lot of its other higher performance vehicles, in order to meet the EU emission standards. Doesn’t have any impact on performance, as they just tune the engines slightly to compensate for the somewhat restricted airflow. However, reportedly it does reduce the pops and other exhaust noises that are part of the charm of these cars. Plus it prevents you from fitting an M Performance Exhaust if you want to. EU/UK get PPF’s, US and (anecdotally) Aus do not. Anyone know if NZ BMW’s get them now?

Love it, stolen ? Wow, now there’s a nostalgia trip. Although to be fair I’m already planning to fit Focal ES100K’s ? This. Trust me I tried, I wanted the full Oyster interior as well (incl transmission tunnel and underdash leather), couldn’t do that either. They’re pretty tight on the colour options for 1’s.

Hey, I just picked up a BMW Drive Analyser for a pretty decent price in the USA. Once it arrives, if you're Auckland based, happy to loan it out for people who haven't used one before and want to have some fun.

I kinda wish I'd held onto the Soarer, sold it way too cheap and it was a great car. And yep it's Estoril, just must be overcast in the photos or something. One day, maybe, possibly, I'd quite like to wrap it in Mexico Blue. The colour on the Volvo C30 Polestar prototype is my favourite colour I've ever seen on a car. Sure it's a bit garish and stands out but it's just so... fun! I see some guy in the UK had the same idea, not 100% sold on the blacked out wheels but whatever I guess

Found this image on the M140i Facebook page I'm part of. Interesting comparison of the front dimensions of the current gen. 1-Series vs the upcoming one. Can see how the layout changes with them moving to FWD from RWD and switching the engine mounting to transverse. Looks also like the AWD option will be very similar to the Haldex system Audi/VW uses. Can't say I'm a huge fan to be honest. The long nose and RWD were to me the hallmarks of the 1-Series, giving it away to make something that looks like a Hyundai i30, I just can't understand the logic.

Hey all, Put the deposit down a couple weeks ago on a new custom spec M140i Shadow Edition, although due to a number of reasons it won't arrive until July. Been a company car driver for 15 years, it's amazing how unfussy you get with cars when someone else is paying for everything. Before that I was a real little petrolhead - MR2 Turbo, SR20DET Silvia S13, Soarer 1UZFE etc) but this will be my first BMW. New car hasn't been built yet obviously, but it will look very similar to this, only visual differences will be the sunroof and the internal trim being brushed aluminium rather than gloss black. Look forward to talking with you all and hopefully going to a few meets once it arrives! Cheers, Daniel.
