  1. Hey thanks guys for the advice, I really appreciate it. I bought my current 323i on the spot a few years ago and knew nothing about e46s...ended up spending a decent portion of the last 2 years underneath it fixing things so I'm definately more cautious now lol. I'm going to try and find a cosmetically nice one and do what mechanical work needs doing since I'm comfortable with diy. I think mechanical work is much easier than cosmetic work (and there's only so much you can do without going to the body shop and dropping big $$$). I'll try viewing this one if the seller still has it, at least it looks like it's been well cared for: https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/2806020441?bof=DQgWLR7D Otherwise let me know if anyone has a tidy 330i or ci for 3-4k... Also can anyone recommend a good place to get a PPI done? Cheers again
  2. True I did see that one, I was put off by the higher km but it is definitely nicer spec and I do love the color. What do you reckon that one is worth? Ok you guys are putting me off the silver one now haha. Would you say its undesirable because of the colour and non m package? Yeah I'm planning to put some $ aside for diy maintenance.
  3. Hey guys, I'm pretty keen on this, just curious what you think it's worth? 2001 330ci, only 142k Kms, seems pretty tidy although it could use a good interior clean. No service history but the seller claims it's been serviced yearly and runs well (I'd obviously get a pre-purchase inspection). It's in Blenheim but I'd be moving it to Auckland so curious what you think its worth in the Auckland market. I have a 2000 323i at the moment but keen for an upgrade. I nearly prefer sedan over coupe and I wish it was blue or something but there's not many e46 330s with lowish km around. Cheers for any input!
  4. Update for anyone else who might have the same issue... the repco tool worked a treat, got the arm off in 5 minutes. Getting the new cab to line up with the holes in the carrier was a nightmare but a whole different issue. Moral of the story: just spend 50 bucks on the right tool and save yourself 2 days of bashing and swearing ?
  5. Awesome thanks for the replies, I'll give the repco separator a go today.
  6. Yeah I did wonder about that. I've re-secured the other two points and still can't get it to budge. Thanks for the offer, I'll see if I can find anything closer as I'll need to bum a ride or bike since I've mangled the threads on the bolt... Would you recommend a pickle fork over the peg style ball joint tool? Something like this? https://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/p/toolpro-toolpro-mini-ball-joint-separator/105533.html#q=pickle%2Bfork&lang=en_NZ&start=5
  7. Hi everyone, I'm attempting to change the right front lower control arm on my 2000 323i. The inner ball joint and the bushing bolts were easy but the outer ball joint is defying my various attempts to get it off. The nut is off but the spindle of the bolt appears to be seized inside the steering knuckle. I've tried using a 32mm wrench as a pry bar, soaking it in crc for a few days, and bashing the heck out of the bolt, steering knuckle, and arm with a hammer. I'm going to try a ball joint separator next, just wondering if anyone has used either of these before? https://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/p/toolpro-toolpro-tie-rod-end-and-ball-joint-separator/377217.html https://www.repco.co.nz/en/parts-service/steering-suspension/suspension-components/repco-ball-joint-seperator-rst157/p/A1210644 If anyone on the lower North shore has one I could borrow for a day in exchange for beer money that would be fantastic as well. If anyone has any other ideas or recommendations it would greatly appreciated, cheers!
