Good Evening, Anyone familiar with the car below? Seemed a bit too good to be true... http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-998040358.htm Imported in 1996 from the UK, looks to have been written off recently and now plates from a '95 320 wagon have been fitted. Anyone have any ideas? Cheers

Good Evening all, It is with much regret that I must inform you that I am selling my E30 to fund another car. It is a 1989 South African built 325i Manual Sedan in Silver done 188kms. It is in really good condition with Blue leather factory seats and mint dash. In fact the interior pretty much looks like new as does the engine bay. I have recently redone the tappets to ensure they are all correct. Being an SA car it also has the long range tanks fitted and the big sump guard. It is totally stock running on standard 14" alloys with new tyres fitted. The previous owner fitted an AVS 4 star alarm with remote door locks and also fitted a new top-o-the range Cd Player with aux input and fusion speakers and tweeters in place of the factory items. There is an amp mounted to the back of the rear seat in the boot. Have been using it as a daily driver for about 4months now with no problems. The left side electric windows have been playing up recently and I suspect they need new switches. Has a wof for another 4 months and 3 months rego going on it tomorrow. It has all the factory books with it stating that the timing belt was done at 140kms and there is a number of service stamps from both South Africa and here from when it arrived in 96. It has had new shocks installed just before i bought it and rides very well and quiet. My idea was to go down the usual route of some 15" baskets with some adjustable suspension for some light track work however I am now going in a different direction. I have given it an oil service 3000kms ago with Castrol Edge. I have added some photos from when I bought the car. It now has a german flag decal on the front left guard other than that its the same. I am looking for $4800. Feel free to contact me through here or on 022 600 6411 should you wish to view. Cheers Rob

Yea i think they have. There used to be the odd M5 racing however it seems that alot of newer cars are now running. Porsche are entering shortly with a Panamera V8 too.

This is an Italian Volpini Formula Junior. This actual car was raced by Bandini in fJ before he became a Ferrari F1 Driver. Was owned by Geoff Manning for a very long time before he died 3 years ago of cancer.

I have found some worthy opponents. Foreigners are strange.

Im interested as to what there is to look at through the greenhouse on the bonnet.

from what i could work out its a e30 cab at a French custom car show. Specs wise I have no idea. Oh i just noticed the monster tach so the engine is probably fully worked n stuff aye.

So, somehow i fell upon this piece of hideous custard. Seems like an E30 crashed into a Corvette ZR1, a Wisemann, a Diablo and that rack by the checkout at Super Cheap that sells the really bad stickers and smelly things etc. Can anyone top this for ugly? Oh and it also crashed into a Beaver. The animal.

OK FORGET WHAT I JUST WROTE IN THE NOVEL ABOVE! Thought I would have a look at the rubber connectors between the door and the pillar on the drivers door. I just wiggled them and hey presto! working fine again. Im going to pull them off and clean them up as maybe the heavy rain we have had lately and that I drove in yesterday has gotten a little condensation inside or something. Rob

Good Morning, My E30 has an AVS alarm fitted and has been working fine since I got the car a while back. It has the usual keyless entry button which pops the central locking as expected. However maybe a month ago when I went to open the doors the central locking would not unlock. The alarm turns off as usual and the lights flash as usual but it wont pop the doors. I could put the key into the drivers door and open it manually and that was fine then after driving the car and stopping at my destination the doors would pop open and lock with the remote fine. This would happen maybe 20% of the time getting into my car. Now as of yesterday the doors wont pop open with the remote at all. I can still get in with the key however I cant unlock the other doors from inside and if my partner want to get in the passengers side I have to use the key to turn the passengers door lock just enough to get the door open. Once she is in the door wont open again unless I get out with the key and manually unlock it. As soon as I remove the key again the door locks. It is almost like the central locking is totally dead. I have checked the fuses and they seem fine and I have also disconnected the battery for a while and reconnected it with no change. Any idea as to what the next step might be? It seems to be a problem that has been getting worse for a while so I think maybe it is an electrical gremlin somewhere but im not very electrically minded when it comes to this newer stuff (for me anyway : P) Any thoughts or ideas appreciated. Cheers Rob

Evening, My 325 has it stock exhaust at the mo and as im sure your well aware the thing is far too quiet. Im eventually going to be putting some extractors and a full stainless in the car however that is a we way off so im wondering what I can do to the stock exhaust in the meantime to give it a bit of a nicer and louder tone. Would removing one of the boxes make much or a difference or would it be better to replace one with a fairly straight through muffler arrangement. Keeping in mind I use the car everyday and for long trips I dont want it to be too loud but to just really give a nice note when im giving it a bit of welly. Any ideas very welcome. Cheers

Evening, Cheers for all the info regarding the swap however the the guy wanted a bit more than I was prepared to pay for it. I have an e28 2.7 bottom end with a 2litre head and 2.5 manifold built up in the corner of the shed which I have had built for a while that I have been thinking of throwing in instead so will probably go that route. Much easier to reverse back to standard too should I wish to sell later. Cheers Rob

Cheers fellas! Being mainly from a classic BMW and Ford background im not really up with the play as far as computers and the like go so thanks for pointing out the obd1 vs obd2 differences. Just done some more research on that and now fairly well understand what the deal is. Basically I have been offered this e36 328i auto with 156,000kms on the clock. Its quite shabby but has great black leather inside and some nice wheels. Was looking at it to strip and I heard of a few people like yourselves putting the engine in an e30 but I was not sure of the exact ins and outs of it all. My other issue is my 325i is very mint and original and I dont know if i could bring myself to pull out the heavy old anchor and start mucking it around. Thanks a heap for the information! Cheers

Evening, Just a quick question regarding putting an E36 2.8 into a manual e30 325i. Is this fairly straight forward? I understand that the sump, oil pickup and dip stick need to be taken off and swapped for ones out of an e34 and assume this is to clear the subframe but im unsure of which model. Also would the manual in the e30 mate up to it easily and be able to handle the power? The plans would be to keep the engine standard. I have been doing a fair bit of trawling around the net and found out a few things but these are the little things that I would like help with clarifying. Would the computer need to be taken out of the E36 as well? Cheers for any help or advice anyone can give. Rob

Good Afternoon all, I am currently going through the process of joining the Police however this will most likely take 6months or more to get through the system and away to camp. I have been doing all sorts of things since I resigned from my full time job about 5 months ago. Mostly in the car industry as this has been what I have been doing for a long time. If anyone here knows of any car related sales/dismantling jobs or anything going anytime soon it would be great to hear from you. I can of course send through my CV and any relevant information on request. Cheers Rob 022 600 6411

Seen this car in the flesh with Philip Hoffman. As good as you will find anywhere of course! Also had a couple of Twin Cam Mk1 Escorts and an RS1600 + a Mexico and a no expense spared RS2000 racecar. All bought because "i couldnt not buy it"

The only thing not original to the car are the recaro style seats that we put in which are much more comfortable. Its been very well maintained and my father has spent quite a bit getting it properly sorted. Towed our race cars all over the country for a few years now with no problems. As far as the Kms go I dont think its something most people would worry about too much. There would be a few cars with quite a few more kms here on these forums which are still running sweet as a daisy like this one is. Bavarian Motors in Glenfield have been through it a while ago and did all the jobs that needed doing ie bushes and general servicing. Cheers
