what's the thoughts on an intake upgrade like GruppeM or similar? Can we source anything in NZ?

i should have asked a better question which was is there an opportunity to upgrade anything with this maintenance? If I have to buy new parts then upgrading to performance makes sense. I imagine it might only be in the ignition stuff.

100% for me the 130 or 135 with out staggered big rear rubber would lose a lot of character. I pulled the trigger on Dunlops, and some 400 style 18's, as well as some window tints. Will post some pics this weekend before and afters.

Always cool to see cars get tuned which you wouldn't expect. What type of gains did you get?

Definitely helps. What car did you have tuned?

something about seeing that fat rubber on the rear makes me happy.

good advice. I will get one of the suggested places to quote on the work.

nice, looks like M Tech Autos is out west ways. Anyone have recent experience with them?

Took the car in for the first proper service in March and finally got an estimate back today from what they think needs doing. The wallet isn't going to like it. I took it to Eurosurgeon and I didn't have the best experience. I had to hound them to get any info, never spoke to anyone who worked on it just the receptionist gave me a vague recap from the mechanic and then a couple months later after hounding I get this estimate. I am trying to be understanding with the disruptions from covid etc might just be a rough time. Anyone had good experiences with them or recommend someone else to try out west or west central? After the initial experience I'm a little cautious about taking the car in for work. Maybe its just a struggle at all mechanics at the moment?

@choo
sweet I think that's what I will go for.
Do most people run this setup: 225/40 R18 #255/35 R18?

100%, those tips sticking out are not for me.

haven't seen it posted in the selling section. Seems cheap? What do you guys think is a fair price these days for a good spec good condition manual these days?

Seems like a good price if anyone is hunting?

I recommend "The Tint NZ" they do SunTek as oppose to the more expensive 3M Ceramic and price starts at $280 I think
https://www.facebook.com/TheTintNZ/My 130i has tints all around(except windshield ofcourse) they are at 25% tint darkness and 75% heat rejection soo its good for summer but I might go back and get my two front windows to 35% as 25% is abit too dark at night
speciallyonly when reverse parking.was thinking about 35% all around, do you have any pics of yours for reference? Isn't 25% illegal?

if by some miracle anyone has one or comes across one please let me know

good to know.
These do seem like good value if they are decent:
https://www.hyperdrive.co.nz/product/4116/dunlop-sp-sport-maxx-050?associated=225692 for $340 or
https://www.tyroola.co.nz/bridgestone-potenza-adrenalin-re003-25535r18-94w-ty5f8fcf2c92.html for $400
Anyone have a window tint recommendation in Auckland? Anyone use A1?
-
ya the 40% is pretty sweet, what size setup would you guys recommend?
215/40 R18 #245/35 R18 - 225/40 R18 #255/35 R18 - 245/35 R18 255/35 R18 -
Thanks for all the info, seems to be a few sales on so just need lock in some new wheels quick.
-
debating between 17's or 18's. I need new rear tires so if I go up to 18's its a good time to do it. Also planning to switch from run flats to normal tires either way. What's a good value tire? Seems like people just default to the Michelin PS4's.

3 hours ago, elias said:Yes the 135i can be a deathtrap especially in the wet with traction control off, but also very fun, like I said can't really comment on the 130i though, having never driven one, was more referring to how different the n52 engine was to the n54.
Would definitely recommend giving a 135i a test drive though if you are considering it
there's in an interesting manual 135 on sale in Welly that apparently has a factory LSD...
