For those who have done a 100,000km in your 130i what have you had to do?

    From 110-210km mines been:

    • 3 sets of tyres (first 2 were Pilot Sports, since moved to Primacy and getting much better life for slightly less performance)
    • Set of brake rotors
    • Set of pads
    • 2 coils
    • Accessory Belt tensioner and belt
    • Many oil changes
    • Rear sub frame bushes
    • Gearnob (was getting pretty worn from ~160km)

I need to do the rocker cover gasket and front brake lines in the near future. I may jinx it, but it's been pretty cheap to run thus far.

Bought the car 165kms now sitting on 177kms

    • All New tyres+wheels
    • Accessory Belt tensioner and belt
    • Rocker cover gasket + Sump
    • Waterpump+thermostat
    • Oil filter housing and coolant gaskets + Upgraded Micky mouse to Aluminium (from FCPeuro)

    Few extras

    • Engine flush using Liqui moly's additive Then follow it up with new oil changes services
    • replaced air filter with a K&N and cabin filter with a new bosch fiber anti bacterial

My next project is - Handling

    • M3 Control arms (5-piece) *just waiting for the price to go down abit on FCPeuro
    • Bilstein shocks b4s on all corners + bumpstops
    • Upgraded Brake line to steel
    • And not to forget the Camber pin mod! before all of these

Also contemplating to replace Hydraulic fluid reservoir seen some videos to DIY very straight forward. Reason to replace is to stop it from leaking/sweating due to old age or the irreplaceable built-in filter. But nothing major at this point.

  2. Hey guys,

Am just moving houses this weekend and I got some stuff to get rid off. Tried selling tyres online but not luck.

    130i Exhaust backbox with resonator

need em gone asap, and for you guys its free. must pick up asap or this weekend

    Cheers
    Chad :)

    good to know.

These do seem like good value if they are decent:

    https://www.hyperdrive.co.nz/product/4116/dunlop-sp-sport-maxx-050?associated=225692 for $340 or

    https://www.tyroola.co.nz/bridgestone-potenza-adrenalin-re003-25535r18-94w-ty5f8fcf2c92.html for $400

Anyone have a window tint recommendation in Auckland?  Anyone use A1?

if you're after for top of the line "Ceramic" tint but dont want to pay 3M price as they start from $450+

I recommend "The Tint NZ" they do SunTek as oppose to the more expensive 3M Ceramic and price starts at $280 I think
    https://www.facebook.com/TheTintNZ/

My 130i has tints all around(except windshield ofcourse) they are at 25% tint darkness and 75% heat rejection soo its good for summer but I might go back and get my two front windows to 35% as 25% is abit too dark at night specially only when reverse parking.

    @Angelo

I'm just up the road, happy to help if I can. I have butane torch you can borrow, and some Rost Off Blue Ice for cooling, it would be best to start with cooling although I don't know how much is left in the can but you can pick up more from Wurth in Wiri.

Do you have any vice grips or wrench pliers that you can grab the head with?

Cutting the head off, or even just the flange, will release the tension and should allow it to be removed.

Drilling through the head will allow you to insert something into the hole to twist it out, being aluminium that should be viable.

Have a bunch of tools you can borrow if you like, I'm in Mt Wellington and working from home on Monday.

oh yo! thanks man be happy for you to drop by and have a yarn. I do have a needle nose vice grip but i think wrench pliers should work best in its current situation. but unfortunately I do not have one. I can try buy one tomorrow if you do not have one. I havent drilled into the hole yet as i have limited space given the size of my tools and radiator fan being on the way. Anyways really appreciate you if you do drop by. I'll be at home all day tomorrow as it's my day off :)

Im up north all week, if you are still stuck by friday though yell out and I can give it a go. Have screw extractors etc, but looking at that it'd be easier to grab with something else first.

Looking at my engine on stand, id try get a cold chisel on the upper rear side of it and give it a thump with a BFH, should loosen it enough to grab with something less ape-ish

mhmm might need to go out and get a cold chisel but tbh dont think that would work either as I think i tried something similar also purchased a milwaukee needle nose vice grip yesterday but cant even grip the bolt properly unless i really rounded it for more surface soo I sacrificed my e-10 socket and glued it in, tried it this morning and no luck as it came off lol. I'm happy to wait for ya this friday and see how it goes :)

  6. Hope everyone here is well this winter, 🥶

    Mickey mouse hose upgraded (done)
Oil filter housing and Oil cooler gasket replacement. (halfway done🤞

Soo I need some help, like physical help and was wondering if any of you guys are experienced removing a stripped bottom bolt of my oil filter housing as I may have stripped it :(  due to being over torqued(I believed) for some reason. top came off easily just hammered a few times with the e10 socket. before I ended up rounding the rear bolt(still in good cond) i'll get you guys to try it, if it fail we may have to remove the intake manifold few inches down and should leave us more working space.

I have tried different methods of getting it out like hammering e10 socket to get it back into shape and try again from there but it feels like i ended up rounding it more..

tried wd-40 overnight and next day, no luck.

tried drilling a slot in the middle for a flathead screw driver but still cant crack it lose

tried Irwin Bolt-Grip extractor similar to e-10 socket but more cylindrical jagged  socket also doesnt work

tried epoxy glue (as the guy from bunnings suggests) and sacrificed by e10 socket.. now I have to buy a whole set again as E-10 sockets cant be purchased on its own 😪

one of the last options is to buy an Screw Extractor set and drill into socket head and could be a higher chance of getting it out compared to others but havent tried it yet due to limited space like the radiator fan. or size of my drill gun🔫

    ..

Before I take it in to a mechanic/workshop and will charge me heaps. i'd rather ask here where I started and ask for advise and possibly if come around my place and will be more than happy to pay for your time/effort in hopes we get it out.🤞

I am located in Mt. Wellington near Sylvia park

Its listed wrong on their website, fits the aero spoiler fine, its on my pre lci

Thanks man, did you order yours off of their main website? planning to just get mine from autostance but if their website works out cheaper then might consider

  8. hey guys im back again haha.

Im looking to get this spoiler extension

    Main Company:
    https://maxtondesign.com/product-eng-8519-SPOILER-EXTENSION-BMW-1-E81-E87-FACELIFT-AERO-SPOILER.html?country=1143020151

I can also order it from Autostance
around i think for $370 for the carbon (2-3weeks to ship) https://autostance.co.nz/product/bodykits/bodykits/bodykits/bodykits/width/bodykits/diameter/bodykits/ratio/bodykits/offset/bodykits/studpattern/bodykits/direction/bodykits/color/bodykits/name/spoiler-extension-cap-bmw-1-e81-e87-facelift-aero-spoiler-2007-2011/bodykitsbodykitsbodykitsbodykitsbodykits/

My main question is, that it only fits LCI versions 2007+ but my car is pre-lci (12/2006) would you still reckon they would fit?

    bmw bump stops front 31336767333
bmw bump stops rear x2 33536767335

    or

bmw performance bump stops rear x2 33536788905

I ordered mine from demontweeks and schmiedmann due to in stock levels. Ended up paying more for shipping but otherwise you can get it from 1 place for cheaper shipping but longer wait times :)

There's abit to choose from, i dont mind waiting. If you can help me on my journey as im still new at this lol

    bmw bump stops front

https://www.schmiedmann.com/en/bmw-e87lci/catn-ol?q=31336767333 do i choose the first option or the second one? or third? lol

bmw performance bump stops rear x2

    ..

I will go with the BMWP for the rear as i heard that its a good balance of comfort and performance

and i suppose once i have my shocks arrive and bumpstops do i just give them all to my mechanic and he'll know what to do with it?

    Sports. 👍

Edit: this is worth a read, at least the first and last few pages, if you want more detail:

    https://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=80208

Thank you for providing that interesting thread, i came across it before but wasnt as interested until my mechanic told me to replace my suspensions lol. I could be more likely to buy the B4 now, and seems like it's only available on demon tweeks, going to cost me $700 +/- inc shipping! :o :D

Should I need to get the BMWP bumpstops for front and rear too?

This is what I ended up getting which is basically the equivalent to stock msport

    front left strut 31316786019 Bilstein B4S BLS22-144256
    front right strut 31316786020 Bilstein B4S BLS22-144270
    rear shocks x2 33526771559 Bilstein B4S BLS19-144238

@qube oh yo just as I need! Cant seem to find these models anymore on the Bilstein page. Demon tweeks seem to have them if i search up "BLS22-144256......." may cost me around $700 give or take. Should I also need anything besides these 4 items? Cause I will be handing the labour to my mechanic (still need to look for one)

Yes, the B12 kit (or Eibach springs alone) will lower the car but not by much, as long as you're using stock-ish wheels you'll be fine. B4 shocks and your existing springs would be the formula for keeping the same ride height. If you buy shocks and they don't come with new bumpstops then you'll need those and you should be BMW Performance versions, not stock versions (stock are too long).

oh true! well i wouldnt mind going just a tad lower i guess. but i'll also do abit of research on the B4 as there seem to be  2 models?

Remarks: Standard suspension or Sports Suspension

    i have a 130i 2007 (pre-lci) msport

Black springs will be fine, red will ride really low. Do you know you actually need springs?

good question, i think my springs are fine just dont have the car atm to visually inspect but one of my shocks is leaking soo i thought to just replace the whole thing. Do you think if i buy this with springs it will lower my car further more than the factory springs? sorry still new at this

Get some Bilstein's B6/B8s from FCPeuro etc. I think the set for my 330 was like $1200 including shipping.

The OE Sachs are like $80 each.

cheers bro, having a hard time to look at a specific model from FCPeuro soo i went over to bilstein instead and saw a whole kit for $1.5k NZD  inc shipping! should be good enough right😝

Hope i got the right model with the black springs

  14. Hey guys, any recommendations on good affordable shocks? coil kit? I got suggested a Monroe OESpectrum shocks front and rear parts+labour+gst = $1000 give or take, from a company called Shock shop in Manukau they said its better than oem and affordable too.

I heard there's been a debate online(youtube comments) with monroe being sh*t quality but shop guy told me its a really good quality for a cheap price and they said its the only brand they have available in nz based on their suppliers as beilsteins/tein are out of stock for now due to covid.

Any recommendations? if i should just replace my shock or if not the whole kit? budget would be around $1k-1.5k as im still in the market for new set of wheels
